Very enjoyable and informative analysis of this classic film. I'm old enough to have seen Alien and Aliens in the theatre and of course was completely floored by both. Ridley Scott's original was simply unlike anything that had come before it in it's look and feel. The crew with their dinner table conversations in the opening scenes talking about job descriptions and bonus pay, The look of the Nostromo with it's corridors of hanging chains and dripping water and truly terrifying alien creatures. Cameron's follow up was so different with the military theme and yet stands on it's own as such a worthy successor. I agree with all your points, especially about how it's it's practical effects and realistic hardware is so superior to much of today's cartoonish CGI. Some of those Marvel movies. Yikes. Fellow Canadian Denis Villeneuve is keeping it real in the Dune films as well. By the way I would love to see you take more trips "down memory lane" and always look forward to your content.

Big thanks once again Mark. I'm envious of your cinematic first viewing of these films. I'm not young but sadly missed out of the experience of all that. Luckily I do have fond memories of discovering these treasures on VHS as a kid and sneakily watching them without my parents knowing haha. I also enjoyed Dune and look forward to watching the second. I think I'll be talking about The Thing next as this is for me on par with Alien and I love everything about that film also. Thanks again for your support dude, take care.

This, Sir, is a great breakdown and analysis. As a survivor species it is entirely plausible they hibernate when there is a lack of food to sustain significant activity. And with seemingly no-one left alive in the colony they wouldn't need to go for walks looking for extra food.

Being an 8 year old in the early 90s meant I could bunk off of school, watch Die Hard, and watch Aliens. It was total bliss. Left alone in the house and absolutely piling in to my dad’s coveted VHS collection. Thanks for placing the rose tinted spectacles for me. Great video.

The analysis of the movie is brilliantly delivered, dude even tho the likes and the views dont make you justice, please dont give up, and give us more awesome content!! Oh and my favorite character in this movie was Vasquez, not only does she share my last name but she was a badasss latina soldier and around that time not many latinos were represented, soo she was like the best in my eyes when i was little, one of my platonic chrushes when i was young!!! Good work dude!!!

Super kind words Jamie and all the more reason for me to keep enjoying my passion projects here on UA-cam, thanks so much dude 😎. Wow, yeah it's wonderful when you are able to find a character so relatable as a kid watching these brilliant films, especially when they share your name. I always wanted to be Like Michael Biehn from the terminator as a kid, epic acting from that man in all his films. But I agree with you on Vasquez, she at least to me was able to represent not only a different culture but women soldiers in a way that felt natural and not forced like you see nowadays. Complete f*****g badass indeed. Glad you liked the vid and yes, many more to come my friend, stay tuned and stay entertained 👍

The best movie sequel ever. Action, adventure, suspense and horror all in one amazing package. A true classic. Cameron took Ridley Scott’s xenomorph and gave it more depth and detail. His additions make the creature equally chilling, but way more dangerous. I do believe that the hosts are food for the hive and are tidied away once they have served their purpose. The “Runner” Alien in Alien 3 was seen to consume its victims having killed them, I believe the same would be true of other Xenomorphs. Great video.

Well done & spot on, mate. I think the entire mission to LV426 was a direct concoction by W-Y from the very beginning. Else why would they put someone like Gorman in charge of it unless it was setup to fail. The fact that Burke was "along for the ride" is the main cue. As many others think, the decision to "kill off" Newt & Hicks at the beginning of A3 was a slap in the face to the fans, but that rant belongs in another place and time. Cheers. :)

You are right, all the signs were there, yet "Is this gonna be a stand-up fight, Sir, or just another bug hunt?" implying the Marines had been in stand-up fights with something and hunted bugs before, this line has always um bugged me.
The fact Gorman had "combat drops" shows they were fighting something, who were the fighting the Soviet Union?

I see this scene as a reconstruction of the vietnam war's early days. The American's were overconfident had very little understanding of how the enemy fought, lived, survived and thought. They threw themselves into situations that got them killed in far greater numbers than needed. They were sometimes overrun by a seemingly less equipped enemy. Worse of all they were sent by a government who were more concerned about an outcome rather than individual lives.

I believe that the company had some dirt on Gorman and knew they could use it to control him if needed while on the mission. That’s why he was selected to lead this team of misanthropes. It’s very evident with the scene in which the face huggers are put into the room with Ripley and Newt. Just before she goes in there she passes Gormans room. And who is in there with him? Burke. I started thinking how would a soft as marshmallow fluff, corporate stooge, Burke able to lift those tanks and dump them into the room without help. He couldn’t have. Gorman must have helped him. Burke was probably in his room reminding him of the dirt they had on him and telling him to help get Ripley and Newt impregnated. Also at the beginning of the movie. It’s Burke and Gorman that show up at Riply’s apartment to convince her to go.

Excellent theory my dude. It makes perfect sense and the same can be said about many politicians 😉. I wish I added that the video now, if only I thought that far into it. I love movies that don't over explain and leave room for such possibilities.

@@ENTERTAINtheDUDE Hey thanks dude. You could probably make a video on that theory alone. I got really excited when it first hit me. I even tried contacting James Cameron on Instagram. Asked him if I was right. But of course he never replied. Lol. I’m with you on the over explaining things. Way too much of that in movies these days. I always thought Predator was a great example of successfully getting a story across without a lot of dialogue or narration. There’s enough subtle suggestions that convey what the being was. And enough left out to make your imagination go wild. Which made it that much more frightening.

This is a great point. I shall re-watch just to catch this scene. It would point to how incredibly smart James Cameron is in story- and screen-writing to have this little scene to plug any potential plot holes. With people realising there may be one. I certainly hadn't considered how Burke got the test tubes of the pedestals and into the room by himself. Two of them even. Well done!

First person to even consider they weren't already dead at start of the investigation 😂 funny how even in 2200 marines are forced to use outdated gear w crap cameras 😂😂 the squad seem like they never saw much real action. Just settlers a "bug hunts" they were never ready for what they walked into. They were there more as conformation of threat then to actually wipe it out. Hence aliens 4
Omg 9:55 the shotgun was not hidden! 😂😂 didn't you watch the film? They were told no armor piercing only chose quarters weapons. Aka handgun and shotgun vs long rifle
Mathew impressed the director an made him wish he'd written more for him after seeing him on set on camera.
Ahh Newt. She represented Ripleys now adult deceased daughter. A mother wo a child am child wo a mother. Literally the only two humans known to have survived the terror. She found purpose in Newt. It was her rebirth in a world that was not her time. Corman was a newb but was not a bad guy.
