Thanks for the visit. Love the crane on the wall behind you. My poor husband has one of those on his to make list for me. I want I big one to display an antique quilt over our bed. I love the creativity you have with doing you in your projects. They turn out beautiful no matter what fabric you use. Love the color of your “gray”! Your hair appears to grow quickly so that’s nice.
I applaud your going gray. I plan to do that as well, probably when I retire or when I hit a big birthday. To celebrate a milestone! I always enjoy your flosstube. Thank you for sharing your beautiful projects!
Love watching you Shanda and seeing your beautiful quilts and c/s. Your hair is changing and will look beautiful too. I love autumn too, the trees are magical this time of year. Take care.
Happy Fall, Shanda…I loved everything you shared…beautiful patterns and beautiful stitching…love your silver…love your home…wishing you the best and happy stitching ❤
Hi Shanda love all your stitching projects and finishes, really like your oldest WIP,it reminds me of my stitching as a child, look forward to seeing it finished, your hair is beautiful hang in there! Thankyou for sharing 👍🇳🇿🪡
You made great progress on your house at the retreat. I love that you gave yourself marching orders. I look forward to seeing your FFO next month. Have a wonderful weekend & stitch on 🤘
Hi Chanda, I’m a fellow Idahoan and just getting back into cross stitch after years away. I am a quilter, knitter, crocheted, hand embroiderer and general crafter as well. I want to make all the things. 😊 I am excited to see what you are working on. Thanks for the inspiration. I’m glad I ran onto your channel today. Happy stitching!
Happy Fall, Shanda! Im so happy I got to meet you in Missoula. Such an inspiring weekend. Gosh, it was fun! I love that you’re letting your natural sparkle shine through. It’ll be just beautiful. Thanks for sharing through Flosstube. Bless you.
Blessings to you, Sue, and thank you for all your hard work before and during the retreat - I think everyone had a great time! You inspired me with Miss Baxters House- a start for me in 2023. Yours was beautiful, and a finish no less! Such a pleasure to meet you!🪡❌🪡
First of all, your hair is looking beautiful. Then, you took me right back to some wonderful memories! I had the good luck to visit Country Threads, in Gardner, on a long road trip. What a fun time I had there... And then you bring up Holly Hobbie which also has memories of good times with my daughter. I still have many Country Threads fabrics and patterns, and also some Holly Hobbie patterns. Think I will look for them today. Thanks for mentioning their names! Have a beautiful day! HAPPY FALL!
Good for you for letting your hair go back to the natural color. I started my return to natural Sept 2021. I’m heavy silver around the face and the normal color around back
A nice selection of stitching you have going. Their all looking good. Look forward to seeing more progress on them. Your hair is looking good too. I thought of you when I was making these cute little bouquet posies from the fall issue of Primative Quilts Project magazine pg. 15. I walked around my acres and my gardens and cut dried flower heads and hydrengas and then made them into those cute bouquets wrapped in homespun fabric tied with twine or silk ribbon. I displayed them in my hutch by pulling out a little drawer and sticking it in there on each side. My husband loved them when he walked by and said, wow that looks really nice what you made. Happy fall. Bonnie from NJ
Love your hair, your home, and all your beautiful projects! Your flosstubes are always so peaceful and soothing. Looking forward to the next one! 🧵🪡 🍁🍃🍁
Shanda, first I so enjoy your beautiful new photos beginning your floss tubes! I’ve been growing my hair out also. More and more gray coming. Welcome aboard🤗. Side note: since moving to Utah, the church I’ve joined has a 55+ group called Amazing Grays - love it! I also enjoy Susan Branch. I was excited to find 2 of her older (1986 & 1988) cookbooks at a thrift store. Snatched those up! I enjoy seeing all your beautiful projects. Take care.
Susan Branch lovers - unite!!! My favorite book of hers? A Fine Romance. It is a journal of her travels with her husband in the United Kingdom. Very delightful read! Thank you for the comment!
Yeah for grey! Welcome to the club/ I went grey about 6 years ago- once the line gets past your eyes you don’t see it any more!! You get very light highlights to help lessen the harsh contrast, but who cares! It’s an adventure! My boys are up in challis hunting this week!
Hooray for Gray indeed! I am embracing the change and will be glad when it gets a little bit more grown out. Challis? Very beautiful spot to go hunting and I hope they get something. Happy stitching and maybe I’ll see you in November at Maggies♥️ Thanks for the upbeat encouragement!
I finished Cinnamon Stars recently, and it was such a fun stitch! The variegation in that center part of the house (Sage, if I remember the color name correctly) is just gorgeous. I'm drawn to pieces with houses in them, but I struggle with stitching big houses. Thank you for the inspiration.. I have a few of the fall charts you showed, and I think I'll have to indulge in a new start this weekend.. it's fall break, so I don't have any deadlines for my classes this weekend!
I have never dyed my hair, so gray is coming naturally. Most I know are letting their's go to natural now also, and it looks beautiful on you. Your projects are lovely and I just adore your appreciation of nature. Seeing you admire the leaves falling....I have that same love. Have lived in the country since I was 8 yrs old and spent most of my summer days at Grammie and Grampa's farm, so grew up loving it myself. It was most fun when I had sleepovers and Grammie would let me sleep on their 3 season porch so I could hear the bugs chirping and frogs peeping during the nights. You made me chuckle showing your bobbinated DMC because that is how mine is that I use to this day lol. I even bought more bobbins for the newer colors they have come out with as I need them. Maybe the leaves will all be gone by your next floss tube. They are falling fast here.
Nature is in my blood! Growing up on a sheep branch in the mountains, I spent so much time outdoors. I love the description of your three season porch that your grandparents had. That takes me back to some friends that also had one of those beautiful architectural structures on the front of their house, and I loved sitting out there year-round. Happy stitching to you and enjoy your fall weather!
Good to see you again. Also good to seem you finishing and showing some older projects. Happy to know that I am not the only one with older WIP’s. Keeping it real… Speaking of keeping it real…go “gray”cefully into your gray hair. No apologies no excuses, just embrace the gift you have been given of having a long enough life to be having gray hair. Many never get that chance. I have found in my own life, if I focus on the positive things I feel so much better about it. That old adage says it all…if you cant change a situation, try changing the way you think about it. Great chat…looking forward to November.
Beautiful comment, and I thank you for it! Very wise words indeed. I love finishing my old projects - I can’t start everything but I love finishing what I have. I love the adage “use it up, wear it out, fix it, or do without!” Happy stitching!
Beautiful stitching Shanda! So nice to stitch & watch your video this evening. Fall leaves are falling here also. We had the first frost so snow will be here shortly. Have a great week. 🍁🌰🍂
Your hair is beautiful, I'm a red head so mine is white, can't wait ti have it all one color. Enjoyed your floss tube, loved your stitching. Thanks for sharing.☺️
I think your hair looks beautiful!! The lighter color really makes your eyes shine. So pretty. I love all your finished projects as well as your wips. It’s a good feeling to pull out older projects and continue working on them. Have a wonderful rest of the month.
You are my most favorite flosstube to watch! You do need to finish Ever Grateful, and soon! I love stitching Thanksgiving related items. My favorite holiday. Your hair looks nice!
Oh geez Shanda!!! Now I have to start Cinnamon Stars, I’ve had the chart for a couple years. AND I need to get back to the Grateful thankful blessed. I have the Autumn on Marigold Lane…need to start!!! Between you & Kristy I need to be stitching 24/7! 😉🤣 LOVE your silver hair, it’s gorgeous my PPS friend 💞
My PPS! I’m trying to keep up with you two! Cinnamon Stars is put away now until next year as I want to focus on those few smalls and Hallow Day Inn. Happy stitching my friend! 🪡♥️🪡♥️🪡
Oh yesss to the silver hair! Mine is platinum white and I’m loving it! It’s been that way since I was in my late 40’s….You will look like Emmy Lou Harris with all the hair you have (envious) you will rock the look!!!
I bought the Saltbox Quilt Sampler at Country Sampler this summer. I need to kit it up and stitch with you after the first of the year. Trying to finish a few WIPs before I begin new stitching.
You look beautiful now, and with silver hair. I figure we earned our silver hair! And I think we need to be happy with what ever fabric ct we are stitching on. We are stitching and it’s beautiful too! Have a lovely week! 🍁🍁🍁
Your silver hair is going to be beautiful! You have some lovely WIPS! I think fall is my favorite stitching to do also...the colors...But I have decided I better get going on Christmas as it pops up so fast! Enjoy your lovely fall.
Yes, Christmas is just around the corner and I do have some Christmas stitching that needs to be done. Thank you for your comment and I think it is just going to take time to get my hair to grow out. Happy stitching!
You have such beautiful, thick hair so you can style it in many ways while growing it out, and I love the silver! Love the name, Thankful on your sampler. Wonderful wips, too. Enjoy the Fall!🍁🍂🎃🧡
Thanks for sharing! Your home is lovely as well as your stitching. I have recently purchased Cinnamon Stars also and have loved it forever and will start it soon. I have been growing my gray (white) out also and it has been more emotional than I had thought. Your home canned sweet and sour sauce looks delish and I was wondering if you share your recipe? If you do, I would love it. Thanks again for sharing all of your lovely projects!
Thank you for the comment and yes, I think on my next FlossTube I will include my home canned sweet and sour sauce recipe. I’ve had a couple of inquiries for it so I will share. Great comment, thank you for the kind words, and happy stitching!
I’ve been so good on holding out on buying the Cinnamon Stars by Plum Street Samplers but seeing your start put me over the edge Shanda. It’s now on order and I can now say “Shanda made me do it”. ❤
Hi! So happy to see you! Always love your intros. Silver is great, and it will be beautiful. Love your finishes and ha I only stitch 32 evenweave or aida so best not be stitching police! Oh baby it’s cold outside, I must add that pattern to my wish list.lol. My oldest wip was 34 yrs old! It is done but now it isn’t really needed as was alphabet for my daughter. Lol oh Shanda I so love your videos!
My FA!! So nice to see your comment here♥️♥️! Canning tomatoes this morning and wishing you were here to have a ‘quilting together day’ with some lunch! Quilt your heart out today and hugs to all my family in Illinois!♥️
I love everything you stitch, sew, and how you decorate. I just wish your videos were longer! Please, could you let me know if your project bags are your own design, or did you follow someone else's directions. Your fabric choices are beautiful.
Project Bags. Hmmm….. always a great love of mine. I have basically three tutorials that I follow to make a hybrid of my own design. The three tutorials I watch are from Elizabeth Ann Can Stitch, Bumble Stitches, and Celeste Creates. All three have great tutorials and I combined all three of them to come up with my own design. Happy project bag making!!
Your work is beautiful, if I were you I would go to my hairdresser and do a reverse frosting. In other words you match your gray and put those streaks in your hair. Then it looks like you frosted it with the other color you colored your hair with. Then as it grows out more you won’t have to worry about it,and cut some of the length off. Perfect!
You made my day! Rough day and was so thrilled to crawl in my stitching nest and find a new video by you! You could shave your head and I’d still adore you so gray hair is no problem! I watch you for your simple lifestyle and love of needlework, quilting, books and all things home. You remind me of me! Thank you for all you share! You are always an inspiration!
Thank you, to my upbeat and positive, Ginger! Sorry you had a bad day, but climbing into the stitching nest always makes things better! Loving all your beautiful stitching I’m seeing on Instagram- keep on stitching, Sista!!!
By floss tags, do you mean the thread holders, or the rings that you keep all the floss on? If you mean the paper thread floss drops, I make mine with a big paper punch I got at hobby lobby and I make them out of card stock. If you mean the metal jewelry piece that the charm goes on (the ring of all the floss colors) -I have made some in the past but it was not my favorite thing to do so I buy them on Etsy. Let me know which you are inquiring about and I’ll give you a few more details. Happy stitching and great question!
Hi, Happy Fall! I think your hair is coming in a beautiful color of silver. During the pandemic I let my hair grow long and go natural. I am in my 70's and am loving my long hair. Most of my friends think I have lost my mind. I always like seeing your patterns, they are just what I love too. Just wondering if your home is a sandbox? We live out in the country and have a 1920's cottage farmhouse. Which brings me to the question, what is the name of the paint on your walls? Enjoy your falling leaves and stitching time.
Long silver haired stitchers - unite! ♥️. My home is not a Saltbox, but a renovated 1940’s farmhouse set in a orchard area of southwest Idaho. I don’t remember the color of paint we used, something basic and premixed from Home Depot. Happy stitching and enjoy the Fall!🪡🪡🪡
Great question! Linen White from Olde Century Colors. Kinda hard to find that paint company, but I had some left over from a prior house and just color matched it with Behr from Home Depot. Thanks for watching!♥️
Thanks for the visit. Love the crane on the wall behind you. My poor husband has one of those on his to make list for me. I want I big one to display an antique quilt over our bed.
Oh my goodness, my Kindle changed the word saltbox to sandbox! :-o
So, sew close to finishing.

Great question! Linen White from Olde Century Colors. Kinda hard to find that paint company, but I had some left over from a prior house and just color matched it with Behr from Home Depot. Thanks for watching!♥️
