This is honestly one of the most effective horror games without even being that directly scary. It gets it's horror through guilt and building empathy rather then menacing environments and disturbing imagery.
That's not horror though.

Yes... usually drama and horror don't last long in a game, as the developers don't dare to really stray from the action genre. Fortunately this game does that.
This phenomenon is called psychological horror. It doesn't spam you with visual jumpscares or play sounds that give you the shivers, but rather plays with your emotions in such a ways that keeps you uneasy, while and sometimes even AFTER playing the game. For me it does it's job much better than regular visual/sound based horror games, but y'all do y'all.

If you follow one of the dead sea scroll derived religions, that's basically all life is. A giant chess game between Yahweh and a fallen angel. When one or the other gets bored, the game ends.
I killed my bit buddy during the holiday. I felt it was probably the most morally correct choice out of a very bad set of options. I was extremely depressed at the time myself but this thing kind of helped, like made me remember the value of life again.
I enjoy your channel. It's like once Manlybadasshero finishes a game you follow up and explain the endings of that game.

I have a theory that this game is more of a metaphor for suicide. Continuously searching for something that makes life worth living, not really wanting to die deep down, but feeling the need to ‘quit’ regardless. Almost like the bitbuddy and the player are one in the same. Often the bit buddy will refer to themselves using “us.” I feel that the bitbuddy is the hopeful part of us, the part that knows we can’t give up, desperately fighting to find reason to live, while we as the player would simply rather give up entirely. Just a theory, but some parts of the game seem to indicate that quite a bit.

To add to this, when BitBuddy mentions that they hope that the “next” BitBuddy loves the player as much as they do, it could symbolize reincarnation. That they hope the next life after this one is kinder than this one.
growing up i had a fear of things like this, it made playing games like animal crossing so stressful lmao just feeling so bad bc my forgotten villagers are just stuck in the void since i missed playing it for that one day

This game breaks my heart. Almost got me into tears when he literally aged right in front of you. Atleast it was a peaceful departure compared to when you closed the game on him. Still, seeing a bit buddy die is hard to watch

Imagine what a person who isn’t in touch with reality would do. Like the people whose fav character dies or in a game, etc something happens that literally they end their life over. What if someone felt that way about this game and if they took this game seriously , too seriously and end their life over it. What if they actually believe they killed it? That’s terrifying.
Dude, people committed self game end over their favorite character in Halo 3 dying, or their favorite character in Mass Effect dying. I would not put someone game ending over something that pulls at your heart strings like this at all.

I think what they ment with that secret ending is to show how he dies in that exact position like the other meaning when we quote the game he’s forced to be stuck not able to move and dies of old age
