I made this on my Griddle Hack last night. It was just as amazing as it looked on the video. I just had an 1 1/2" T-Bone handy, but it came out perfectly. The baked potatoes were also fantastic. Wife got a little excited when the half pint of Jack was lit, but she loved the steak. Ask that I make it again next week!
I don't drink whiskey or bourbon, but I have an open bottle of something that was gifted to me and I'm going to do this! I wanted a steak so badly after watching this!

Thank you for the compliment. Always appreciated. The onions really shine on this one. They just soak up all the flavor so nicely. Be safe and thanks again-J

I just bought my first griddle after watching a bunch of your videos, I got the 22 inch adventure grill with stand. Should be plenty big enough since it's just me and my daughter.
Ty Kountry Tiger. Even tho the steak doesn't pick up a lot of the whiskey flavor, the onions more than make up for it. We have incorporated whiskey flavored onions into a lot of cooks since We tried this. Good stuff. Thanks again-J
Excellent cooking and video there guys! It only took two of your videos and I'm now a sub! The first video of yours that I watched was the pros vs. cons and then this video! Wow! I've not yet purchased a griddle, but now can't wait. I've decided on the Blackstone pro with the rear grease management. I absolutely cannot wait to try what I've just seen! Thank you guys, and I'll be watching!
That looks delicious!!!!!!!! Does anybody know if they make a lid/hood for the black stone 36” with rear grease trap??? I know they make the black stone with them but can I buy one from somewhere and bolt it to mine?
I have never seen a bolt on lid. There are a lids on amazon though,,, they just sit on it for storage, not for cooking under. I believe blackstone has a new unit that has an air fryer and a cover you cook under.
Becacause of this video I HAD to subscribe. That steak looks AWESOME! HOWEVER, I’m from Kentucky and you’re killin me with that Tennessee whiskey… lol. Keep rockin boys!
Fighting words I know. That being said I would not pass up a shot of Makers Mark if you gave me one. Lol. Hopefully we don't let you down with our other cooks. Cheers-J
Great cook guys! Kuddos on the alcohol burn. Keep the flavor, loose the alcohol. Too many people don't understand how bad it tastes if you don't, until it's too late. Really been enjoying your channel! Chris, with your accent I keep expecting to hear you say how "wicked good" it tastes :D Keep up the great work!
I'm not really a big fan of JD (I still have the same bottle in my bar, literally for about the last 25-30 years now). I prefer an aged, single malt Scotch. But for this application I'm guessing that's not really here or there. You really got me interested in trying this. I must say though, I 'm still having a hard time grasping exactly what the JD brings to the "party" and have you ever tried doing this with other bourbon's/whiskey's etc. or is there something specific about the JD that is a must to bring out certain flavors. Great presentation, the steak 'n potatoes looked delicious and mouth watering.
Thank you for commenting troy. I used JD because I like it and had it that night . In the past I've used bottom shelf Evan Williams and it was just as good. Chris is a higher end Johnny walker guy, but I couldn't stomach the idea of using that good of a bourbon to cook. This may be the perfect meal to start unloading your JD . Once the alcohol is burned off it leaves you with a nice sweet sauce of sorts. Let us know if you try something different and how it comes out. Thanks again-J

My mouth watered all the way thru. One question, when you flipped I noticed you placed on a clean spot, rather than then the same place. Is there a reason?
Thank you for commenting. I usually flip onto a clean spot with the assumption it will have a little more heat built up to help with searing. In reality, it probably doesnt really matter . May just be a couple degrees warmer. Thanks again - J
HI Jim, We actually do potaotes a bunch of different ways and had success. If you cut them small enough you can go from raw to the griddle, They take a pretty long time to cook this way so it's slow and low while keeping an eye on em. Jeff often times will microwave the full potatoe for a few min to get the inside started cooking, then slice it in half and finish it on the griddle. Personally I like to bake my potatoes the night before, then chunk them up the next morning and crispt them up on the griddle. Absolutely. I'd say it's even easier than trying to cook it med rare/rare like we like it. You have to have your griddle blazing hot to get a nice crust and internal temp under 133° . With this, I keep an eye on the grill and the food. Do you know what the temp of the grill was when you seared there steaks and when lit the Jack?
Thank you for commenting Larry and congratulations on your camp chef. To sear the steaks we had that half of the griddle on high and on the other side we had it on low so that it wouldn't burn the butter. If you have it cranked up when you throw down the jack it will result in a bigger flame that goes out quicker. Same end result tho, delicious onions to smother your steak with. Let us know of you try it out and what you think. Thanks again
