"This here is my 10 foot rod" followed by "my biggest tailor was 74cm, I dunno what that is in inches..." was hilarious haha cheers from USA! I live vicariously through your channel, being over here in the cold boring waters of the pacific northwest makes me jealous of your amazing fishing spots!
Been checking/frothing everyday for new content since the last video, eyes lit up when I seen new video come up 😂 love watching you catch fishes mate, it's what I do when I'm not fishing.
Love the OverThere rods, I’ve caught so many different species with that rod, it’s so versatile! Hope Daiwa releases the Japan model, OverThere AGS to the Aussie market. It would be great to have a travel version of that rod! Love your vids Briggsy!
Briggsy!! Super cool video brother! Mixed bag of lures and hookup on all of um! Fishing AU is so epic🎣🎣🎣🎣🎣🎣🎣 I spend hours, days, weeks, months casting with no hits! 🤣🤣🤣🤣 Aloha to you and yours💪🤙👍👊🎣🎣🎣🎣🎣
Another good bread & butter inexpensive every man fishing vid. You illustrate well that you don't need to spend loads of cash to be successful & have fun. Especially the gutter fishing for flatties with soft plastics, that was also great.
For us in the US the Bluefish that you are catching are referred to "Taylor" Blues. Those fish 30 inches and above are referred to as "Chopper" Blues. They are fantastic from the surf.
Always in the whitewash! The halco slide dogs work amazing for tailor too. But I'm going to go back to trying some old school metals after seeing this. Cheap and effective.
right after i commented Briggsy talks about the thing I just said LOL but those fish r very fun to catch especially on light tackle the big ones but up a good fight
I'm in south Carolina in the US. Love ur video bro. Both of those blue were really good. I was lucky enough to get into a school of Blue for a solid week on Duck Island on the Virginia and North Carolina boarder. (East Coast US) the biggest was probably 28 inches 9lbs. One of the best fishing trips I've ever had!! 👍👍👍👌
We have taylor in the Mediterranean too mate! They usually only are caught in ports and i have jet to catch one since I live far from the ports. But they are being caught as big as 2.5kg on cut bait. THATS SOLID MATE
American living in Australia here (since 2012). Tailor/bluefish in the states definitely tend to be a bit bigger on average. But again that is my own experience and information from my friends in both countries that fish as well.
Just got a similar combo to this, 5000 daiwa revelry on an oceans legacy dream cast 9’8” pe.3 can’t wait to flick off the beach and rocks this summer 😁👌
@@RikkiTikkiTavi290 last week the Tarpon were crushing glass minnows near Ron Jon’s. The birds were working the top, and 80# Tarpon were air out all over the beach. They were just out of casting reach, but the boaters were putting on a show!
Dude, go to the Azores, bluefish/taylor are caught there up to 15kg ;) Frequently caught between 5kg and 9kg, in fact below 5kg we consider them small, between 5 and 7kg is ok, above 7kg is a good fish, above 10kg is BIG fish! ahahahah
By "northern waters", you don't mean New England/The Northeast Atlantic states, right? Because we catch them over 40" and 20+Lbs off the rocks when they're around. We call them "Gators" or "Choppers" because they get into a school of bunker and chop them up.
Cool thumbnail. Edit, I'm originally from Eastern North Carolina where the world record all tackle Bluefish was caught at Cape Hatteras (14.4 kg). Bluefish is name you mostly hear in the USA but I've actually heard them called Tailors in North Carolina, maybe because of shared Scottish ancestry between people in that part of America and Australia??? Keen to find out if they're here in Bali but probably too hot for them. Cheers.
Hello mate! My names Rich and I'm from the states , NewYork specifically...anyway yeah my last blue fish or taylor as you call them "blitz" they were all about 14-16 lbs range . Dont know how that converts but they give up a proper fight for that class fish! Wanted to say thanks for all your hard work on the vids brotha!!
Hi 14-16lb is about 6-7kilo rougly so a fraction larger if in doubt to convert lb to kilos its roughly 2.2 or 2.4lbs to 1 kilo but they are solid fish at that size i run the slightly heavier rod than briggsy is usinf in this video to cast 5/8 oz metals about 200 yards or so for these fish and its so fun 20lb braid 20-30lb leader but mainly off the beach
@@hanna2nv I fish in roughly the same area as Richard and I use slightly longer and heavier rods than Briggsy as well, 10'6" 3/4-4oz or 2-6oz, if there's a chance that there are bluefish bigger than say 3lbs, you up your leader weight. If all I'm catching is blues, I'm not using less than 60lb. A lot of people use wire leader as well. Since I fish almost exclusively off the rocks, I usually use 40lb braid, nothing less than 30. You can get away with 20 off the beach, but I'd go thicker on the leader if there's big blues around.
I've literally caught a hundred in a day in the Outer Banks of North Carolina. They fight hard for their size and absolutely annihilate plugs and metals.
Yeah bluefish but think tailor is a better name! When big we call em “choppers” - we get a run of big ones certain times of year but mostly day in and day out same size your getting there and a 50cm is a good one! 74cm is a chopper for sure, don’t think I’ve ever seen a 100cm blue!? Maybe guys in north East US will chime in??? They might catch meter bluefish. Cheers man hope all is awesome looks like a blast of a day!
State records of bluefish max out around the high 20s. Lots of big ones around at certain times. You can go out on nightfishing boats and catch 10-15lbers one after another. From what I've seen the U.S. has much bigger sizes over-all but AUS has the odd super giant that is rare in the U.S. too.
We call them choppers when they are babies haha because all they do is chop up ur baits or soft plastics and when they get big we start calling them green backs as they have that nice olive green colour along thier backs
The key I've found is that they have to come from cold water or they taste awful. For instance a bluefish caught in New York will taste a lot better than one caught in Florida with meat quality being very different.

Nice tailor sesh mate, good to see a new vid as always :)
No idea why but I was unsubscribed and had no idea you were still posting. Happy I have a ton of videos to watch from you now😂
Imagine that but 18lbs...! That's what we call gators here in the North East of the states. Me and my son are big fans tight lines Briggs

"I'm scared for my popper"... me too, Brigsy, me too...
You should come to the northeast us for the striped bass blitz
Nothing like it! Of course, that Labor Day mixed blitz can get pretty expensive sometimes.

yep bluefish get bigger in the mediterranean and around the US, they get huge 15/20 kilo ones in the river deltas on 20cm pencil poppers
Great to see you back. love the video. Need to get myself a 9ft rod now 😃
Been waiting for ya to put one up good mate
hey briggsy how you going mate hows the fam and ochre going? great content as always mate, need more of it champ YEOW!
MY ANXIETY WENT THROUGH THE ROOF WHEN I SAW THE TITLE PHOTO

Come to the east coast of Florida! The Mullet run is starting up! About to get crazy here!

Great video - when they are on like that they will eating anything and everything. Did you have a bit of old sock to try?
More metal lures! been falling in love with metal jigs lately!
74cm is a nice fish here. That's in the top end of our range in the more northern waters.
50-65cm would be standard for the "good" range though.

Hey briggsy, Have you tried relix nusantara pasukan karang?
Hey Briggsy can you do a fishing trip to croatia?
Have you ever used automatic swimbait led lures?
Great session. Quick question …… why do you need to use a swivel when using a metal???
I think because they tend to spin a lot in the water, which causes your line to twist
