* These are the last live performances of both songs;
* Kurt plays his Fender JagStang right here
The Teen Spirit fans will never find us here
Teen spirit is so overrated
I like Smells like Teen Spirit. My favourite song is school though. I don't think any part of a fanbase should be alienated. Let everyone enjoy what they want to enjoy. Excuse me for making assumptions now: you don't need to dislike anything just because it's popular. It's not that cool.
I like Teen Spirit as well as Frances Farmer and Sappy. I'm especially a huge Floyd the Barber, School, Polly, and Smells Like Teen Spirit fan myself, but I love all their songs. I will never understand why we have to pigeon hole ourselves into only liking either the popular songs or the non commercial songs. Who gives a fuck? Good music is good music and Nirvana delivered that both on and off the radio.
@@arthemy2890 that lowkey is true not even gonna lie.
Only because I hear it all the time on the radio. When I first discovered nirvana that was my shit
Two underrated songs.
How I wish that these two songs were played on the radio (unlike many of the lame songs that are considered "classics" simply due the fact that the radio has to cater to the lowest common denominator)!
I hate that Journey song "Naa-na-na-na-na" So much! You know the song that I'm talking about! How that piece of shit song will go down forever as a classic while truly great music such as "Frances Farmer" and "Sappy" (as well as so many other wonderful songs from so many other bands) will never be recognized!
Sappy is one of the great Nirvana songs!
This is Nirvana, of course it is top.
Two very underated songs
the best nirvana´s songs are the less popular
Same goes for most bands honestly.
@@samsquanch1996 for some its just this song and the rest is not as good.. if it was like that all bands would be listenable to
D7
@@kornysinclair9145 it´s a cover
@@javiervera6562 was just gonna say this lol
This song should have been played many more times than it has been and far more attention should have been paid to it through the years. It's great.
I mean Frances Farmer, but... Sappy as well.
its an amazing gem that is one for those who bother to look i guess
+Hank Clock Spank Thru
How I concur! There are So many pitiful, lame songs that are played on the radio over-and-over again (and will obviously go down in history) while this awesome piece of artistic music will go by the wayside! I absolutely Hate that worthless Song by Journey that goes "Nah, nah-nah-nah-nah" (you know the song I'm talking about) that is always played by the classic radio stations (while so many Wonderful pieces of music are never recognized)!
It depends..I did..
The guitar solo in Frances Farmer song is simple ... but chills me to the soul!!
I LOVE THIS SONG SO MUCH!
Every Nirvana solo is simple but awesome
@Jefferson Andres Araujo Mendoza u can't say it's cool AF
Jefferson Andres Araujo Mendoza it’s still considered a solo
Where is there a solo?
@@jeremytheoneofdestiny8691 You can't compare an Iron Maiden solo with a Nirvana solo, but only true Nirvana fans know where the solo is!
Holy crap Krist is huge.
6''7'
2,1 metres
both literally and figuratively. grossly underrated bassist. playing frances the farmer perfectly is no small feat, its a hell of a bass part.
“Giants in the Trees”
im 6'3" and when i sat down and had a beer with Krist, he was a couple inches taller, so i think he is 6'5".
kurt’s riffs with dave grohls pounding on the drums is the best combo in the entire world
The solo from Sappy is the best one i´ve ever heard
Krt Dnld Cban is perfect
@@alexduarte9159 Uh its Kurdt Kobain thank you very much *Scoffs*
So you must listen more solos
@@38clonewars Its "Kurt Donald Cobain" youre a idiot

When kurt plays sappy, you can tell he's still really into it - he absolutely nails every single line. Not like playing a 'hit' song for the 1000th time. Such a great song so much passion for a pet frog it's ironic and powerful to the core. Frances is even more tragic and inspiring. Like all nirvana songs, impossibly real emotions
on the cusp of a truth the world will never see
That's funny. I watched this knowing it was about a month before his suicide and saw a man fulfilling a contractual obligation. I thought he was just getting it over with.
In my opinion Sappy is one of the best Nirvana songs to date
thought it was a pet turtle
Binco It was
not that anyone is gonna be reading this, but sappy's about toxic relationships, and how - especially women - get mistreated, kurt's a real big feminist, he really puts emotions into these songs but.. i don't think he likes them, he hated music by the time he commited suicide
One of the few times you can honestly ever see Kurt using his signature Jag-stang on stage
Impossible to pick a favorite Nirvana song. However gun to my head it's sappy. The solo is great and how it goes from melo to loud distortion. Just genius
Chris Hamre I agree. It’s very simple melodically he is really able to ride it like a wave a sound and gets all these cool textures out of it
also the lyrics, i always thought it was about god but i read a feminist interpretation of it that is just as valid, a hallmark of good art
@@lmn6440 some people says it's about a turtle. Anyway, sappy is my top 3 from nirvana.
I think sappy is one of those songs that seem to get better the ore you listen to it.
The first time I listened to sappy I hated it, now I like it
I like how they added Pat Smear to the band. Definitely seems to have made the band better and looks they’re having more fun with him there, too.
41 yes old now, 15 when nirvana was rockin' still jam to this day!!!
he was my hero in my school days. i miss him
Well he is not 'was'
They left us with great records but I can’t help but wonder what awesome work they could have made after their fantastic ‘In utero’
I think this is what you are looking for. A fan created Nirvana albums based on besides e studio leftovers.
ua-cam.com/video/q896_nBRuKY/v-deo.html
Not much. He hardly wrote songs anymore
@@markxv2267 he literally said that new things were coming what are you on about
@@andrewtrail5581 I believe Nirvana would've broken up even if Kurt lived. Kurt would've become a mad hermit much alike Syd Barrett... Indeed, were he alive today, he'd be unrecognizable. Dave still would've made his own band, with or without Kurt killing himself. The only difference is that RHCP release a slightly different version of Californication.
@@TadRaunch fair enough I like this ending better Than the current one
My two absolute favourite nirvana songs great video
Two underrated Nirvana songs!
How I Love getting Stoned to this video! These songs (and so many of their other songs) were so underrated!
mine too

inspired so many teens..dreamed of being a rockstar seeing cobain, like Elvis was for Lennon. Ended up being a scientist, playing guitar in my room
All Nirvana songs are underrated because they are all hit songs to my ears! Best band ever to exist!
Somehow I also miss the comfort in being sad in a strange way.
Kurt was a genius in so many ways musically. But one that rarely gets talked about is his knack for guitar tone! He created some heat son!
His live rig was pretty unconventional - Mesa Boogie guitar pre-amp into a 600W PA power amp, with a Boss Turbo Distortion (DS-2)! Put these in the hands of most guitarists and they’ll sound pretty bad but he made it work.
@@PrisonerDaround this time he was using his sansamp classic but kept his ds-2 on stage. he also used the DOD grunge for a few late ‘93 gigs, even live and loud.
@@cobussy
Wow - those DOD Grunge pedals were terrible. They basically just turn the guitar into pink noise. Kurt makes them work though somehow!
God, that man's voice..
Krist looks like a damn Giant in this haha
cobain was the last true rockstar in my opinion
kevin parker,alex turner
Floppy The Clown yeah me to
Alex Turner is one talented bastard, but he's a poser not a rockstar
KURT COBAIN WAS THE BEST!
Floppy The Clown i disagree
Kurt said in interviews he was exited in utero actually sounded like the band he was in. You really hear it here. They were on fire when this was recorded. Kurtz voice actually sounds a bit better than the record. Wow.
Absolute genius
Unlike many pathetic songs that are played on the radio (and will unfortunately go down as "classics"), simply due to the fact that the radio has to cater to the lowest common denominator!
It's just amazing how good he was getting at his song work and sad he was taken from this earth. The world needs more cobain
In death he became immortal forever
He was taken by his own hands
Theres one more Cobain ( "Frances Bean Cobain" ... )
Kurt was Jesus for a generation of kids from fucked up homes. He died so we could live
@@moshewakatelutiw6233 shut up emo
good night to all !!!
"I miss the comfort in being sad"
I saw the date of this performance and my heart broke all over again.
It is a shame they didn't record Frances Farmer like this, because the double kicks Grohl sneaks on the instrumental is subtle but shows how good he was.
Awesome yet underrated songs in awesome quality! :-) Thanx a lot!!:-) Cheers! :-)
Long Live Kurt
I lost the comfort in being sad
To the original poster, thank you beyond words for adding this. It captures Kurt perfectly and I'm so glad I found this!
So.. I would kill to hear a Kurt and Layne Staley Mashup 🤙🏼
Rhythm is faster than on the album and it sounds great.
I just came from some videos of their 1991 concert at the Paramount Theater, watching Kurt perform these 2 songs compared to those made me immediately think "Look at him. He's given up. He looks like he's tired, he's not having fun. He's just done for and resigned to it." Then I looked at the description under this video, February 1994. One month left until he's gone. He really did give up long before he actually ended it. This dude could've done anything, stepped away from touring for awhile, stepped away from the public for awhile, took a few years even to get his head straight, all of that was available, and yet he didn't see it. Why did he let life and the people around him beat him down without trying to change things. A permanent solution to a temporary problem. It's just such a waste.
The ugly beauty of life is that we make our own decisions ..that no one else would understand ..because they're not us✌️
So perfect watching this while stoned!
thank you for sharing
NIce job. tnks!
This is GOLD!
Two of my favorites hands down 💜🤘
This is pure gold.
Loved this, loved In Bloom too..
Absolutely brilliant
Say what you want about pat, But i think that nirvana's some of the besat live shows were done as a four piece
*Pap
Bleach was 4 piece era nirvana and also super awesome. So you're on to something there
I've never heard anyone say anything bad about Pat Smear.
My two favorites hands down
i bought a fender jaguar because of this man. i’m also lefty. forever kurt ♥️

When I hear these songs Nirvana makes, it makes my inner devil come out
Kurt miss you so much..
Uno de los mejores temas lejos!!!😎☝🇦🇷
When I listen to In Utero and some of their unreleased songs it makes me sad he’s gone because he was really hitting his stride as a songwriter
rip kurt
Sappy has this backbeat like hey Mickey You're So Fine. I always am shaking my head when I listen. so endlessly catchy.
This is including on my top 5 Nirvana song
Tears me up that they paraded him onstage like this. So far from home. He didn’t want this. I’ve loved him since I was 13. I’m 27 now. I don’t think I’ll love any man as much as him. I imprinted and that was that.

This was one of their final performances. You can see Kurt is really drained and down. Even sits in the guitar solo. It's a tragedy he passed away so soon after this show.
Kurt be like "I don't have to sing in the solo so I'm gonna sit"

I LOVE YOU KURT

...so exquisite. bye!
Daaaaa Yes
Frances Farmer was a beautiful, smart, talented and autonomous/rebellious Hollywood star. She had resisted for long, but was broken in the end. The movie Frances (1982, feat. Jessica Lange) is a must see.
She'll come back as fire, to burn all the liars, leave a blanket of ash on the ground...
Powerful stuff!!
I love the sound off the Jagstang, I don't understand why he hated it so much
Did he hate it? Where have you learnt that? Never met the fact...
@@helengvozdovskaya5385 Yeah apparently he hated the sound of the Jag Stang which is why he rarely used it, the pickups were still in the process of being made in 1994 but they never changed it sound after he died
@@JamieDriver Thanks! But it's really sad that it went like this.
God this song is the fucking best! I wish people praised it more. Like someone else send below, why do they always have to play the Nirvana "classics" from Nevermind only on the radio. It's not that those songs suck, they don't. But people who only know Nirvana for SLTS or Come as You Are are missing out on SO MUCH! This song is honestly one of my favorites of in utero and of nirvana as a whole. I'm sad.
I never understood that
Not comfortably sad tho?
Is that the Jag-Stang ? 😍
Sure is!
I miss the comfort in being sad.
Vocals and everything is great here. Usually earlier stuff is better imo but this is great
Crazy that Kurt would be dead a little less than 2 weeks later.
He died April 5th

I saw that but I couldn't edit it. I guess I forgot that there is a month called "March". ;)
he tried to kill himself very soon after this though. re the rome incident.
Two months
The doctors said that he DIDN'T try to kill himself, and Kurt said likewise!!!!! Courtney was very suspicious in the whole thing!!
hear the people clapping at the beginning of frances farmer? im high now but it seems like they don't know the song so they clap to 'help' the artist to me
Trinta anos ouvindo e estudando o Nirvana e acho (tô chapado) que nunca tinha visto a segunda música (que tem vários nomes) ao vivo.
