Went to a saxophone work shop at my local jazz fest back in probably 2019, and the guy giving the workshop told us to put our reeds on that way and I’ve genuinely never looked back to the old method of reed then lig. Lig first then reeds always! I want to keep my bari reeds safe!
So did anyone else end up with higher strength reeds sooner than they were supposed to be the music store ran out of the strength you were currently using?
I see you have some weird gunk on your mouth piece. I learned from some kind folks that soaking it in water/white vinegar (3/1 ratio) for about twenty to thirty minutes then lightly scrubbing can help clean your mouth piece. If not all the gunk is gone, you can repeat or try with a 2/1 ratio of water to vinegar.
Same, mine is leather and the only difference (other than the material it's made of) is that the screws go on top, or in the way he said it, facing away from you
I’m not much of a reed snob. I think Juno reeds are super easy to break in and make a good sound almost immediately. Rico is cheap and works alright. I hear good things about Vandoren as a slightly better version.
I’ve been playing my clarinet for 7 whole years, and kept breaking my reeds like this. You a real one bro!😭
As a flute player I find this very interesting 🧐
Real😭
Real
As an oboeist that started on violin, i find this very interesting

Reeds expensive talk about my oboe reeds😭
As a French horn I need this because I have to play the sax as a pass time
As a percussionist I have never been given greater advice
for ligatures with only one screw, the screw will face away but still be on the right
As a trombonist, I have some, but really no idea what is happening here.
as a tuba player i dont know why im interested in this
This is why i'm so glad I play trombone😂
Day 34 of asking Scott and jimmy oboe
Letzzz goooo chat I'm first idk if saw the other 2 comments but Mr knicl you should collab with the other band director named Ms Allen
I always put my reed on the mouth peice before I put the ligature on
Not the chipped reed at the beginning I can’t-
How do you prevent your upper front teeth from flairing?
I switched to oboe to mitigate this
So did anyone else end up with higher strength reeds sooner than they were supposed to be the music store ran out of the strength you were currently using?
That chipped reed triggered me.... 😭
I play tuba so good thing I can’t break my mouthpiece easily😅😭
Is there mold on the reed or just a shine
Even tho I do reed first I have never broken a reed doing that

As a trumpet and flute player… this seems like too much work for my laziness😭😭 i do wanna learn clarinet tho

Mr knicle!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
I'm not even lying that chipped reed looks just like mine, tenor sax reeds are too expensive: (
You should recommend where you get your reeds from cuz like you said, reeds are expensive

Wtf I've been taking the ligature off and putting it back on for 5 years
Not as expensive as oboe reeds, or bassoon reeds
Let’s go I’m second
as a tuba player I find this weird
As a saxophone player I find the way you put on a reed very offensive
