    Absolutely love my 06's flaws and all. I've got the classic gold and the black and they've always held a place deep in my heart.

    There was also the Burgundy Samurai 06 pro. Another thing to consider for size factor is space issues in Japanese households and apartments.

    • @MisterRemix
      @MisterRemix 6 років тому +4

      That is a good ass point that I have never stopped to consider. Damn. Thank you!
      And the Samurais were abominations. Cheater faders!

    • @ronaldsilva8382
      @ronaldsilva8382 6 років тому

      @MisterRemix I completely understand the abominations on the Samurais and I hate them haha, but if you don't use the cheater features, just use the Xfader as normal, it's a badass sharp and clicky Xfader, I like how loose they are and the click sound on it. I just felt the same nice loose feeling with the S9 Xfader. Please just keep doing this videos more and more. Cheers.

    • @yoitsgiook
      @yoitsgiook 6 років тому

      Wait, what were the cheater features on those?

    • @freshprinceklassen
      @freshprinceklassen 6 років тому

      The Samurai series mixers Vestax made had these interesting cut off points that were assignable that would essentially allow the DJ to do a two click with a single motion and so on. Kind of a strange feature and it didn't take off, clearly, but still one of the many wonderful, adventurous attempts the company made.

    I definitely bought one on eBay a couple months ago in pretty good condition around $120 or so. I installed a Innofader PNP I kept from a while ago, it's as good as gold.

      Jarrod Fullilove Steadyawake i just took mine back out of the closet to use with 2 Handytrax for a portable rig. At this point, if the fader needs replacing, does it make sense going for the cheaper original factory part or a after-market fader. I can’t recall the original sharpness and curve.

    Loving this series. I still have two champagne 06 and a black version. Special place in my heart. Best slim-lined mixer though is the Ecler Nuo 2.0.

  • @freshprinceklassen
    @freshprinceklassen 6 років тому +6

    Also, another key feature on the 06 was the hamster switch which at the time was only available on the Q-Bert 05 and then later put on standard 05 pro models.

    People forget that balanced outputs on DJ mixers weren't a thing in the '90s because powered speakers didn't exist back then. You're making a short connection between the mixer and your power amp that's usually under your table, and running 1/4" or speakon cables to your speakers, not XLR. Most of us didn't know what a balanced connection was until the JBL EON or Mackie SRM 450 came out, and some of you STILL need to learn.

      Man I've been looking for the 06T for YEARS. I don't understand why they didn't follow up the T-Model with some serious upgrades. An 06T with a butter fader and maybe switch out one of the RCA masters with 1/4 inch. I mean it still would be my go-to mixer for everything if they just made some upgrades. Great video though--🤘🤘👌👌🖒🖒

    love this series. keep doing them...I'm not a scratch DJ(UK Old Skool hard house and hard trance/techno from the 90's where i started) but have gone through my fair share of decks and mixers over the years. I remember having one Vestax though, but it was a 4 Channel. Can't remember the name now but it was a tank. it was slightly wider than this one though hehe...had to run between the Technics they were so far apart :D

    Bought a Pro A recently for about £60 - some paint off the fader area and the line faders were stiff but everything else worked, including original PSU. Opened it up today to give the faders a clean and found it had a P&G as the crossfader instead of the standard PCV. Happy days!

    What’s crazy is that I’ve had the gold 06 since 1996. Tonight, I sold it to someone on CraigsList (box, manual, contents of box). I open UA-cam and this is the first video at the top of my list. Wishing I didn’t sell it. 😞

    That super slim Mixtick the slimmest of em all is fire. I got two Gold Mixtick, sold one of them and the remaining one has a broken headphone cue slider and very minimal sound coming off the headphones! too bad I sold the better one together with a limited edition blue PDX2000! It was a sad day for me. fortunately a friend of mine swapped his PMC05 Pro III for my Xone 22 (Xone had a bleeding fader). The sound is nice and clean just like the Xone22.

    Hi! Saw your video about the Vestax 07 Pro. I kept my 07 Pro that I bought back in 97 with the original power plug brick. I kept it inside one of them plastic bags that came with when buying a new mixer and sealed it with a tape. Still have all the original faders, fader caps, and all the knobs. It’s been sitting in my studio for years. If your still looking for an 07 in good condition, let me know. ✌🏻

    I had a choice of this or an Intimidation Apex at my price bracket. I knew little back then and went with form over function TBH as on sight the two band EQ was the decider. The only DJ purchase I regretted when I got to use Vestax mixers including this one extensively playing out a few months later.

    I have the classic 06 Pro made in japan with original ALPS faders. ProA's (the ones made in China) some had ALPS faders and some had PCV faders. Crazy thing was the 06 pro VCA you could put in a master cue switch without resistors etc (like older 06's), just drill n solder a switch. Props on the videos! Stanton SA-8 next? the mixer that was way to future for its time, how many dj mixers did you know that had individual track outs??

    The real og 06 was made in Japan. It was the ‘a’ models that were China. Good luck finding one of those or an ISP/Qbert 06 though.
    Also, I don’t think the ‘t’ had the vca fader. They marketed that as more of budget mixer in the late 90s.
    Great video though

    One thing I might add is that there were 4 different model versions of the PMC-06. That being the Samurai, the Pro, the Pro A & Pro VCA. The only main differences Ive been able to find here on the Net are: the Pro A & VCA have the ability to have a Headphone Cue switch soldered into them & the Pro having an Alps fader & the Pro A having either an Alps fader or a PCV fader & the VCA having only a PCV fader. Other than these Im not sure what other main differences there are or exactly why the VCA is the best model. Maybe someone can elaborate more?

      06 Samurai user since new here. Nice sharp cut in. Cheater faders for people who can't crab. Horrible 'brittle' digital sound quality. Truly one of the worst sounding mixers I've used, from a sound quality perspective. Passable if you're using it with a single deck for scratching (how I was still using mine till literally last week), but for actual DJing, or remotely Hi-Fi listening through it, the sound quality is absolutely atrocious.

  • @Michelle_Schu-blacka

    My PMC-06 is still going strong although I recently had to replace the crossfader after nearly twenty years.
    I thought of replacing it with a modern mixer with Traktor functionality built-in but they're all too big and have far too many features that I'll never use.

    One thing he doesn't mention on these PMC mixers was the poor quality of RCA inputs that they used. The shielding collars (RCA negative contact) would break off all the freaking time and out of the 4 I own, only one still has all of it's RCA jacks working. I've thought about getting them all refurbished, but there's no point.

    the Vestax 06-T was perfect if you had a tiny room, had less than 100 USD to buy a mixer, & wanted a backup mixer. sound quality, build quality, & crossfader build were inferior to the 05pro or 06pro, but the 6-T wasn't entry-level either (and infinitely better than Gemini-type mixers). I think I paid $60usd new. I'm always looking for one but weirdly ironic that the 05 and 06 go for 150-200 and the T go's for around 500-600 (currently) .
