Joel was a legend surviving the curse for 6 days, and the fact that he got unphased and kept moving like a soldier seeing the illusion of Rose burning shows how mentally strong and determined he was, Skye lost control day 2 and he was a genius and a real stand up guy trying to pass the curse to murderous drug dealers, and the worse thing is he got free of the demon and just died an unfortunate death.
Yeah Skye sucked, she got possesed after 2 days because her mind was so weak after drug use. Pretty much her meeting with Morris was the last real thing she did before succumbing into illusion. She should had went with him right away.
@@Someguyy867 Loool why do ppl enter a comment about one person just to talk about someone else entirely. Do agree Naomi needs a couple horror movies for scream queen, but this was a fantastic start
The 7 stages of grief 1- What if Gemma is fake 2- Oh no she is fake 3- Wait she's real, she was actually there with maccias 4- Oh shit she killed her mom 5- Oh no Gemma isn't even in the car IT WAS ALL FAKE THEY HAVEN'T EVEN MET IN A YEAR 6- Wait so every single thing after waking up at the clinic has been fake 7- Smile 3: Pandemic
I just realized the smile monster is a good description of mental health. The fear, anxiety, ptsd, depression, seeing things. I had a car accident 14 years ago and my ptsd and anxiety still get me today then I got out of narcissistic abuse just back in 2023. Can’t believe I never noticed that before but seeing it from someone in he spotlight with history of trauma it makes sense
Also both Rose and Skye lose in the two films because they push away those that can help them. Rose chose to run off to her childhood home to face the demon alone. Skye didn't take Morris' or anyone's help until the very last minute when it was already too late -- Morris even stated earlier that she's on her third day and people normally don't make it further. It's kinda a whole thing about how you cannot face mental health by yourself.
I kinda believe the Trauma Demon is actually a representation of “The Fregoli” delusion is a mental disease when someone believes that multiple people are actually the same person in disguise, which, as shown in the first film, is the Smile Entity and that’s how Laura's description of him "wearing people's faces like masks.", and another fact is that Skye's friend who dies by suicide is named as Lewis Fregoli (a reference of the disease)
What i like here is that they incorporate the same clothing style as the previous movie, where at the start they look either professional, neat, or glamorous and at the middle or almost end part of the movie they are wearing baggy, comfy, or just dark colored clothes, showing their psyche slowly deteriorating because of the trauma and experience
@@OfficialMediaKnights When will you watch DaCosta's Candyman? And oh yeah, i forgot to tell that i also picked up the clothes detail on Dead Meat, sorry 😅😅
Not just that. Remember as stated in the video, Skye life is basically split into three, Her life as a public figure, her life as a product, and her life as a person. Throughout her career she trained to separate those aspect of her life evently. But as the movie goes, the more intense everything get, all those three lifes she had blend into one another. Each of them ruining the other, and hell probably even before this movie happened.
I still remember when everyone thought smile was gonna be a truth or dare rip off and therefore it was gonna be horrible seeing as truth or dare was reasonably horrible, and here we are with not only a good first movie but a very decent sequel especially in this day and age, it’s rare…I wonder when you guys are gonna dive into the world of Terrifier, in the words of Doc Brown “Your gonna see some serious shit”.
If Lewis texted Skye to come over and has no memory of it, THAT is probably how Joel was able to find Rose at her own family home. The Entity had Rose go through that whole illusion just to buy it enough time for Joel to come over. This thing is cunning, devious and rational, but a vile abomination nonetheless.
Was Rose even trying to kill herself at that home? She seem like she just wanted to face the demons and hopefully survive by letting him possess her while theres nobody around to traumatize. She should had bring a weapon instead.
@@MrConredsX Rose never once considered just unaliving herself and free the world of this demon. Actually you can't blame her, because no one ever did that, or would do that- but keep on finding the alternative. Rose thought that the source of power for that Demon was Rose's trauma induced by her mother. For the most movie- it was Rose's battle against her childhood trauma, and that patient from whom the demon was passed on to her was never a problem for her, because she must've seen or heard similar scenes dozens of time at her job. While disturbing, Rose's actual demon were the final days with her mother that she had never reconciled with, and not the patient herself. The demon has clearly upped its game. It fears people like Morris, who might just take matters into their own hands and end the host before the demon can be passed on. People now have knowledge of the Demons M.O. Which is why, demon chose Riley. It was waiting for someone with such a wide reach that when the final deed is done, the demon would've been passed on to plethora of people and it would become difficult as to track that who is possessed.
one interesting thing you guys might notice or catch is if you stay towards the end credits and listen close you can hear what sounds like skye rileys screams and crying but reversed to sound like she's laughing almost like the smile demon is mocking her turning her cries of suffering and pain into laughter for its own sadistic amusement which further emphasis this entity likes the pain and suffering that it causes. to its victims but thats something i wanted to point out its one of the coolest things but also thee most terrifying thing parker finn snuck into the credits
@@wormeater888 oh theres actual videos on tik tok of the staff cleaning up the theatre while the end credits was playing with those sound effects in the background
yessss the crying made into music is insane. at the end of the reaction they said “you can’t give us happy music after that” and i’m like happy music??? that music was terrifying 😭😭
@@zhonorebrown calling it WILD would be a massive understatement! It’s not at all as jump scare heavy as this, but it’s just as if not more trippy and disorienting as this.
At first I mistakenly assumed Skye's car crash was the one where Joel gets run over. They were "coming home from a party" and it seemed like Joel's sequence takes place early in the morning, it fit. I thought that witnessing Joel's and Paul's deaths in the crash would be what gets Skye "possessed" by the demon, although both of those deaths were accidental. It later turns out those are two unrelated car crashes but it made me wonder if accidental deaths still count in order to pass the demon to someone else.
I actually thought of something similar, kind of like an alternative ending to the first one. Where the demon would pretty much cause a car accident and our main lead would survive due to having taken someone’s life with their vehicle. But it would get passed down to a bystander. Even though the rules haven’t been completely clarified I’d say yes, the demon just needs trauma through death. Hopefully we can get more lore in 3!
@@OfficialMediaKnights They also haven't mentioned yet what happens if the possessed person dies by something unrelated with no witnesses, like an accident or being killed by someone who feels no trauma for it. Does the demon go back to a previous victim? That's how it worked in It Follows.
i also thought that. i was confused it was a weird choice by the people who made it, unless they wanted us to think that but i don’t know why they would want us to think that
I mean not really...if you remember the first movie, by killing the dude in the cabin, joel already passed the demon to the next person. He was free, the accident was just misfortune, so he couldn't have passed the demon to the driver
I found the "unreal" part of this one more interesting and well worked that the first. It seemed that before it was just to break the mind of the acursed, so the entity could posses more easily, but we only notice this at the end. In this one, not only we already know the entity does this to break, but it does it so the girl can't see it's real purpose of making her take herself out in front of a large crowd, instead of only 1 person. Anyway this one is way better then first in my opinion. Thank you guys for reacting!
Absolutely loved that the film toys with the audience so much! We ended up falling for it despite being prepared to have an unreliable narrator. I’d love to see a “reality” cut where we see what is actually going on during these “episodes”
My hypothesis is the creature had to work harder for Skye as she had gone through an addiction recovery program so had some mental techniques that could have countered the creature's mental games.
Can you imagine all of this came from a short movie? The creativity and the mind behind it?! It makes me think about all the other short movies that could build a strong and fresh franchise!.
The trailer made me go, "Oh we know what's going to happen at the end," but then they got me so invested I FORGOT THAT. I feel like it's reasonable to assume that Morris was a real person at first, in which case, he essentially warned her that she'd lose the ability to make choices, and her running from him was the moment her chances ended.
Naomi was spectacular. No other words to describe her performance in this movie. Her acting was incredible. The fact that she sang the songs the fact that she nailed the choreography. All of it was above and beyond. I love how the movie ended just because all the future smile movies can now have completely different stories and they don’t actually need to, continue from any particular point just because every single person that witnessed this they can potentially have their own movie based on their fears what they see how they handle it whether or not they survive or whether or not they die in pass it to another this movie can take multiple directions in it’s sequels and I can’t wait to see them.
The fact that damn near everything in the movie being a hallucination was brilliant. All of her illegal actions like murdering her mom, putting everyone at gunpoint, etc all have to be fake because then she couldn't be on the stage to off herself in front of all the people.
after the hand goes in her mouth in her apartment, nothing was real. the sequence with the dancers in right before is my favorite scene in horror this year. gave me the creeps haha
yeah that was the monster basically going inside her to make her body do her everyday things while her mind is in the illusion that she’s in a hospital
Doesn't seem like much was real before that either, Gemma wasn't real and based on the mums and the assistants reactions during the show it doesn't seem like any of the previous run ins were real either
@@SGz_Eliminated reality was on and off thru the whole movie until the part where all the ppl were in her house and the demon went in her mouth. once she woke up in the “hospital” everything from there was hallucinations until she got on stage. before any of that, some were reality and some weren’t. her room being trashed was real just not by joshua. her pushing the old lady off the stage was real. the last real thing to happen was her going to see Morris at the restaurant.
You should watch Mulholland Drive (David Lynch). There's a freaky scene in that with creepy people getting closer and closer .... not the same but echoes .....
I just realised The Drew Barrymore show intro is probably the moment the "smile demon" was watching tv and decided to choose Skye as its next host/victim when it was in Lewis's body😢
Kyle Gallner is an awesome actor! I would recommend The Passenger, Dinner in America and Strange Darling, all three are awesome films with him in leading roles.
Thank you guys SO MUCH for watching this today! It was JUST released to streaming today and I was going to bring up that watching this as your very next reaction to the first Smile would be best to maintain a consistent bridge from the ending to the beginning of the sequel. Also in the theater during Lewis Fregoli's death, I remember my heart pounding UNCONTROLLABLY well throughout till after it ended in the theater, and I couldn't keep eating anything... The cameo with a REAL talk show host Drew Barrymore was also the cherry on top to make this fictional pop star seem ACTUALLY real. Parker Finn COMPLETELY wiped the floor with the original and I can't WAIT to see how he pulls of Smile 3 (hopefully) by 2026!
Yes yes and yesss, this movie was absolutely incredible! Finn absolutely killed it in this and it was amazing to see how much confidence he had with his direction - we're loving his style! Thank you so much for joining us for being so kind, we truly appreciate having you here!
Love how you guys are always so attentive to the tiny details!! When you saw Gaga on her phone contacts list, it was not just a coincidence. Naomi herself said in a recent interview she was heavily inspired by Lady Gaga when creating her character pop star Skye Riley! It was also shocking to see how Skye’s mom treated her, as if she were only a money-making machine. We all saw recently how Britney Spears’ family (specially her dad) had treated her the same way for years too. The layers of reality in this movie added even more to all the horror and discomfort. Loved this reaction ❤ can’t wait for the next dive in modern horror
In her mom’s defense (bc I felt the same way, I was shouting at the screen during the wellness center convo), that scene where she full on says she sees her daughter as a money-making machine ends up being a hallucination. She should’ve probably told Skye’s team the tour was canceled sooner, but I get that there is so much pressure and she was trying to encourage her daughter to get work through the turmoil she was suddenly experiencing again after seeing her overcome it through the last year.
...did anyone else notice that the Drew interview is on the TV at Lewis's house? THAT is how the monster knew to get Skye over there and planned in the end to get all those people infected in the end!!!
Can't wait for Smile 3 People have been theorizing that in the third Movie, the tables will turn against the Entity. Since it traumatized so many people, one of them will be someone who can't be traumatized because they are beyond broken with a twisted mind. The Entity will now be trapped in their mind. It's just a theory.
1:06:22 I’ve been waiting for you for such a long time the entity says. So basically the entity’s goal was to spread into all humanity all along. And it found a host that can help it with
One of the main criticisms of this movie that I've seen everywhere is that many people "knew" that Skye would end it on stage during the climax and, admittedly, that's what I was thinking when I first saw the trailer, as well. HOWEVER, I would 100% counter that "criticism" by saying that it would have been an enormous waste NOT to end the film that way. They ended it perfectly, in my opinion. If, for example, in Smile 3 the protagonist is someone like a Politician or a School Teacher, you KNOW how it's going to end... and I'm here for it! lol This movie was phenomenal and I truly hope they find a clever way to navigate the end of the Smile 2 and turn this into a franchise. Great video guys! With the exception of The Substance, this is my horror movie of the year.
I think the only other alternative would have been even more cruel because it would entail Riley having to enduring unending torture (since she can never really be sure of the reality of her actions) I think it was well done
The Entity must have seen her as not only an extravagant, all you can eat feast, but as an opportunity to sell its own product. It struck a gold mine through that drug dealer kid, then calculated everything and that makes it ALL the scarier.
Speaking of the whole Morris fake out: he comes to her right when we, as the viewer, are waiting for the solution to present itself. It seems like all hope is lost and then here’s Morris. So the audience has something to hope for and think about as an option. Of course you both know this already, but they do this even in movies where nothing can be done (like Final Destination) because following the familiar story beats generally had a lot of upsides. I have never seen anything as effective at subverting this expectation, though. That turnabout at the end exists in a class of its own. Thanks for your reaction!
I was watching transformers prime and got a notification saying “The Media Knights Smile 2” I was like “oh say less” love watching movies with yall, so relaxing and love the genuine reactions and love yall have for movies and affects
@@jordangreenwald1654better world building, better backstory, better cinematography, soundtracks better, better story, better jumpscares etc. They def used their budget well
I’m so excited you guys reacted to this! The movie released for rent/purchase today and I had to buy it to own because I love it so much! Awesome movie and Naomi killed it in this! Also, fun fact .. The photographer that was taking Skye’s professional photos for her photoshoot is the director for the movie Parker Finn 😅 it took a second watch for me to notice. I love when directors show up as a cameo in their own films.
Did you listen to the music in the closing credits? It slowly turns into just Sky Riley screaming in terror. It's sooo unsettling leaving a theater with surround sound screaming from the main character.
My personal theory is that once the Smile entity knew of Skye's potential to spread itself to the world, it had to use her. However, it figured out early on that her mental resilience would be a problem for it, and then realized that the only way to truly break Skye down and get her to relax her guard was to make her think she won. One she believed she won, her mental guards relaxed, which allowed it to get in.
NAHH YOU'RE WRONG. Skye is actually the weakest host. She's mentally weak because of her trauma of the car crash and the pressure of being a superstar. She got possessed in day 3 after meeting with Morris, and everything after that is not real. Killing her mom, driving to Morris, etc. The smile demon actually said, "I like wearing your skin," meaning the demon has been piloting her body while the real skye is trapped in illusion. The demon is smart enough to not immediately kill her because it knows that skye is the perfect host for it to spread to many people. So it waited until the world tour.
Naomi Scott deserves ALL the awards for her performance!!! Parker Finn went all in this time around. He was limited in the first one cause of the pandemic but this one...WHEW!!! It's so good!!! Also...the injured version of her with those demon eyes was the scariest image of the whole movie. I can NOT win that staring contest! >.
The demon got fully control of Skye after the fake dancers attacked her. Her fake mom said to Skye, "I've tested what's inside your mind." Morris meeting her at the bar was real before backup dancers attacked her.
It had her before a full day had passed. Gemma called then came and stayed.... And was there in the morning with the drinks. None of that was real. She was under it's control from almost the jump.
The comment section of your first one made me aware the second one was out, I saw it a couple days ago and loveeeed it, was so excited to see you guys react so quickly to this
morris was real. everything after the dancers showed up in her house was the hallucination. before that gemma and a few others were hallucinations mixed with the real world.
Why did her mom not answer when Gemma said "Hi Ms Riley?". Why did the people in the pub did not comment on Morris? EXACTLY. :) Plus: the meta is amazing. Her outfit tributes to Katy Perry ("Smile"), Kylie Minogue ("Can't Get You Out Of My Head") plus Gaga on the phone and wearing a shirt of... TALKING HEADS? So much love to detail. And I did not even mention Ray Nicholson, son of the master of SMILE (Joker, Shining). I love Naomi Scott's performance. I love the score, the cinematography, simply everything. How do you fight a demon that smiles at you, when everyone in your life smiles at you? Because most smiles are already fake, including yours. Just wow!
I agree that there were signs Gemma was not real, but idk about Morris. I think in the first meeting he was real and tried to help - he told her that eventually she will be controlled without realising ,hence the ending sequence. In the last part the entity used morris to torment her further, knowing he represeted her last hope- but conjuring a random person doesn't seem like the entity mo Why would the people in the bar react to him? He's a nobody, they were interested in Skye....paparazzi would've probably cared, but these were just normal people seeing a famous artist
@Higo981 I think her mind made that up as she doesn't seem to be quite an expert in medics (googling the DNA in vomit) and also that thing plays with your mind like a toy. Feeding you with silver linings and hope just to break you and to make you even more vulnerable. Also when she sits in front of Morris there is a painting next to her saying "You are fucked". Plus: An empty Pizza Hut as the location of choice was so random that it fits more her personality than reality. It was the same with Gemma being cool with everything.
@@laiiinicole Could be. I am not saying I know 100%. My feeling is that Morris doesn't exist. Random dude, finding her message at Lewis' phone? How? Password? Plus that it's a nice coincidence that he is also a medical assistant (actor most known for Dr. House, "Doc Morris" haha and they already added Nicholson's son on purpose and DREW is also a real cameo) with nearly enough skills to do a reanimation but not experienced enough to be sure if that idea works out? Maybe. Maybe not :)
@scharsigo the randomness is what makes it unusual. Also, during their meeting at the pub, her phone was also going wild with calls, but Morris didn't even look down, although it was clearly agitating Skye. I think that was the entity attempting to interrupt the meeting before she got any useful information He might have been able to unlock lewis' phone with fingerprints since the face got, you know
I always love your guys' reactions because you actually get so invested and aren't flippant about what's happening in the movie, you know what I mean? Seems like you both really care! Also, Ari's jumpscare reaction is the absolute best 😆 Appreciate you both!
Honestly one of the best new horror franchises , one of the best horror sequels in a long time and one of the best openings to a sequel ever. I hate it though, really wanted Joel to make it and he was so close.
I've been thinking about this today. It's a really formidable creature. You could always assume you'd privately and discreetly take yourself out to stop the creature, but it owns your mind. It can trap you in a loop of thinking you've taken the actions to stop it, seemingly, but all the while, you've failed and it's running out the timer till it gets you. I'm gonna check the film theory video on this, see what they say.
Loved how fast you got this out there! Seeing this in Dolby Atmos was one of the most intense and fun experiences I ever had in a theater. Everyone had that anxious release of laughter after every one of those jump scares. Losing sight of reality and having no one in your life are two of the scariest things to me in life so this film definitely hit a nerve. Skye Riley actually working on and looking for help to better herself but the outcome keeps getting worse only makes it more sad and terrifying. Loved all the creative filmmaking risks they took (its hard to not want see Finn push harder if they make Smile 3), loved the use of extra production budget, and Naomi Scott gave one of the greatest performances in horror cinema history. Now when can I see Skye Riley on tour please?
@@batmanvsjoker7725 In some scenes i felt a bit of Jack vibes. When he stands up, smiles and walks towards the stage at the conference he reminded me a bit of Jack in the Shining before Wendy hits him with the bat
I loved the marketing around this movie, she even has an album on Spotify under Skye Riley. It blew my mind that this time we don't even know how much of the movie did happen and what was the entity's game. My guess is everything is a lie from the moment she sees Lewis on the mirror and my only clue is the butterfly outfit that she didn't want to use and that's what she used in the concert.
The "group attack choreo" in her house was SOOO GOOD!!!! It really worked well to create a general feeling of discomfort and hopelessness for escape. I think my favourite part of this reaction was the jump scares that really got Ari GOOD. Lmao 😂
My cousin and I saw this in theatres and honestly it was probably one of my most intense movie going experiences. Something about the smile movies scares me where other horror movies don’t.
1:02:04 180 degree camera turns means change in power. In Black Panther 2018, when Kill monger defeats T'challa and takes throne. The 180 degree camera turn was used to show change in power from T'challa to Killmonger. Here it was used as misdirection, to make people (cinephiles mostly) think that now Naomi is in power not the entity
It might be weird for me to say this, but I really like the direction that Parker Finn did. Like this is actually the same scenario as the first one, but they mirrored the presentation of the story, and amps it all up. Love how movie take it direction more as character driven, rather than investigative journey like the first one, really make it more impact full. I also love that they expand the lore, with the entity isn't just anchor to the concept of trauma like everyone thinks, but it basically a parasite that lurks in your brains playing with your bad memories and experiences. And damn... the first movie was horrifying, but this sequel was disturbing. Can't stop thinking with how the entity didn't just kill her, it also taunting her by forcing her to wear one wardrobe that she hate the most at the time of her death. To be fair the marketing also amazing. They make Skye feel really real with it, releasing an EP, billboards, and such. I legit see her as a real life artist, to then remembered that it was Naomi Scott after the credit end. P. S : if you look hard enough, you'll see Morris was smiling a few seconds before he left the freezer... 🙂
Trivia Time!!! Naomi Scott not only did the choreography and the concert, she also wrote and arranged the music that Sky would sing. She is a triple threat, and I am looking forward to whatever else she does next. This gives me "Truth or Dare" vibes, much like the first movie. The only difference is that these movies are actually good. I would love for you two to watch "It Follows" as well.
When the scene of the smiling creepy little girl came up, someone in the theater loudly said "HIDE NEMO, DARLA IS BACK!" and the theater erupted in laughter 😂
Everything was fake after Meeting with Morris and the backup dancers sticking their hands down Skye's throat. In the first film, it is stated that each victim lasts four days to a week. And Morris tells Skye she's running out of time since she's on her third day. The demon prob realized Morris could defeat it, so it ensured Skye was hallucinating from onwards until her performance on stage.
Nah, not even Morris was real. It starts with the partial hallucination with Gemma at her house. Then sometime after she has that argument with her mother about her scar and the see through dress for the performance, that's when everything you see then is total hallucination. Where we see her go and meet this Morris because Gemma, who just came back into her life, is no longer answering her texts, which led her to finally text this Morris person back and meet up, she's actually getting prepped for the performance IRL. But we don't know that. Everything we see we just accept, at least partially. Never do we suspect that literally everything is an hallucination being conjured by this creature so that it can lead her to that conclusion on the stage. Over half of this film never truly takes place, which is so damn wild to realize after you re-watch it. 😂😭💀
@@BJMurphy Hmmm. I actually see it differently. While we know Gemma was a hallucination the entire time since the demon already knew who she was in order to use her image, the demon DIDN'T know Morris. I think Morris was very real and that he was truly onto something, which is why the demon was making Sky's phone go bonkers to "break" her away from the moment. Notice how Morris isn't even fazed by her phone. Doesn't look at it or comment on it. If someone's phone was actually ringing IRL, any one of would be like, "Aren't you gonna get that?" But Morris doesn't acknowledge it at all. But let's say that even if Morris WASN'T ever real, then that would mean the demon is pretty much using some random dude to give her a theory and a plan on how to kill it, which is a rather dumb and unnecessary risk from the demon's perspective, especially when he was already controlling Sky just fine without Morris's unexpected interference. Why bother? So after the demon, thru Sky, became aware of Morris as a person and Morris's capability of seriously threatening the demon's presence, THAT'S when he fed her hallucinations of him thereafter (since he now has his image) so that she would never truly connect with him again. Certainly is fun to theorize, though, that's for sure lol.
@@BJMurphybut he was real tho or at least the texts from him were. She got a text from him before she got the call from Gemma, asking her if she was at Lewis place.
@@BJMurphy The first meeting with Morris must have taken place, otherwise it doesn't make sense for the entity to reveal info about itself. Yes it's been known for putting victims in illusions to give them false hope, but it already had that with the fake Gemma.
This is my first time watching this video with these two and i think ive fallen in love with their natural reactions and great commentary! Will follow for future movies
I'm wondering how the writer/director will handle that without making it too crazy and messy. I assume, when he made Smile 2 and decided how it would end, he has a plan for the 3rd one.
Eyy, perfect timing, just watched this last night 👏 Crazy movie. Someone else mentioned The Substance, can’t recommend that one enough as well. THATS a crazy movie 😳 lol
Oh, my God! I've been waiting. This one has a feeling of helplessness that the first one didn't have. I think it's because the protagonist in the first one has someone who believes her while Skye is pretty much alone throughout of all of it. Also, not knowing what's real or not is much more noticeable in this one! Ugh, such a great horror film. This year has been great for horror
Just in case anyone missed it, the reveal at the end proved that all of her hallucinations were hallucinations themselves. She was technically unconscious and under its control from the moment she was infected to the concert.
So my theory is the reason it said it had waited for her for so long is it meant it had a waited for a person with her social status that had an audiance so that could gradually infect the world. Something about that smile at the end seemed that it was the biggest smile we have seen yet. Another theory is i think each time it kills someone its true form gets bigger and bigger. Also im very sure Morris is real but the only scene that he was actually there for was the bar scene . Everything from when she saw her mother stab herself was a hallucination until she came out of the trance on stage. To me it seemed like the entity messed with Skye way more than Rose from the get go because it knew that if it could posses her then this would be its biggest score yet by traumatising thousands. like disguising itself as gemma right from the beggining and trying to stay close to her, constantly changing the time of day or whats going on and by making hallucinations within deeper hallucinations. Its clear to me this thing was trying to stress her out and make her feel so alone and uncomfortable and crazy so much more this time. Loosing was not an option for the entity.
I know many people love the opening for its harshness, but I would have loved for Joel to survive and perhaps take the role of Morris. The character raised some questions for me, like, how did he research the whole smile-chain and how it works? And why would he be so passionate about helping a complete stranger and risk his own life in the process? With Joel, we already knew how he got his knowledge and how he could locate Skye as a police officer. It would also make sense that he wants to help her beat the curse at all costs would as it took Rose from him, ruined his life and he feels guilty for being part of the way she got it, but is looking for another way as his attempt failed so horribly.
for morris, my guess is he feels guilty for not helping his brother, and is trying to help future victims to overcome that guilt. skye says to him later in the film (albeit this part isn't reality) "i know you're only doing this because of your brother." it could also be some form of revenge for him.
I'm with you on this, definitely one of the best performances of the year so far. It's a shame as she will get no recognition for it at all awards wise.
Not seen the 2nd one so really honored to watch it with u 2, I actually fell out with a male friend who is against watching movies this way but end of the day his loss not mine I've gained a community who as the same interests as me and that's wot makes me happy knowing I have people like u 2 and the people in the comments who enjoy watching this stuff like me I say that's a bonus 💜 xx
I really hope the stick the landing on Smile 3 And *if* they end it there the smile trilogy *could* be one of the best horror franchise of the 21st century
@@joblade yes, the entity is being threatened by Morris. He is persistent enough to follow the suicide chain to the next person. So the entity had Skye kill herself in front of the crowd, it can jump to a random person and it'll take some time for Morris to track it down again.
It's the fact there was no cue or music or anything lol. It just came out of nowhere. That scene had me leaning out of my seat to see what it was and then he pops up. Holy cow that was scary
You watched it 5 times? I only watched it once and I still haven't recovered. I paused the movie twice to catch my breath and ask myself why I was subjecting myself to such trauma. LOL But I just had to see how it was going to end. It's good I didn't see it in the theater, not sure i could have finished it in one sitting
@enadegheeghaghe6369 After I saw it the first time I went and saw another movie right after and I couldn't focus on it because I couldn't stop thinking about was Smile 2. I love this type Cosmic/Lovecraftian style horror movies. You know, the kind that mess with your head.
Maybe Smile 3 could be a newscaster, or a politician getting infected from their son, or daughter who was at the Skye concert. Then it could be broadcast across the country.
So glad you guys covered this one!!! in my opinion smile and smile 2 are the scariest and most unsettling movies I’ve ever watched!! 😅 just pure nightmare fuel lol
Another great reaction! "Smile 2" is even scarier than the first! From the opening shot, it was relentless, to say the least! This could become the next horror franchise, like "Final Destination," "Paranormal Activity" or "The Conjuring."😁 Suggestions: "Get Out," "Hereditary," "Midsommar," "The Substance," "The Menu," "Krampus," "Mandy," "Pig," "Silent Night, Violent Night," "Happy Death Day," "Happy Death Day 2," "Blink Twice," "Speak No Evil," "Pearl," "X," "MaXXXine," "I Saw the TV Glow," "Black Phone," "The Blackening ,""Thanksgiving," "Cabin Fever," "The Last Voyage of the Demeter," "Bodies, Bodies, Bodies," "They/Them," "Ready Or Not" & "Cocaine Bear." 🐻❄️
Omg yes to all those suggestions especially the movie Blink Twice that movie was awesome the media knights would love the cinematography and action in that one
gemma saying hi to skyes mother and no reaction back from her mom, the water bottles refilling themselves and being in the next shot meaning she never drank it holy shit this movie

True. But let me cheer my homie Skye cuz she was fucked up mentally even before the curse and she was ready to off herself to stop spreading it
Right he had less trauma for the demon to use than Rose.
Tbf Joel's in a better headspace prior to the curse than Skye.
ikr i was rooting for him the entire opening scene but we all saw the trailer so we know he's not the main character :(
Yeah Skye sucked, she got possesed after 2 days because her mind was so weak after drug use. Pretty much her meeting with Morris was the last real thing she did before succumbing into illusion. She should had went with him right away.
Round of applause to Naomi! From Disney Channel, to Power Ranger, to Charlie’s Angels, to Disney Princess, NOW SHES A SCREAM QUEEN!

3- Wait she's real, she was actually there with maccias
4- Oh shit she killed her mom
5- Oh no Gemma isn't even in the car IT WAS ALL FAKE THEY HAVEN'T EVEN MET IN A YEAR
6- Wait so every single thing after waking up at the clinic has been fake
7- Smile 3: Pandemic

This gave us a good chuckle haha so true 😂
so basically, they already left the ending open for SMILE 3 with all those people infected

There's 5 but whatever.
I just realized the smile monster is a good description of mental health. The fear, anxiety, ptsd, depression, seeing things. I had a car accident 14 years ago and my ptsd and anxiety still get me today then I got out of narcissistic abuse just back in 2023. Can’t believe I never noticed that before but seeing it from someone in he spotlight with history of trauma it makes sense
no
@@Ahahabih416 ?
Also both Rose and Skye lose in the two films because they push away those that can help them. Rose chose to run off to her childhood home to face the demon alone. Skye didn't take Morris' or anyone's help until the very last minute when it was already too late -- Morris even stated earlier that she's on her third day and people normally don't make it further.
It's kinda a whole thing about how you cannot face mental health by yourself.
2023 is so recent, glad you got the fuck out
I kinda believe the Trauma Demon is actually a representation of “The Fregoli” delusion is a mental disease when someone believes that multiple people are actually the same person in disguise, which, as shown in the first film, is the Smile Entity and that’s how Laura's description of him "wearing people's faces like masks.", and another fact is that Skye's friend who dies by suicide is named as Lewis Fregoli (a reference of the disease)
Great attention to detail! Storytelling at its finest, even with the wardrobe 😃
@@OfficialMediaKnights When will you watch DaCosta's Candyman? And oh yeah, i forgot to tell that i also picked up the clothes detail on Dead Meat, sorry 😅😅
Baggy and comfy clothes has something to do with mental thing hhahaha in the real world? I think that makes sense hahahahah
I think they took some elements from “Truth or Dare” and kind of rebooted the concept. It’s much better if that’s the case so congratulations to them!
Yeah. Even Saw's gore has nothing on The Terrifier movies.
Haha we got Terrifier lined up very soon, so stay tuned y'all! ❤️

Even this movie has got nothing on the Terrifier franchise. I love horror movies and even I think it’s too much. 😂
@@kratosGOWthe shower scene put leather face to shame 😂😂
It was waiting for someone with such a wide reach that when the final deed is done, the demon would've been passed on to plethora of people and it would become difficult as to track that who is possessed.
did you guys miss the fact that when joel dies in the crash, his blood in the street forms a smile?😅
Yes
one interesting thing you guys might notice or catch is if you stay towards the end credits and listen close you can hear what sounds like skye rileys screams and crying but reversed to sound like she's laughing almost like the smile demon is mocking her turning her cries of suffering and pain into laughter for its own sadistic amusement which further emphasis this entity likes the pain and suffering that it causes. to its victims but thats something i wanted to point out its one of the coolest things but also thee most terrifying thing parker finn snuck into the credits

Also, fantastic interview. 🔥
That's how it worked in It Follows.
i also thought that. i was confused it was a weird choice by the people who made it, unless they wanted us to think that but i don’t know why they would want us to think that
I was thinking that as well upon first watch
My hypothesis is the creature had to work harder for Skye as she had gone through an addiction recovery program so had some mental techniques that could have countered the creature's mental games.
can't wait to see skye riley perform the first showing of her comeback tour! :)))
Lolll we'd pay big money for that comeback 😄😄😄
I'm sure that would bring a smile to many faces.

Fun fact: The camera man taking the photo of Skye Riley (20:54) is the director of the film, Parker Finn.
You needed to see this in a Dolby theater the surround sound added 100x to the jump scenes.
after the hand goes in her mouth in her apartment, nothing was real. the sequence with the dancers in right before is my favorite scene in horror this year. gave me the creeps haha
yeah that was the monster basically going inside her to make her body do her everyday things while her mind is in the illusion that she’s in a hospital
@@SGz_Eliminated Skye was far more severely traumatized than Rose so the entity was able to take control earlier and more often.

@Wraiven22 that actually makes a lot of sense! Loved the insight
I didn't even notice the Gaga contact before 😅
I thought she was very similar to gaga, she played the role brilliantly
Not everything has to be related to fadga be serious
...did anyone else notice that the Drew interview is on the TV at Lewis's house? THAT is how the monster knew to get Skye over there and planned in the end to get all those people infected in the end!!!
Can't wait for Smile 3
People have been theorizing that in the third Movie, the tables will turn against the Entity. Since it traumatized so many people, one of them will be someone who can't be traumatized because they are beyond broken with a twisted mind. The Entity will now be trapped in their mind. It's just a theory.
Its a gem and a rarity where the sequel out does the first movie
The entity said "I've been waiting for you" - it was probably what it wanted all along. Now it's gonna spread way more.
1:06:22 I’ve been waiting for you for such a long time the entity says. So basically the entity’s goal was to spread into all humanity all along. And it found a host that can help it with
This entity is like, "You think you figure it out, but you're not."
I saw the trailer before watching the movie and honestly kind of forgot what it was leading to. I was so invested!
The Entity must have seen her as not only an extravagant, all you can eat feast, but as an opportunity to sell its own product.
It struck a gold mine through that drug dealer kid, then calculated everything and that makes it ALL the scarier.
My heart rate spiked when I saw this thumbnail OMG OMG. So excited to watch you guys react to this 😭😭😭
Hahaha oh dear, well you'll definitely get some laughs from our jumpscares!! Hope you enjoy!!

Also, fun fact .. The photographer that was taking Skye’s professional photos for her photoshoot is the director for the movie Parker Finn 😅 it took a second watch for me to notice. I love when directors show up as a cameo in their own films.
I don’t normally buy movies and I bought this one today
Did you listen to the music in the closing credits? It slowly turns into just Sky Riley screaming in terror. It's sooo unsettling leaving a theater with surround sound screaming from the main character.
For real. I was just slowly walking down the steps after the credits and then when I heard that transition, I walked so fast outside 🤣
I like that theory
I can NOT win that staring contest! >.
Joel's acting in the beguinning was very very good
The demon got fully control of Skye after the fake dancers attacked her.
The comment section of your first one made me aware the second one was out, I saw it a couple days ago and loveeeed it, was so excited to see you guys react so quickly to this
1:08:24 “Morris has to be real” 😭 fr finding out that Morris was fake was like finding out Santa isn’t real
morris was real. everything after the dancers showed up in her house was the hallucination. before that gemma and a few others were hallucinations mixed with the real world.
In the last part the entity used morris to torment her further, knowing he represeted her last hope- but conjuring a random person doesn't seem like the entity mo
Why would the people in the bar react to him?
@@scharsigothe end was a hallucination but the first time they met was real why would the demon make up a random person that she doesn’t even know?
I think that was the entity attempting to interrupt the meeting before she got any useful information
He might have been able to unlock lewis' phone with fingerprints since the face got, you know

Honestly one of the best new horror franchises , one of the best horror sequels in a long time and one of the best openings to a sequel ever. I hate it though, really wanted Joel to make it and he was so close.
Naomi Scott’s performance was phenomenal. Scream Queen of the year IMO.
Omg yes yes and YES! She was incredible in this!!
Right there's absolutely no winning if you're full of trauma which Joel wasn't but rose and skye already were.
Yes seeing it in theatre was the best choice. The sound design was awesome
Fun fact the dead husband is played by Jack Nicholsons son (you can see the resemblance when he smiles)
I HAD A FEELING!
Yesss, we mentioned how similar their SMILESs are in the reaction (hehe)
It’s the Nichol-SON
It’s insane! They played with the audience so much with this one!
This was one of the greatest acting performances in history and I'm not even kidding. In HISTORY.
Naomi Scott is the best🤍
Hope you guys heard the end credits sound, the smile demon mocks and remixes her cries into laughter and a sound, it sounded insane in the theaters
I literally just finished watching your reaction to Prey - it's amazing to see how far you've progressed! Keep up the great work!
Aw man! One of our first! Thank you, that means a lot to us ❤️

180 degree camera turns means change in power.
I still believe that Morris is real at nightclub. But the fake morris appearance in the end and all illusions/hallucinations
Smile 3 is just going to be pure chaos then 😅
I'm wondering how the writer/director will handle that without making it too crazy and messy. I assume, when he made Smile 2 and decided how it would end, he has a plan for the 3rd one.
Smile 1 is way better than smile 2
@@lizzardstuff6436 I don't think so.
Not sure if ya’ll noticed the background during the Drew interview. It’s Lewis’s apartment… that’s when the demon chose her 🥲
Eyy, perfect timing, just watched this last night 👏 Crazy movie.
Someone else mentioned The Substance, can’t recommend that one enough as well. THATS a crazy movie 😳 lol
Omgggg yes! I didn't know it was out on streaming yet! This movie had my wife and I absolutely *shook*
7:30 the timing hahaha
Had me dying 🤣
U beat me, too it. Lol I literally was just gonna comment that... nice 👍
Good timing since I just finished your smile reaction😁
Haha awesome, hope you enjoy this one!
Amazing reaction as always. Good movie too. And I really love Denise's thoughts and analysis, very in depth. Keep being awesome you two
Can't believe that guy got a final destination truck 2 the face!?!?!?
Uhh yeah…that was wild 😰
43:43 Pretty sure we just witnessed Ari have a seizure😂😂😂
AHAHAHAHAHAHAHH this comment wins
Internet: How many times did you watch Ari have a seizure?
Me: Yes.
Unless Morris wasn't real but rather the entity playing with her mind as well. Then those questions are irrelevant.
for morris, my guess is he feels guilty for not helping his brother, and is trying to help future victims to overcome that guilt. skye says to him later in the film (albeit this part isn't reality) "i know you're only doing this because of your brother." it could also be some form of revenge for him.
Kyle Gallner was amazing, regardless of his character lasting 5 minutes. The entire opening scene was phenomenal. He deserves an award, hands down 👌
I'm with you on this, definitely one of the best performances of the year so far.
This was insane! If they make Smile 3, will that be like an apocalyptic movie due to how it's now spreading???!
Awesome reaction as always!
I really hope the stick the landing on Smile 3
And *if* they end it there the smile trilogy *could* be one of the best horror franchise of the 21st century
Nah it can only infect 1 person at a time. Only difference is in front of a huge audience it gives the demon a bigger pool of people to select from .
Birdbox
I don't think everyone caught it because why wouldn't the demon try that earlier? It might target a specific person in the crowd imo.
@@joblade yes, the entity is being threatened by Morris. He is persistent enough to follow the suicide chain to the next person. So the entity had Skye kill herself in front of the crowd, it can jump to a random person and it'll take some time for Morris to track it down again.
That phone jump scare got me when I watched the movie all I could say was tell the screen fuck you 😂😂
Ahahah oh definitely it was a f**k you moment for sure 😂😂😂
It's the fact there was no cue or music or anything lol. It just came out of nowhere. That scene had me leaning out of my seat to see what it was and then he pops up. Holy cow that was scary
This is my favorite movie of year out of the 40 theatrical releases I've seen this year. I've seen it 5 times so far. Naomi Scott was phenomenal.
That is some massive praise! So glad to hear you enjoyed it 😃
You watched it 5 times? I only watched it once and I still haven't recovered. I paused the movie twice to catch my breath and ask myself why I was subjecting myself to such trauma. LOL
But I just had to see how it was going to end.
You seem to be a legend if you watched smile 2 and that too 5 times 😂 I'm still processing my first time.
That opening scene was IN-SANE!!!
Wow SMILE 1 and 2 are great!! The way i’m so invested with this franchise now. Can’t wait to see what Parker Finn has in store for SMILE 3.
Omg right?! We NEED a Smile 3, like, now!!
Denise just be yelling Heyyy Kool-aid!! 😂
Another great reaction! "Smile 2" is even scarier than the first! From the opening shot, it was relentless, to say the least! This could become the next horror franchise, like "Final Destination," "Paranormal Activity" or "The Conjuring."😁
Suggestions: "Get Out," "Hereditary," "Midsommar," "The Substance," "The Menu," "Krampus," "Mandy," "Pig," "Silent Night, Violent Night," "Happy Death Day," "Happy Death Day 2," "Blink Twice," "Speak No Evil," "Pearl," "X," "MaXXXine," "I Saw the TV Glow," "Black Phone," "The Blackening ,""Thanksgiving," "Cabin Fever," "The Last Voyage of the Demeter," "Bodies, Bodies, Bodies," "They/Them," "Ready Or Not" & "Cocaine Bear." 🐻❄️
Omg yes to all those suggestions especially the movie Blink Twice that movie was awesome the media knights would love the cinematography and action in that one
loving all the horror movies... I'm a huge horror fan and there really aren't that many reactors for it, so I appreciate y'all
Wow you guys reaction to smile 2 came so fast after watching the first one😮😱😃 Your reaction was very intense and amazing !!
Thank you Kenny! Had a blast watching both of these 😃
@@OfficialMediaKnights You guys are always welcome and I see me too😃😃
And there's a third movie in future Love to see your reaction !!
gemma saying hi to skyes mother and no reaction back from her mom, the water bottles refilling themselves and being in the next shot meaning she never drank it holy shit this movie
