Hello ladies I am 51 and haven’t done a cotton picking thing with my face. Yeah I look in the mirror and see things that a typical lady in her 50s would start seeing eventually, and they make me go WHOA 😮 or ewwww or just plain ol yuk! Then I get a grip and allow myself some grace. I remember that I’m not 30 anymore and I don’t want to be 30 ever again!! I love my age and would never want to be younger! I am so much more confident and self assured at 51 more then I ever was. I feel like whatever age flaws that have crept in can stay! AND if anyone else doesn’t like the way I look without makeup or doesn’t like the way I do my makeup then don’t look! 🤣That’s another perk about being older you don’t give a crap! 🤣
I really love hearing this. I'm 35 and struggling with ageing. But I'm also in that place, I would NEVER want to go backwards. Growth, always. Never look back, you are not headed there!
I think Instagram should have a warning label to highlight when images have been photoshopped or filtered. So many kids look at these ridiculous pictures and as their bodies are still developing don’t understand that these aren’t real bodies. Adults look at can see its fake but I don’t think kids have the mental resilience to not compare themselves in a really harmful negative way.
Love this! My lips are small. And for the longest time I always wanted lip filler, and maybe I still will get it one day. But then I realized It's ok to not all look the same. Also, I have noticed mannnyyyyy influencers I follow are getting their lip filler dissolved!! And that was eye opening that beauty trends don't last forever. Great vid! x
If that is you in the picture, your lips might not look as small as you think--you look symmetrical and to me your lips look nice. You're pretty! But I'm also a fan of being happy with yourself. Some days I feel I have no existing top lip, so I understand lol
Shows so much confidence in a women to not fall for the lip filler trend, good for you for being happy and loving your natural self enough to not fall for every trend 😊
It’s great to look different! Don’t follow the trend and become as if you are one of anyone. Don’t waste your time! If you like the way you look even though it’s not in fashion now then so what!? You are pretty as you are. There are natural ways of enlarging your lips by simply doing facial exercises. Invest your t8me into searching the ones that are best for you instead. You will appreciate this type of investment years later. Believe me. And it will save you money too. X
sorry hairdressers - but I really dislike with obsession with the super long extensions. (real hair extensions creep me out anyway - it's like wearing somebody else's hair that grew out of their skin - ewwwwww)..... (alopecia and other medical conditions exempted of course)
Also, there is a spiritual aspect to that as well. Many women in third world countries are forced to sell their hair as a means to survive unfortunately, dark spirits can and will attach themselves to living beings, especially those who are willing empty vessels. Hair is life, so if given with bad intentions best believe it will come with dark energy thus affecting the individual who wears that crown of hate and discontent. Please beware my sister's.........
I feel like we need more representation of “average”. We are getting there, but a lot of brands are doing super skinny/fit and “plus” size, where there’s not much in between. I’m beyond happy that plus sizes are being represented, but what about everyone else in between? Someone with a tummy or real arms or thighs instead of a six pack or flat stomach? You can be a size 2 or 4 and still have some “fluff” and you can be a size 6-8 and have a rock hard body. We need representation of ALL body types. I think showing this stark difference between “regular” size and “plus” size is not only unrealistic, but also creates a huge gap where women feel like they are either or and if you’ dont have a typical model body, you must be plus size or becoming plus size. This can create body dismorphia and eating disorders and mental health issues surrounding our bodies. There’s nothing wrong with being plus size, as long as we strive to be healthy. But, there’s nothing wrong with being those other body types either. Hopefully the industry will get to the point where any and all bodies can be thrown in and ad and no one blinks an eye.
Amen to this. I am 38-40 European size and the diversity in models doesn't really help to understand how a piece of clothing would look on me. Am I extremely skinny? No? Plus size? Still far from it. Brands are now caught into the wave of displaying 'interesting' body types but they forgot to include 'regular, nothing special' one. Honestly, it has been easier to pick clothing looking at models because I new easily how my body deviates from them. Now it's a puzzle of "I don't have that gorgeous latina bum, how would these pants look on me?"
I liked the topic of the fillers. I tried to stop a friend from doing because she kepted referencing a photo of a girls lips she wanted. I kept reminding her that those lips look that way because they are on a different girl...so hers will not look the same. Especially since my friends lips are actually to die for ... she did it anyways and it was awful. She cried for months over it until she could get it dissolved.
I agree with all your points. Also love your mature demeanor and how you don’t ramble in your videos like other UA-camrs. I always enjoy your videos. Thank you.
I so agree with you on fillers. The hair thing that bugs me is the super deep side part. Then pulling it over like a bad comb over. People are going to regret that look in the future, like baby bangs.
Happy new year, dear! So glad that a beauty promo like you talks so sincere about these trends , especially that many are so unrealistic and do not promote natural beauty and confidence🤗🤗🤗🤗
I know nothing, but I'm going to get extensions soon and they're going to be the sew in micro-bead weft type. It's apparently the least damaging on the hair, and good for very fine hair (like mine). It can give length and/or volume. I've had extensions before - clip-ins which never look that good on me. And more recently, keratin bonded extensions. These kind of ruined my hair. Blegh.
This may be a dumb question but for the slicked back pony, is the issue how tight the pony is or is it the slicking back itself? Because I do this but I don’t pull the hair that tight mainly because I can’t so it ends up being slicked but not flat to my head... but regardless I don’t want to damage my hair :(

I feel the same way about high waist jeans. I’ve seen them come around twice and hated them the first time. They do nothing for the derrière or your overall look. There’s a reason why they called them “mom”jeans.

Miss Sylvia, I know you are an extremely talented, busy, workin it kind of woman.. but would you please consider doing a review of your opinion on the new Redken Acidic Bonding Concentrate line? You have taught me and helped me so much with my hair. Thank you ❤️
Always respect your opinions. Love all your videos. But the bleached streak framing the face was trending when I was a teenager waaaay back in the EARLY 70’s. My hair was bleached framing my face in my high school grad pic. Ugh.
I understand what you're saying with the Ariana Grande ponytail Look at JoJo Siwa's lopsided receding hairline from all those years of wearing her signature side ponytail. I'm guessing the only way she could fix that is probably hair plugs.
You show us some cute alternatives to the ponytail....Even though it would'nt do too much good for me personally because my hair is shoulder length right now and doesn't go up very well.
Can you do a video on how to handle a botched hair color?? Are refunds even an option with hairstylist if it comes out horrible?? Do aka them to fix it, ask for a refund or just deal with it ☹️☹️
Yes, absolutely ask them to fix it! Ideally, you should say something before even leaving the salon, and give the stylist or the owner a chance to fix it immediately. But if you didn't realise how bad it was until you got home, or if you were too shy or too upset to say anything right away, you can and should still bring it up. You might not get a refund, but free fixing it is usually a strong possibility.
One trend that I really can't get behind is the one half of the head one color, and the other half a different color which is often parted down the middle. This is mostly done with fashion colors. I just think it doesn't look good. I'm fine with the top of the hair being one color and the bottom of the head a different kind of peek-a-boo color but other than that I'll pass. I totally agree with you about the money piece. It just doesn't look good with the rest of the hair. It literally makes me uneasy whenever I see it.
I only did it once when my hair was long and platinum (Elsa level) and I did a streak of pastel pink down one side. I’d do it again, but then, “sophisticated” is admittedly not really my brand. 😝
Happy Saturday to you and hope everything is going well for you and you look so beautiful and God bless you and stay safe and healthy. Love 💘, so much 💓
The stripes in the front was Just mindblowing to me that this is a "trend" now :D i saw it in the 90s and as you said it was fun but it needs to stay in the 90s ;)
Yup. As Amy said, if it’s done a certain way you likely wouldn’t even notice. I’ve definitely complimented a couple friends on looking really vibrant/refreshed lately, and been a little embarrassed when they laughed and said “oh, it’s filler!” - a tiny bit in your frown lines, under eye or nasolabial fold can be extremely subtle and just look like you’ve gotten a lot of sleep lately! :)
(I’ve never done it myself, I’m too poor, but I’d consider it mainly for one annoying deep line on my forehead that always creases my makeup and ages me more than I wish.)
Omg ! It’s called “ money piece “ hair now ??? We did this over 20 years ago with our hair !! 😂😂 Just goes to show you - that hairstyles recycle themselves. 😆
As a student of Dermatology I would like UA-camrs/people to stop promoting at home Microneedling! they don't understand needle depths and the damage it can cause to your skin. I also don't agree with Pore vacuum devices at home, it is natural to have sebum in your pores and using a natural cruelty free cleanser can help clean pores and blackheads. That's just my opinion.
Clip on hair extensions. I have yet to see any that look natural and not like a horses tail just hanging lifelessly with no movement or bounce to them, plus they always look so dull.
You know another trend that needs to stop is those tension strings that people are putting on there face to lift their eyes and give the eyebrows a more straight across look!!! it gimmicks “Asian” eyes. Not cool!!!
Also in selfies, your lips can look smaller from the high angle we that might be flattering to the rest of our face - which can warp our perception and make us think we have smaller lips than we do and need to make them bigger honestly medium sized lips are considered the most attractive by men in a studies where they view a bunch of faces and rate their attractiveness. Usually medium sized lips are more balanced with the rest of your face and inflating your lips to an unnatural size for your face throws it off.
They are overdoing eyebrows, especially with micro blading. I have seen some bad ones. Eyebrow shapes and thickness change with trends but if you micro blade to get the really big look and shape of today, you may regret it later. I also see faded micro bladed brows which looks like an old lady who drew them on. Not saying it's all bad though, but it's one of those things that can be overdone.
High waisted Jean's! Good lord I feel like a stuffed sausage. Now, the hard part is finding jeans that sit right below the bellybutton.. Stop the 15" rise or ateast make other options as well.

I feel the same way about high waist jeans. I’ve seen them come around twice and hated them the first time. They do nothing for the derrière or your overall look. There’s a reason why they called them “mom”jeans.
Would love to see a video on the opposite side of this. Especially your pick of styles to use that are less damaging than slick ponytails
Hello, I just wanted to say your amazing &I love the method you showed using the EQ it definitely worked out in my client hair ? Can you show us how you use EQ going from blonde & low lights back to Brunette please thank you and have a wonderful day💖
where did you get that coat?! I love it!
HI there! Can you please tell me which shampoo in your experience is a good clarifying shampoo? I’m a Clovid silver gal and need to use purple shampoo to keep it from yellowing but in order to keep from build up, I know I need to clarify each time I do the purple. Can you please give me some advice for clarifying shampoo or other treatment? I was told to add baking soda to my shampoo....? I appreciate your time and thoughtful reply!!
Miss Sylvia, I know you are an extremely talented, busy, workin it kind of woman.. but would you please consider doing a review of your opinion on the new Redken Acidic Bonding Concentrate line? You have taught me and helped me so much with my hair. Thank you ❤️
I love your shirt! Where did you get it?
the shaket was an amazon purchase.
So glad I pay zero attention to celebrities so I'm neither influenced nor aware of these trends.
I feel you 😄😄😄
Always respect your opinions. Love all your videos. But the bleached streak framing the face was trending when I was a teenager waaaay back in the EARLY 70’s. My hair was bleached framing my face in my high school grad pic. Ugh.
Where is that shacket from girl!?! I looked on Amazon but I can’t find it
I understand what you're saying with the Ariana Grande ponytail Look at JoJo Siwa's lopsided receding hairline from all those years of wearing her signature side ponytail. I'm guessing the only way she could fix that is probably hair plugs.
You show us some cute alternatives to the ponytail....Even though it would'nt do too much good for me personally because my hair is shoulder length right now and doesn't go up very well.
Please post where you got your jacket.
This is an awesome video and should seriously be a public service!!
haha
Is your jacket from shein too and kinda itchy on the inside so u have to wear a long sleeve with it?
Hi lm from India and I was wondering is the going blond tecnique or products different for different ethnicity?
Omg i hate that bright piece in the front (bang area) looks ridiculous. Idk they bought that back
Money piece
Some of us have that naturally.
I only did it once when my hair was long and platinum (Elsa level) and I did a streak of pastel pink down one side. I’d do it again, but then, “sophisticated” is admittedly not really my brand. 😝
If i use my hair up in a bun sometimes ?? is that ok my hair is growing now even though iam still on chemo
I love this post! And your hair is so beautiful 😻
Your hair color is so beautiful!
🥰 your clothing! Especially the jacket
Jacket???from where please
Pretty sure it’s from Laura Lee’s clothing boutique, shopnudiepatootie.com! I got one that looks just like that from there
@@sydvyd27 thank u ☺️ 🤍
Zara has a ton !
@@BelindaBuzz thank you
The shaket was an amazon purchase, influenced by somewherelately on IG
Please post a nail tutorial for your nails 😍. Love!!
I have posted gel nails video in the beginning of our first lockdown
@@Ellebangs ooh perfect! I’m just getting into doing gel nails lol. I’ll have a look. Thank you ❤️
You're such a great presence on UA-cam.
Aw thanks for making my day love!
WOW WHERE is your flannel from? So pretty.
it looks very similar ( if not the same), to a plaid coat i saw on shein's website
where is that jacket from??
Nothing burns my eyes more than filler. I've never seen it look good in person. It always looks scary.
When it's done well you don't see it
Love you top!! Where is it from?
Aww, you look beautiful! Thanks for sharing your great tips as always. 💗🤗😘💞
I'm learning so much from you.Thank you!!!
The lighter strips of hair color is on it's 3rd round, not 2nd. I colored my hair like this in 1975! Lol
Loved your feedback. And agree :)
What a sweet sign off! I love this woman. Thank you for sharing these insights!
Omg ! It’s called “ money piece “ hair now ??? We did this over 20 years ago with our hair !! 😂😂
Just goes to show you - that hairstyles recycle themselves. 😆
It comes back like every 20 years the trends hah kits crazy!
Thanks a lot. Young and wise. Do love it👏
You know another trend that needs to stop is those tension strings that people are putting on there face to lift their eyes and give the eyebrows a more straight across look!!! it gimmicks “Asian” eyes. Not cool!!!
💯 very well said thank you
Also in selfies, your lips can look smaller from the high angle we that might be flattering to the rest of our face - which can warp our perception and make us think we have smaller lips than we do and need to make them bigger
honestly medium sized lips are considered the most attractive by men in a studies where they view a bunch of faces and rate their attractiveness. Usually medium sized lips are more balanced with the rest of your face and inflating your lips to an unnatural size for your face throws it off.
I now have done this over done front money piece twice in my career! Ugh!
Agree with everything said!
thanks love!
Love this video! ❤️
Oh I love that flannel 😍
Yes , I remember the money piece back in the day too .
Your lips were better without filler, tbh. Everyone has asymmetrical lips, big deal, leave them alone. You are naturally beautiful.
High waisted Jean's! Good lord I feel like a stuffed sausage. Now, the hard part is finding jeans that sit right below the bellybutton.. Stop the 15" rise or ateast make other options as well.
Foxy eyes need to go!!!
I couldn't agree more!
I think Everyone should do what makes them happy - REGAURDLESS of what "others"! Right ''Ella' ?? but thank for YOUR opinions.
Along the lines of the photoshopping of the body to Kim K’s body type are the people getting these incredibly dangerous body enhancing surgeries like BBL and Rib removal. You can’t undo that trend like filler
I fully agree to everything!
Sending hugs!!!
thank you beautiful! Needed that
Your hair and makeup are perfect
Agree with all spot on 🙌🏼🥰
For me a trend I feel like should end is the Fake Freakles
The ridiculously long cheap looking false eyelashes needs to definitely die and never come back! 👁🦇👁🦇
