Thanks Morgan, strip it, clean it, and add the piston when shipping.
Yep
HEYYYY...REALLY COOL TO SEE the old penton sitting there...I HAD that bike back in 74... haha great memories ! if u had a penton you were a serious cat !
Another option instead of heating those bolts that I have found works well to keep from stripping is to hit them using a brass drift a couple times. Has worked great for me.
That is another great way to do it
Removing all the carbon buildup from the power valve components can be difficult but Pryme MX sells cleaning wheels that mount to any bench grinder and they make easy work of it.
Good informational video Morgan. Saving money is always , even if you have to put in a little bit of elbow grease.
I know from experience, if you have a yz250 you have to send all 3 power valves as well for them to check fitment!
Good to know. Thanks for the info.
Thanks Morgan!
Welcome back to UA-cam, all the way from Mexico.👍🏼 I am aware you have done a Gospel episode, previous.
Great repair video mate, luv ur work 👍
Thanks
Glad to hear Millennium is a good choice. I just sent my cylinder there.
Good choice!
Great info!!! I may be getting to that point on one of mine. Thanks.
Thank You.
Excellent presentation.
Milennium did a wonderful job for me on my '09 ktm 300.
I ran it too long on the stock piston (400 race n trail miles).
Thought i better check it even though it ran great and didnt sound like it had piston slap.
The b piston woukdn't bring it back to tolerance so off to millenium with an a piston.
With 6 thou clearance before work, (max recommended is 4 thou) I have been lucky not to crack a piston and ruin the engine.
It runs so much more snappy now :-)
I've found that there is no reason to section a right and left power valve parts assembly. Get all of the parts off, clean and then when you're ready, re-install and adjust the power valve per spec. It's not like you can get those parts mixed up if you start from scratch. Your vids are great and very helpful.
On the old days you could swap the side barrels and it goes together but the close when the flapper is open
@@highlandcycles good to know. By the way, there is no way that I know anywhere near you, nor can I tech on a bike as good as you. You're truly a super technician and I love watching your shlogs, it's very impressive the amount of knowledge and skill you have! Thanks Morgan!
Cleaning parts is always what takes the longest time when working on engines, or anything else. But…it is extremely important!
Yep
I would 100% help fund a vapor blaster if it meant free blasting in the future.
Is that a green tanked Penton 125 in the background?
I was wondering the same thing. But it almost looks like a bull taco Sherpa t With a green tank.
Yes it is. Stay tuned for some cool stuff.
Super helpful video, I was just looking to send my yz125 cylinder to them. I was wondering what advice do you have for ordering an A, B or C size piston for the replacement? Thanks in advance.
I would get an A so that they bore it to that size then you can get B and C as you start wearing it in over time
Yes, if you are getting the cylinder re plated, get an A piston so as you replace top ends you can go up to match bore until you need to re plate again.
@@highlandcycles Great thank you. You make some of the most entertaining and informative dirtbike content on UA-cam.
@@claycoolpepper221 thanks
What timing. I'm tearing down my engine next weekend.
Do you still recommend millennium technologies for cylinder repairs? My 2023 ktm 300xc with 56hours just blew up put a hole through the bottom end.
That sucks. Yes I do!
