Concerning, Spirea japonica video. Thank you for sharing your wealth of knowledge with us here. Question: I've got a few cuttings of this shrub from my local public garden. It _has_ grown roots, just sitting in water that I freshen every 2nd day or so. However, when I placed the best rooted branch into soil, all the leaves fell off. What should I do? Any suggestions greatly appreciated. Hugs from Atlantic Canada.🤗🍁
I liked Craftsman boxes when I was young. I’ve learned a ton since then. I don’t dislike Craftsman boxes, but I’ve studied these out and say what you want, I would take a Harbor Freight box over a craftsman any day. The first thing I noticed was the HF box drawers have hemmed edges on the top of the sides of drawers. In other words they are rolled over. Craftsman are not. Even my Mac box drawers are not hemmed. I also have the 5 drawer HF tool cart. Our shop foreman was going to have me cut a purchase order for about a dozen Matco tool carts. They are over $1000 apiece. I asked him if he’d ever been to Harbor freight and looked at their tool carts he says no. So I pulled it up online and he said, I’ll check it out. He came back with a 2 or 3 in the back of the company pick up truck. Technicians liked them, they held up, so they picked more of them up. They use them to keep their computers in and special tools. Icon tool boxes are In a league all their own. I’d put them up against any truck box any day of the week. You could buy 2 HF Icon setups for the price of a Snap-On. Just my 2¢ worth.
I mentioned in the video at some point that HF is the only place you can really go to look at and touch tool boxes these days besides big blue and big orange. The quality is similar to my 80's box. While I'm not a huge fan of HF, I admit that the new 7-drawer tool cart has caught my eye along with the 54-inch rolling tool cabinet. Alas, one thing at a time.
Years ago, I bought a roll of rubber floor matting(HD, sold by the foot in about a 5 foot wide roll) sold in the flooring section to line my toolboxes. You want the liner to be fairly thin so you're not losing space.
Fastest way to dump a toolbox on its side is put 4 casters on it. Use extreme caution pushing that cart on wide side you can dump it in a heartbeat ask me how I know and picking up hundreds of sockets was not fun.
This is why I cringed when you slid the wheel frames into the center of the box. They needed to be pulled out to the front and back to give as wide of base as possible. I did that with a giant storage cabinet I have. It's 3' + wide, 2.5' + deep and 6'6" tall and solid like a vault. Had a frame welded up so the wheels were directly under each outside corner of the box. Increased the base by 6" in size, but stability went from 100% to 1000%. With all my hardware and supplies, it must weigh 3,000 pounds, though.
I own CRAFTSMAN boxes and Harbor Freight US General boxes....the US General boxes are by far the best box between the 2. The metal is much thicker and the paint job is way better.
If you got something out of the video it's a win! There are times I wish I could turn that attention to detail off but it wouldn't feel right if I did.
I upgraded my Craftsman rolling cart by adding a 1/2" thick 3" wide pine board across each end, perpendicular to those "L" braces, forming a full frame for the bottom, and attaching the casters with machine screws, lock washers, and nuts through the steel and the wood instead of the sheet metal screws. The flexing of the bottom frame is totally gone, and those bolts won't work loose over time like sheet metal screws will do.
I put put actual bolts and nuts to hold them caster on sheet metal screws seems chinzy to be honest and nuts and bolts are not exspensive and the body of the box looks like it would accept nuts and bolts @15:24
Measuring by eye depends upon the value of the project. It invariably leads to more scrap and replacement efforts. Do the best you need to then take a break and review the job.
Doing alright! It's still there, not really quieter, but my ears are growing less sensitive to noise. It's not as awful as I thought when I first got it but I still wish I didn't have it.
Good video I understand why ya didn't put both machines on but it would of looked neeter with both machines looks kinda empty on the top to me but good work @55:10
HF boxes and tool carts are far superior to the new Sears boxes. I’ve owned both truck boxes & HF. Icon boxes are as good as Snap-On all day long. Go look at them then decide.

Nice to see someone else cutting plywood with a handsaw

Great tip! Thanks for sharing.
Good old days of sears and the amazing amount of tools
I would go and walk around the store and look at the tools and tool sets. It was kind of like Amazon but better. :-)
@@CTSCAPER yep I would do that as well 😃 the good old days
I had that exact tool box. Brings back memories. I almost forgot all about it. I think I gave it to my brother when I upgraded.
Real old school with the hand saw, just like my Uncle used to do. Nice job.
Sometimes it's easier to just grab the saw off the wall and go for it.
Harbor Freight 1000 lb lift table can rise to 37.5 inches high. It is a good tool to have to lift heavy items.
I've looked at them many times but could never justify the purchase. I have an engine hoist now, perhaps I can use that next time.
@@CTSCAPER the HF lift he refers to is cheaper than back surgery.

Thanks for the tip David! I'll remember that when moving the cart around.

I got a few ideas from this. Thank you for the video. No school like the old school.

Good vid. I think people watch you for your attention to detail. I know I do.

Another great visit from you! An hour isn't long enough! Glad to see you're well! ✌
Mark, I just saw your comment. It's nice to see you!
Those US General tool chests at HF are a pretty good deal actually.
Instead of sheet metal screws I would have done nutserts and button head bolts I’m actually gonna start doing that to all the bolts on my 41 inch box
I put put actual bolts and nuts to hold them caster on sheet metal screws seems chinzy to be honest and nuts and bolts are not exspensive and the body of the box looks like it would accept nuts and bolts @15:24
Used nuts and bolts with one flat washer and one lock washer on each side.
Yep, sheet metal screws will work their way out. Then the tears will start.

Great video. Keep em coming!
Good stuff , old stuff
When he pulled out the hand saw 👀 😳
I thought that would surprise some folks.
I miss sears
And the old guy who worked in the tool department who had a million stories to tell🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣
@@henrysmifth536 right
I used to go to the original sears in hamden . Spent hours walking around the tool aisles. All gone now.....what a shame.
I miss Sears so much. Perhaps I miss dreaming of all the tools I wanted to someday own.
Glad to see a video from you. Hope you are well. How's the tinnitus? Mine is getting better.

The outtakes are hilarious 🤣 @57:00
Happy Independence day buddy

Ha - we had Rickels and Two Guys!
You made a spacer and painted it red for the front casters out of steel stock but it dosen't look like you made one for the back casters @26:44
same as yours but took of sheet metal screws and put in 1/4 machine screws works great
I'm ashamed to see the USA logo on these craftsman *ding boxes. The irony pulling a welder out 🎉😅
Why not just try to put the red wheels on the grey casters
STOP FORCING THE DRAWER SHUT. You will snap off the self closing tabs. This tab is what keeps the drawer from coming out on its own.
We need more landscape videos, shrub training and pruning please
What time of year for different shrubs
Been a long time hope your well
not a fan of H F either

Harbor Freight blows Sears, and Lowes tool chest out of the water with price and quality.
I purchased the full bank service cart a couple months ago. No regrets here!
