Only if they come correct... if they leave out things like more instruments .... no sampler and more integration with other controllers I don't see it being successful with this move to a paid DAW but we shall see...thanks for the comment...😀🙏🏾

Thank you for all the knowledge you have shared with us, it helped so much in my journey into music production. I love all your videos, not just the ones about Cakewalk, but especially the ones about Reaper as these are the only two Daws I can actually afford to use.
Although there is a steep learning curve with Reaper, now that I'm adjusting to it, I believe it's capable of doing anything that any other Daw can do, and their business model seems more than fair. I hope the people at Bandlab follow up with something similar.
Yea me 2... the DAW landscape is very different all the other DAWs have caught up or surpassed Cakewalk at this point... FL Studio is going crazy right now with all it's updates about to release... alot of people are moving to Studio One and Reaper is a beast in itself that's why I had to make a channel dedicated to showing how to use it... but we shall see what they do when they release this new version of Sonar... thanks for the comment....😀🙏🏾

Dude, Im gonna miss this software. I switched DAWs many times due to me not having any money at the time and cakewalk bugging out and crashing at startup. Its a buggy mess, but Ill miss it. It was the first proper DAW I ever used, and it got me into using LMMS, which got me to buy FL studio. I remember watching your videos back around 2021 to learn how to use cakewalk, and it was super fun, learning how to do stuff with what seemed to be alien tech to me at the time. Im grateful for your tutorials, and for cakewalk. even if it doesn't wanna work anymore XD

Agreed!! I've been on Cakewalk 20 years. I'd never leave them. But they DEFINITELY need more producer based features in this arena!!!
Yea I agree as well... they will need some real improvements and for goodness sake give us a sampler and some sounds they did it for the Bandlab app they have many sounds and samples integrated hopefully the same can be done in Sonar.... we shall see...👀
I have enjoyed your Cakewalk tutorials. I have been a Cakewalk user since Greg Hendershott wrote it in the 1980s, up through all the Sonar versions. All my projects have been written with it, so I have been reluctant to jump ship for the more popular DAWs on the market now. I was glad to see Bandlab keep it going. (That was after I paid for the "Lifetime Upgrades" right before the company folded! Ha.)
It might be interesting to compare Cakewalk 2023.09 with the popular DAWs used by most composers today, especially Cubase. Can they do everything Cakewalk did? Can they do more? What's the learning curve like? How expensive are they? Who knows; it may be the best option to keep the old gray mare around, if it is rock solid and stable. If you get news about a "new Sonar" I'll be interested, especially if my projects can be transferred into it without trouble.
Yea that's the hope for the new Sonar that everything works and it can be compared to the other DAWs that are really making noise right now... they need some key elements to start to compete... better integration with devices... better stability... a sampler... and a drum rack or drum machine just to name a few ... these things will at least keep them in the running against other DAWs but we will see what they do and what price point they set... thanks for the comment...😀🙏🏾
Ive switched from Cakewalk over to Studio One, so please could you tell us about Studio One from now on? Always enjoy your channel. Ive had Cakewalk since it began. With Pro Audio 9 (from 1994 if I remember correctly), through every other iteration they offered, Cakewalk, Sonar X1, X2, Platinum, all of them. Thanks for a great channel. 😎

Yes but you have to get it now .... once Sonar comes out it will no longer be available to download... What do u mean side by side?
@@XELOhh1 Bandlab confirmed that Cakewalk by Bandlab will continue to run even after Cakewalk Sonar launches. It just won't be supported with updates any longer. So you can run Cakewalk by Bandlab and the new Cakewalk Sonar on the same computer...at least for now!

Cakewalk has now many bugs these days.. its now free but with so many problem such as not responding, its auto shutoff program while opening a project and many others. Ive been using cakewalk since its just for Midi, pro audio version, sonar, and to latest. Ive once hired as demonstrator in my homecountry by cakewalk distributor. I just wish cakewalk will get better.

Hi - thanks for all the info dude. Do you know where to get an msi copy of cakewalk I.e. an installation file should a reinstall be required???
When you download Cakewalk keep that file I don't think there is an MSI file ... store it on a flash drive or a server to download it if you need it... but all you can do is download the file from the site and save it... hope that helps😀🙏🏾
I installed it yesterday and I discovered a new bug (not in the previous version) pretty early in. It crashed CbB and I lost work. 🤦 I'm sure they've fixed a bunch of other stuff but my initial experience wasn't great. (This was just switching off an fx plugin btw, although the same in another project works fine.) This sums up my problem with Cakewalk. It does so much, and I love it, but it has a few bugs and it's not the most user friendly in some areas.
Re the new Sonar, I get the distinct impression from the forums that the first version will be basically the next version of Cakewalk. Noel said in one of the chats that it will have more instruments (while retaining the old ones).
There are plenty of free synths, samplers, etc, btw (as I know you know 😊 ). I can't tell you how many free instruments I use in CbB.
Yea I get you... but the crashing has been part of the problem that keeps coming back I know so many people that complain about stability.... I hope you have auto backup enabled it has saved me many times .. third party plugins don't always get along with Cakewalk that's why they need to get some stock instruments this will lead to less crashing I hope... 😂... but there are times TTS1 crashes Cakewalk so who knows... if people are going to start paying for Cakewalk they have alot of catching up to do to compete with these other DAWs ... they need instruments... better hard wear compatibility (get out and contact these manufacturers) just the basic control is not going to be enough anymore... and for goodness sake give us a solid sampler 😤 it's been one of the most requested things to get for a long time... they can even throw in a drum sampler that can split into mixer tracks .. and the most important stability.. but we shall see I hope they come out swinging for the fence.. thanks for the comment..😀🙏🏾

We have been waiting for 2 months and they still haven't given us a price point of what it might be for next or Sonar. It might be a hard sell because other DAWs are working very hard to get new people FL Studio is going crazy right now with mastering AI.. stem separation... the new piano roll features... lifetime updates ... Sonar has to cover a lot of ground to keep up let alone start charging but we shall see..👀

Since the thing with Cakewalk is it was/is free, why not keep in the same vein of free software and get on with Tracktion's Waveform free? It has radically different workflow from Cakewalk but it is as powerful. With the free version you don't have as much bells and whistles but with all the amazing free VSTs out there, that shouldn't be a problem. I switched some times ago to Cakewalk, from Waveform, cause I wanted to learn the more "traditional" way of recording. Now I go back and forth between the 2 depending on what I wanna do.
I feel ya... it has to many limitations for the free version for me... and didn't like the workflow... we will have to see what they do...😀🙏🏾
I might've missed it but I've updated to their latest and last update, soooo does that mean I can still use Cakewalk as it is indefinitely? Also, been kind of leaning towards FL (depending on the pricing of the new Cakewalk), but still unsure....Whats your thoughts (and anyone, really) on an alternative?
Yes you will be able to use it even after the new products come out... FL Studio is a good DAW if you make beats only... I prefer Reaper personally myself and you can open CWP files in Reaper with a script . I have my Reaper function like FL Studio piano roll with the low CPU can run more programs but it's all preference... but we will see what they do with Sonar and Next
Yes,I use reaper too, but cakewalk is far prefer by me,prochannel I love it surround panner, another good feature,the all have where they shine, reaper faster for mixing but cakewalk is rich

Yes that is true... but think about all the bugs reported and they fixed... there will be more bugs to fix and they will not unless you get Sonar... it's best for people to get it now before the new Sonar comes out because it will not be available to download anymore when it comes out... thanks for the comment...😀🙏🏾

Yes .you will still be able to use it.. but you just won't be able to update or download it after they release the new products

FL studio is moving mad lately with the new features and because of this I feel like there's room for you to do many things with it so maybe move over to FL
