    I absolutely agree on the utility sink. It would probably be the first and foremost thing on my list 👍
    The tap adapter is brilliant 😁
    Definitely a great recommendations on insulation and the power too!
    Oh my gosh, I know the struggle of the "daisy chain" piggybacked power cords 🤪
    Great advice Blake, it may be a while before I get to build an actual Fish Room, it's nice to see videos like this to go ahead and get thoughts in your head on how to design one!!
    I hope you and your family are having a blessed and wonderful weekend 🙏🥰🌿🐟🌿👍
    PS I Love Priscilla's Prints on the wall, I have saved my calendar to ftame mine too 🤩♥️

    This content was so relevant to me. I'm moving in two weeks and I will have all my tanks, terrariums and studio in one room for the first time ever. Thanks!

    "I moved house, into this brand new fish room" makes it sound like you sold your house and just literally moved into a fish room lol

    3 phase is perfect for you mate. The way it works is usually you have one black wire (negative) one red (positive) you have one negative and three positives that run separately. So your fish room can be on phase 1 your house on phase 2 and a workshop on phase 3. Each one is separate so if trip a circuit breaker in the house the fish room will still be running. Also quite often when the power goes out in a storm only one or two phases might drop out so you might still have a power in parts of the house. I was an electrician so we connected a lot of 3 phase to houses with big hobby's or businesses. Excellent set up you have mate you have worked hard to get it. BLOODY DAYCARE 🤣🤣🤣

    I couldn’t agree more mate, having a large dual cavity sink installed in my fishroom has made a world of difference. Congrats on your new home as well🙂👍🏻

    thanks for the info Blake will be moving house soon to but my new fish room is going in the shed itll be well insulated & ill be including a floor drain aswell to drop a siphon into I currently use a diesel heater in my fish room it works really well only $140 on ebay & only uses 20L a week in winter now its hardly even turned on in summer when I build the new shed hopefully in 2 months time I will be laying polypipe in the concrete slab to run hot water through to heat the slab & ill keep the diesel heater as back up the water will be heated by solar so i expect the diesel heater will still get used in winter (south coast wa gets cold)

    Thanks for the info! A couple of questions.
    1. Why the air pump/sponge filter instead of the sumps that most aquarium shops use?
    2. Why no matten filters? My understanding is they are an improvement over sponge filters.
    3. Did you go for a consistent lighting choice or a mixture of different types? Which light fixture would you recommend?
    4. You seem to have a mixture of tank brands and sizes. Is there any size and brand of tank that you recommend?
    Happy for you to answer these questions in a video 👍

    • @BlakesAquatics
      @BlakesAquatics  2 роки тому +1

      1. Sumps require either pumps for every tank or tanks to share water which limits water chemistry or may easier spread disease.
      2. I find matten filters tedious to clean and more expensive to set up
      3. I have various lights for various levels of plants / co2 etc
      4. I like kmart 20L tanks and bioscape or petworx tanks for anything larger

    Great vlog Blake.
    I found it both interesting and informative.
    I shall be moving house myself in the next few months so is great to follow your progress.
    I need to learn how to make racks and hopefully it will save money and fit in better.
    Thank you 🙂

    I find those Arlec powerboards dont do too well when there is moisture around. I use them and use to have them sitting in the same area as my sump had 2 out of 4 die on me. But when i moved them to another compartment of my tank cabinet that was away from the sump and sealed off from any moisture i havent experienced any issues since.

      I wont truly know until I have gone a year or so without heaters, even then I have 11kV of solar now but it used to cost 400 a month in electricity

    Thanks for that Blake it’s great how you have shared so much with us. Thinking is there any way that a solar panel might run the air or heaters. Can you buy 12v aquarium heaters anyway?

    I was looking at converting my house to 3 phase but we would need to replace out solar and it’s costs a bucket to change it maybe if I win loto and move out of this place because we have spent so much money on this place I won’t be moving anytime soon 😂

    • @BlakesAquatics
      @BlakesAquatics  2 роки тому

      Thats no good, im not sure how it works once theyre in place but the jump in quote from single phase to 3 phase was only 1.5k or something in wiring

    Great video mate! I do have two questions though if that's ok?
    1. If you built your house, why didn't you add a fish room rather than use the garage?
    2. When will you show the actual moving of the fish? This is something I struggle with haha

    • @BlakesAquatics
      @BlakesAquatics  2 роки тому +1

      1. Unfortunately I dont have unlimited budget 😄 but even if i did a double garage lends itself so well for a fishroom. Concrete floors, easy access to drain tanks down the driveway to empty buckets, close to bins etc
      2. I did a video on the best way to move fish and used that method

  • @benc3214

    My garage door is the same size and operation as yours what size foil board did you find worked out best to use and what do you reckon it cost you all up to do the door. Funnily enough I was only looking at getting the pre fab kit the other day, my door faces west so gets hammered in the arvo.

    • @BlakesAquatics
      @BlakesAquatics  2 роки тому +1

      Hey Ben, i bought 4 or 5 of the panels. The width they come in matches fairly close to the width of the garage door panels so you can calculate the length. Just be mindful if its like mine the middle sections are wider than the edge sections. Bit of a paper and pen exercise to calc what youll need sorry

    I know you just moved. I'm getting ready to move two states up. And I have 18 tanks running. 10 gallon tanks and 25 gallon tanks. Any pointers. I have mainly guppies, bristelnose pleco and panda cory's?

    • @BlakesAquatics
      @BlakesAquatics  2 роки тому +1

      Interstate is hard. It might be worth shipping them to yourself with heat packs in styrofoam boxes so you can pack down the tanks and set them back up. If not grab a bunch of usb air pumps and heavy duty storage containers

    I have 5 of those Arlec grid connect smart plugs. 2 died within the first month. Not that happy with them at all.
