Big fan of Matthew here. His most notorious role is currently Tom, but his performances in Howard’s End, Quiz, Death at a Funeral, and of course as Mr Darcy are richer (so to speak) and more nuanced.
It's unfortunate that when Matthew Macfadyen's credits are mentioned, he receives so little attention for Ripper Street. It was a phenomenal show! Those who haven't seen it have missed an amazing performance on his part as the haunted, tough but vulnerable, and incredibly appealing Inspector Edmund Reid. He was sexy as Darcy, funny and smarmy as Tom W. But Ripper Street shows the wide scope of his talent. American audiences need to watch only the first episode, and they'll be hooked!
Thank you so much for this lively informative video concerning beautiful and phenomenal actor Matthew MacFadyen... truly enjoyed this I did! Matthew is my favorite actor and most quintessential he is.. and as you explained he is talented as a comedic actor as well as a brilliant dramatic actor.. Must admit though that I prefer Matthew in his dramatic roles.. an unforgettable Mr Darcy who played him as I have always imagined him to be.. and a kind and loving Arthur in Little Dorrit is the finest role he has played in my opinion.. Matthew owns this role.. no one has or will ever play it better.. Have not watched him in Succession although I did see Matthew in My Fathers Den which literally broke my heart.. the scene where he slowly sinks to the floor and melts down emotionally screaming in agony as his very soul crumbled is so difficult to watch.. Matthew MacFayden is awesome in this movie all the way through..another of his finest dramatic performances.. Only one thing do I dislike about this fine actor.. and that is his tendency toward self deprecation.. this beautiful man has said he is not romantic enough.. not handsome enough for Mr Darcy.. not slim enough.. that his head is too large and that his hair is funny.. so wrong he is on all these fronts.. To me.. and to legions of others.. he is truly beautiful.. with eyes that speak a language of their own.. always Matthew seems on the verge of a smile,, his nose is so perfect it makes you cry.. and his hair ,.you just want to run your fingers through it ., looks so silky soft.. And then there are his shyly sweet mannerisms and expressions.. and the interesting and endearing things he does with his hands.. with a voice that could melt butter he can caress.. convince.. cajole his way into any heart,. So yeah.. Matthew MacFadyen is a guy who is most attractive.. he has amazing chameleonic gifts to be whomever he chooses to be.. and to make us love him along the way.. most ardently indeed.. There is a tribute video I watched once which celebrates Matthew in many of his roles.. the final pic shows him in his role as Hareton Earnshaw in Wuthering Heights.. I was privileged to see him in that.. brilliant he was., and awesomely beautiful as well.. So.. if I could choose but one word to define Matthew MacFadyen.. it would be that.. beautiful.. Jen999💙
Maybe I misunderstood, hit a scary rough patch until 2013 and then thankfully the phone started ringing???? It's a joke????!!!!! Who was the actor in Death at a Funeral, Secret Life, Frost/Nixon, Little Dorrit, The Pillars of the Earth, Any Human Heart, or Anna Karenina, maybe a double??? Please!!! you want to sell us the idea that someone who rejects offers in big Hollywood fails in his career, this actor, like many others, is not a good example to demonstrate that, he continued with a tremendous career using his talent in different and unconventional jobs. Before making your list of what we don't know, please do a little research. Hollywood stopped being the mecca of cinema a long time ago, now we receive this art from all over the world, if some cases with great difficulty, but every day it becomes clearer where there is more quality. Advice see Secret life and In my father's den😉
I have a bit of an issue with one of your comments, he was working steadily between 2006-7 and 2013. Many different roles. Ripper Street was fantastic.
Tal vez entendí mal, es lo más seguro, mala racha hasta el 2013 y entonces felizmente el teléfono empezó a sonar???? Es broma????!!!!! Quién fue el actor en Death at a Funeral, Secret Life, Frost/Nixon, Little Dorrit, The Pillars of the Earth, Any Human Heart, o Anna Karenina, tal vez un doble??? Un consejo vean Secret life y In my father's den...y luego hablamos de Mr. Darcy😉
Please get your facts straight before publishing them. Matthew and Keeley have two children together. Matthew is step-father to Keeley's son from her first marriage. Matthew has played in many films, tv shows and mini-series before being approached for Succession. You won't get many subscribers if you can't even state true facts. Do your homework!
Si . Dos hijos con Keeles. Ella estaba casada hacía sólo dos años y tenía a su hila . Se separó de su ex y como ya estaba embarazada de Macfadyen tuvieron que casarse. Poquísimos meses después nació su primer hijo.
How can he and his wife both be allergic to dogs and cats when his wifes costar was an actual dog. And you guys forgot to put in some of his other Famous roles like Ripper Street so he really did not go through a dry patch because he has a ton of movies
They both are allergic to cats and dogs, hence the hypo-allergenic dog. I guess they took and maybe still take anti-histamine when having to work with cats and dogs. Don't you think?
Matthew is so well known in the UK he learnt how to keep a stoney face from SPOOKS playing another Tom Little Doritt he is due to do amother mini series about a disgraced MP soon never seen Succession dont have Sky not on Freeview yet there are so many flims AND TV such as Ripper Street where the laughing he was well known for

‘Things you didn’t know’ ? Seriously?
Я его о-бо-жа-ю!❤

To call yourself Fact Factory you need to be ... factual. The "rough patch until 2013" was really badly researched info.
Matthew MacFadyen is British actor, not English. His father is obviously Scottish, his mother is Welsh.
