The salon will continue to deny everything except if she sues. Even then they might still refuse to admit fault but at least that way they'd have to cover her medical bills.
I agree that she should have at least been reimbursed, but as a Cosmetology student, the hair color really shouldn't have caused that kind of reaction. It's not the same as bleach and doesn't cause the same kind of irritation unless you're sensitive to color. My guess is that she's allergic otherwise something must've happened to the formula for whatever reason.
Kate S. She said she had her hair bleached that day it could have happened from the bleach and the hair color could have just made the burn feeling more noticeable
I am almost certain that the reason the last girl had 3rd degree burns and only on two places is because the stylist somehow left bleach on her scalp and didnt rinse it all out
Bleach or rare allergic reaction some people can never have a reaction and then have a reaction just once. Could also be lighteners that didn’t have bleach. So many factors still awful. Wonder if anyone was at fault or not
My hair horror story: When I was 15 I got a weave that was super tight and I had a dull radiating pain in the middle of my head. I asked my mom if could take it out and she said no because she paid money for it. The pain persisted, and then maybe a week in it started to get really itchy and whenever I would scratch the area red flakes would come out. Three weeks later my Mom finally let me take out the weave, and as she was taking it down she screamed. In the middle of my head the weave actually split open my scalp and I had a wound there. I went to a salon the next day and they refused to treat me because of the open wound. To this day, almost 10 years later, that area is still extremely sensitive and the hair there grows in a different texture from the rest of my head. Maybe a year or two after that incident I attempted to get another weave, and I actually had a panic attack at the salon and had my mom take it down the next morning. The next school day was the first time I ever wore my natural hair to school though and I got a lot of compliments 👍. I have never gotten a weave after that and never will.
Yes the braiding from the weave can not be to tight it will and can cause extreme damage as you unfortunately experienced. Everybody can not do good weaves! Nothing wrong with ur natural hair and I'm sure it's beautiful 😍
SammHughes because if they had, they’d have known she has a sensitive scalp, not just dry. Aside from that alone, 99% of salons don’t perform patch tests or do consultations on a different day than the day they provide services.
It’s actually on the client to come in for a patch test 24-48 hours beforehand. Many times when they book appointments, they don’t find out that someone has never had hair dye. If they knew that they should have recommended a patch test but 1. doing a patch test the day of in ineffective 2. They’ve already booked the appointment so if the client hasn’t disclosed before booking and didn’t come in for a patch test, most stylists won’t turn away a service and lose money for that time and 3. Most clients won’t do a patch test on the day they were scheduled for an appointment and then come back in a few days. In my experience, people just want to make their hair change now.
@@Aubz47 it is true that people, myself included can be very impatient when they want a change, but on the other hand no salon has ever said come in for a patch test, nor have I heard that they do it for other people around me
As a licensed cosmetologist, I would be willing to bet it was the combination of lifting her natural remaining pigment and then using a permanent color to tone that gave her a chemical burn. Given that she has a natural level of two or three, they probably used either 30 or 20 volume developer. The amount of ammonia or peroxide in permanent color is much higher and her scalp having just been bleached was already in a delicate state. The first thing they should’ve recommended was that she seek medical attention when she expressed she had subjective symptoms that were extreme. I understand why they weren’t concerned because typically permanent color doesn’t irritate the scalp. However when someone tells you they are in pain, you need to act immediately and not try to minimize the situation. It’s too bad she’s afraid of coloring her hair now. She needs to find someone in a high end, luxury Salon who will give her a consultation, not on the same day of her color service, so she can discuss her hair history and her trepidation’s. That way they can develop a plan of action and application that would protect her delicate scalp. It’s doable, but do not go somewhere cheap and expect anything better. By cheap I mean with her dark hair at a high-end salon she should expect to pay around $200 or $300 for hair color, not $60 or $80. It’s an investment in her health, clearly.
Marilyn also she should have came in 24 hours beforehand to do a patch test like you are supposed to do for people who have never had color. because she could be allergic to hair dye or even that brand of hair dye
She’s still getting treated for it by the dermatologist. Probably still not a good time to work on her scalp any time soon 😭. Also where do folks get color stuff for $60-80?! Walmart? Mine cost me $150 with a discount 😰
High end, luxury salon isn't a guarantee of good service though. Things can happen. I had an issue with my colour at one point when I was younger and I went to the most high end salon in the country to try and get my colour corrected. The woman who did my colour there was and still is celebrated as one of the best stylists/colourists in the country, she works with every major celebrity in the country and gets great results. In my experience however, she did not get the colour I was after at all, she did a great job of making my colour even, but it wasn't at all the colour I had asked for and my scalp was slightly burnt. I had to pay a pretty high price for that and it was the only place where that happened. I never went back there and found another salon where they took proper care of my hair and always checked to make sure everything was going fine.
I'm not even some licensed anything and I know that... Like if you do that stuff at home it's bad enough but if someome at a salon doesn't know... You can put like the semi permanent stuff on bc that doesn't have any chemicals in there that actually burn your scalp more than it already has been.. Whyyyyy don't people do their research??? Especially professionals.. like what even
for around 6 years i used to get a "straight" hair perm, always at the same salon. the day that i moved to another country and got my hair permed by someone else aaaallll of my hair fell of and turned green. I have to chop it all basically to a very short pixie. I never cried to my hair like i did at this time.
Yeah I remember reading in a magazine long ago that she has naturally curly hair...but she also uses a clipless curling iron to go over a bunch of the curls. I do that too sometimes
I have super curly hair and back in that 2009-10 era, I did it too. I read a whole thing about how she did her hair and so I would curl my curls, but I was like 13, and so I didnt know how to fix my frizz. I had some crazy curls, but even crazier frizz 😂😂😂
Yeah her wavy hair was too uniformed to be natural. I remember people thinking her was naturally wavy like that.... T Swifts curled waves feel like a whole lifetime ago.
THANK YOU, that bugged me. Taylor did have naturally curly/wavy hair but I've been a Swifty for years and have seen videos of her curling it to get that look. I have her hair and I do the same thing to mine. Definitely not a perm 😅
What’s up with the rude comments about the first person‘s hair? I don’t see anything wrong with it! Just because they probably couldn’t pull off a look like that doesn’t mean they should be a d!ck
Thank you! Why do people feel so compelled to say rude things on the internet? Is it because they don’t have the guts to say these things in real life and just need to let out all their hate on a random stranger who won’t go off on them?
Brandi Munguia exactly! these ppl would never say anything in person but it’s so easy to online🤦🏼♀️ but you know the moment someone says something similar to them they’d freak out
So the First Lady who has the perm. When she showed the pictures of her hair cut after the perm you can see she has her hair coloured. Her roots growing through about an inch then brown and some bleach highlights in fringe in more noticeable. I would not recommend perming bleached or heavily lightened hair.
SammHughes plus she said her friend shampooed her hair right after she got done with the perm. you can’t shampoo your hair for 2-3 days after a perm. plus i don’t know if she did but you aren’t supposed to use conditioner beforehand either.
I used to home dye too. I gave it up because i have really dense, straight blond hair going white, it didn't matter how much i divided it i couldn't make the ink go into every part of my hair. I had white patches everywhere.
I just got my hair "professionally" dyed for the first time a couple weeks ago. All I wanted was some natural Auburn highlight. I spent 7 hours in a salon chair because half way through doing my "highlights" she realized that she messed up and had to rinse my hair asap and start over again with wet hair. She had literally just dyed my whole head instead of giving me highlights and to make things worse when I got home I noticed she had left bleach in my hair from not rinsing it all out. So now I have a huge blonde patch in my hair.
My hair horror story: I was around 9-8 and i was just getting a trim, the lady was kinda annoying (not to be rude) she was always talking, but she gave me tea and cocao and when i looked in the mirror, my hair was so short and i held back my tears, my mom paid and i heard the lady say “She is gonna love it” my Mom and the lady just smiled and we walked out, my Mom was pissed 1. It was expincieve 2. My hair was too short We never came back... Sorry for my bad english
Your English is great! Spelling in English is tough, don’t worry about that. Even those who speak English fluently have troubles with spelling and grammar, do not worry. :)
@@ohitsnotme9056 No she didn't. The hairdressers job is to listen to the client. She didn't and cut someone's hair much shorter than they asked for because she thought she knew better.
The only time I’ve had hair dye fails were when I’ve gotten it professionally done to get fun colors (teals, blues, reds, etc) So I just stick with doing it myself now.
My horror story is that I was bleaching my hair for the first time at the salon, and the stylist put the bleach and foil on my head too close to the scalp, so when she put me under the hair dryer she set the heat clearly too hot or the bleach had a chemical reaction with some other product, and the bleach started to leak out of the foils and onto my scalp PLUS the hot foil BURNING MY HEAD. And I literally started screaming because it felt like my head was on fire, my hair was literally steaming so the steam was adding to the heat. So the stylist washed the bleach out and I had really bad burns on my scalp and blistering. The color turned out beautiful tho 😂 For the next few days the blisters were like popping and puss was coming out but they eventually healed without any further complications.
It’s not easy to speak up if you have anxiety or are very non-confrontational. I have received a lot of bad services in my life and it is more terrifying for me to speak up than to just live with the results.
It's not that I don't like my hair, I'm just not really emotionally attached to it. It's not like a scar where the skin will never be the same, hair just grows back.
my friend wanted to grow his hair out his mom didn't want him to they compromised he's had a mullet for 5 years he said he doesn't want it pray for him
Omg I would love to do the last girls hair and let her see the good side of being a stylist! I would show her the safe and comfortable ways in lightening hair when wanting to go lighter on naturally dark hair. If your ever in Missouri send me a message!
something similar to the last girl happened to me after i bleached my hair to go blonde and i'm still traumatized to this day (it's been over 7 years)-- got a third degree burn and the hair came off which created a bald spot for which i had to get surgery to reduce the size of it since sadly, hair won't grow back :( i still have the bald spot sadly
ultra hair horror story: i got a under cut during the summer and i absolutely loved it and my mom had both side undercut and back undercut so as my hair is unreasonable thick i got all 3. i went to an all women salon that didn’t have a lot of experience with men’s styles so i went in there wanting to get the other side and back undercut. the lady that was doing my hair said it was symmetrical to the other side but one side was was 3/4 of an inch higher and the back was not straight. i cried because me and my mom knew it was going to take a long time to grow out. we had to go to a very expensive salon and spent 2 hours there. bless my hair dresser she spent so long working out a shave design to lose as minimal hair as possible because if u had just tried to match the other side i would’ve have 3 inches of hair and 2 years later it finally matches length with the rest of my hair
Notice they all still have dyed hair lol my hair is currently fried I was a natural blonde and impulsively died my hair pink it kept fading I kept dying it needless to say now it's orange and won't hold any color idk what happened I miss my natural hair
Charlie Rodgers I’ve heard a lot of good things from Arctic Fox. I’ve used Manic Panic a lot as I like when I first wash my hair you can stop when the water runs clear and doesn’t keep running out every time you shower (unless you’re using a harsh shampoo/conditioner).
For the last woman: I am so sorry that you went through that experience. I am a stylist and it is my firm opinion that the salon should have taken responsibility. 3 things could have happened here: 1. The stylist did bot thoroughly wash off the lightner (bleach). So it would have been sitting on your scalp still during the colour process. If lightner is bot thoroughly washed off or left on too long then burns can definitely happen on the scalp. 2. There could have been an allergic reaction to either the lightner or the colour. This is why patch tests are SO important. 3. There could have been a product build up on the hair or scalp that reacted with the colour or lightner. Anything from certain dry shampoos to at home colour and Henna can cause this. This is why a thorough consultation is necessary for all chemical services. A stylist MUST know hair history and all products that have been used on the hair including at home colors.
If you had a scratch on your scalp and they put bleach on it, that could have caused the burn. However, under no circumstances should the stylist have told you it was “dry scalp”. Businesses rarely take responsibility for their mistakes. It’s an unfortunate experience. I nearly died once because of a dr’s negligence... but if you ask them, they did nothing wrong!
My horror story: my hairs falling out 🤠 I’m 16 years old. It started falling out when I was 14, unexpectedly, like it just randomly started falling out one day and I thought it was weird, but not that much because at the time I had dandruff so I usually did lose a little bit of hair. A few weeks pass by and I start seeing my scalp. And I began getting worried because now when my hair would fall out, it would fall out in handfuls. My hair was the only thing I felt confident with and now I have little hair and my self esteem is 📉
when I was 5 my grandma cut my bangs and they were so short and when I went to school the next day the teacher said “aw did you cut your hair yourself?!” 😂
I was a teenager and tried to bleach my hair and put it straight on the scalp and left it on there for an hour. My hair looked terrible and my scalp was BURNED badly. I ended up dying it brown and went to my stylist a few days later. My stylist was shocked my hair didn’t fall out. I never have tried to bleach my hair again. Leave it to the professionals.
I have 2 hair dye horror stories. 1. I was 11 and around that time there was a hair lightening gel that once applied would lighten your. I thought it would be cool to have blonde hair and put so many globs of that hair gel on my hair that left me with reddish patches everywhere. I had to go to an actual professional and have my hair fixed. 2. I was 18 and should've known better than to go to a cheaper salon but I really wanted my hair dyed this brownish red color. I specifically told the lady that I didnt want any bleach on my hair whatsoever. She said no worries I can get you the color you want without bleach. Halfway through dye being in my hair she SCRUBBED some bleach on my ends because the color wasnt catching on my ends. MY HAIR WAS FRYEDDDD! I'VE NEVER BEEN TO A HAIRDRESSER AGAIN
Have you ever heard the term “you get what you pay for”? Instead of never going to a hairdresser for color again, maybe don’t cheap out and do your research on the salon/colorist you are going to. Yelp exists for a reason.
I died my hair blue around 4 months ago, it has been slightly green ever since, my hairdresser bleached over it and that kinda helped, I found a crazy good silver shampoo and now it is finally almost white/platinum blonde again. I am glad my hair is super thick because it wouldn't have survived if it was thinner.
If you want it to be blue again you just need to go to sallys and pick up a shade of blue you like. Brands like arctic fox manic panic etc.. Blue dye will almost always fade to a green tinge and you need to maintain the color. Also these types of color dont damage the hair but the bleach will so be careful.
I have one to share: It was 8 years ago, I have crazy obsession on having a red hair since I watched Anime a-lot! So I bleached my hair until it reaches level 8 or 9 with the help of my mom like the guy in the video. Then I bought this red permanent hair color on a salon supply store, well... something went wrong on that part. After applying that to my bleached hair for 35 minuites, I rinse it and to my horror, MY HAIR TURNED INTO COTTON.CANDY.EFFIN'.PINK! What's even worse it brightens as it dries! my sisters and my brother saw it and they laughed! And I've never been humiliated infront of my family because of that hair color fail! Later that day, I rushed to the salon supply store to fix the disastrous hair color I have, I wear beanie hat of course... that even makes my humiliation worse 😒 Its still a mystery to me on how that happened to this day
Oh it's happened to me in the past! (Its also why my ends fade faster than my roots) Because your hair was bleached to such a high level, depending on how fast it was raised, your hair couldnt take pigment. I had a stylist rapid lighten my hair and it is the reason my ends wont hold pigment. After bleaching, she put lavender dye in and my ends turned an ashy gray due to just not being able to hold the color. For bright reds, it doesnt have to be super bleached thankfully! I stick to dark pinks because red fades so fast
Wow reading the comments was so informative. I have super dark brown hair (it looks black but is brown underneath light) and I dyed my hair only once in my life. I went red as well but I didn't bleach my hair. However, my scalp was tingling/stinging while the dye was setting and I never notified anyone because I thought this was just normal. Coming from a predominantly African-American environment where 95% of black girls & women have their hair chemically relaxed, I had heard that relaxers tingle. So I thought it was normal for my scalp to burn a little when applying a chemical. (I have never had a relaxer so dying my hair was the first chemical thing I did to it and the last). My hair did thin and fall out over time, however I think it was due to already having very dry hair and then not moisturizing it properly after dying it. And my tingling/stinging sensation didn't last 24 hours like hers did. But after reading the comments, now I'm shocked to learn that it's not supposed to burn at all. It's been 8 years since I dyed my hair and my hair is finally super thick again. Too thick really 😭 Maybe I need to dye it again to thin it out. lol
I got my hair permed and it looks great! Just make sure you know who is doing it and know they have a good past of what they are doing on you! And you should be fine :) I also only dye my hair at home since I've had bad experiences with professionals doing it. But my hair has been every colour of the rainbow in a span of 3 years, (I have extremely healthy hair right now and I permed and dyed it two months ago so my hair is fine lol don't worry)
You must have really strong hair to be able to color and perm it with no damage. I wanted to get a perm a few years ago to even out my curl pattern that had been ruined from years of bleaching and coloring (my hairline was a 3b/c but my crown was a 2a on a good day). My hairdresser said she would never perm hair unless it is Virgin. Instead of perming it, i shaved my head and I quit bleaching/coloring it and stopped using any hot tools or products that aren’t curly girl approved. It took 2 years of growing it out and not using any damaging products, but I did eventually even out the curl pattern all over. Once I evened out the curl pattern, I bleached and colored my hair and the curl pattern has stayed even and my hair is still healthy.
@@recoil53 true, but she also was distracted. And the chemicals then were different compared to now so it could also be completely different, and who knows how her hair was before she did it. Your hair needs to be quite healthy to do that unless you have good hair in general, so technically yes she did know her but there where other precautions before she did the perm
Brandi Munguia I have found that the best products for curly hair are one ingredient or full of only a few natural ingredients. If I don’t know what one of the ingredients in a product is then is does not touch my hair. I have noticed a big difference in the health of my hair when I was using products “for curly hair” to now. Every product for natural/ curly hair I’ve seen has not been actually good for curly/natural hair and especially with the whole Devacurl debacle going on right now has only solidified that for me.
I personally never had a hair dye horror story but one of my past teachers did. She bought some hair dye and got her roommate to help her dye her hair. The dye was supposed to be a soft pink but as the roommate washes it out she realizes that her hair turned NEON PINK. Like, a REALLY bright neon pink. She said it was the brightest pink she had ever seen. If i remember correctly she ended up trying to get in contact with the company but just got a refund.
I HATE it when someone's working on a client and they're completely ignoring them because they're getting into an argument. I get that arguments can get nasty and it affects your mood, but dude, this girl had to chop off her hair because you effed it up!
Exposed my hair to flat iron and strong straightening chemicals at a young age, consistently for 4 years. I ruined my once healthy, wavy hair in exchange for a half a year of temporary straight one. Deeply regretted it, for the consequences dealt a huge blow on my crippling confidence levels; hair is thinning at such a young age, fried and lifeless. Haaah, I wish I could turn back in time and not do all those things to my hair. Regret's always in the end indeed. :((
The only problem I've had when dyeing my hair at a salon is that they thought they could keep me there for 3 1/2 hours because they had several customers at the same time. I've often had to cancel all my appointments for the afternoon in order to dye my hair. Ridiculous! In the end, I had to find a smaller salon where I could have my hair dyed in just an hour. It's a simple, dark brown for God's sake!
A friend of mine died the ends of her pixie hair bright purple and bright blue for years. All those years she often couldn't go out with us because she had to spend the whole afternoon or morning of Saturday just ok that. I literally don't have that kind of patience. Hahaha
New school, new class - girl had shaved head Me: omg did she have cancer🥺? People who knew her before told me she just f**ked up her hair reeeeeaaal bad lmao
If you are getting your hair chemically treated in a salon that typically services Black/African hair types, you would know to NOT attempt color or relaxers/perms if you have been scratching your head in the last 24hrs prior to appointment. This is the easiest way to get a chemical burn! I have colored & relaxed my hair at home with no issues ... and this was prior to UA-cam where they teach you everything online! I’m about to bleach my hair at home very soon!
Hairstylist here- the third girl with the burns sounds like they left the actual bleach on her hair too long or didn’t use anything to protect the scalp (there are plenty of additives that can help). not from leaving the second step on for a few minutes extra, which was probably a semi permanent which is more like a tinted conditioner than chemical color. They should have owned up to it and at least acknowledge that there was a problem.
I had half of my hair bleached and every places I went to always asked me if it hurts and that I have to inform them if it burns to much. The last woman should definitely sue the salon, thats just unacceptable.
I went to a salon and I asked for a TRIM the lady cut my waist length hair into a mullet and cut the top almost to the scalp. I complained and the manager was like oh well the video doesn't look like there's a mullet. (She wasn't there) but it's just crazy salons never take responsibility for their mistakes. That place only ever gets bad reviews now from ethnic women or women who want perms because they don't know how to do anything but style a certain type of hair
I've gotten my entire hair bleached twice, got chemical burns on my scalp both times. Burns with pus and eventually scabs. Don't know why i even did that the second time. How could her hair salon deny it having anything to do with the dye. They should definitely admit and compensate for not intervening.
I used to go to this one salon for years, shes always cut my hair and, when I wanted to dye it a fun color (I think purple), she absolutely freaked out. I said “____, please, I really want it and i trust you.” she finally agreed but she was still really upset about it. that’s when i noticed my friend was dying her own hair. said friend started dying my hair as well and my hairdresser absolutely FREAKED. every time I came in with a different color than what she put in, she would grab my hair (I’ve never had long hair with her btw) and yell “what did you DO? this is fried, ruined, and you just DESTROYED your hair. I mean, look at it!” and get other hairdressers AND CUSTOMERS to degrade my hair. when I started driving, that’s when I started going to a different salon. I couldn’t stand that woman. now I just go to a salon every so often, like when I want my hair cut and I’ll of course get it dyed too, but I also dye it at home myself.
I should have been in this! I bleached my hair blonde and dyed it grey and once the grey faded I dyed it blue with manic panic for a festival. I wanted to remove the blue before starting university so my hairdresser tried to bleach the blue out. It went green obviously. So we tried bleaching it again and ohhhhh nooo hunny, my hair fell off, bye Felicia! My hair was so long and beautiful before but I had to cut my hair up SO short to disguise the chunks of hair that snapped off :( It’s been 5 months now and I’m patiently waiting for it to grow back 😭.
Rainbow Colors :3 it’s growing but very slowly. It was cut up short in September and then I got another trim in December up to the nape of my neck. I’d say it’s probably grown an inch and a half since the cut in December. You can look at my Instagram @lornareily and see for yourself if you want.
I don’t really have any hair dye horror stories I guess the only horror story I had was I tried to dye my hair dark brown but it came out buffalo chicken sauce color and so then I thought let me put a brown rinse on it so that way it can tone down but it only made it lighter and I hated wearing out my hair for like three weeks straight and then I said I can’t do wigs anymore let me just wear my natural hair and everybody loved it
Yikes! I don't have a lot of money so when everyone (well, a lot of ladies) were dying their hair all kinds of unnatural colors I knew it would finally be sociably acceptable to dye my hair pink! I bought a box of Splat, did it myself and wasn't too in love with how dark it turned out. ^^; It was more of a hot pink instead of a calmer pink like on the box. It was fun having pink hair and it only cost like $13 but I haven't done anything like that since. Not that it was a bad experience I guess you could say I got it out of my system. XP
Currently suffering from a bad chemical cut. Happened in the summer of last year. It’s February and my hair is still not up to par for me. Easily one of the most soul killing things as a woman to look in the mirror and really hate your hair.
I went to a place claiming to specialize in African American natural hair ( false claims btw). The woman who did my hair was combing it from root to tip very roughly ripping hair out before washing it ( you’re supposed to de tangle from tip to root with extra curly hair ) then she said that my ends were bad and she was going to trim them. Cut my hair from mid back length into a bob just above my shoulders without asking 🤦🏽♀️🤦🏽♀️ but I should have known better from a lady with a very dry mini fro and one weave cornrow on the side of her head.
I totally emphasize with Ryan's mom. I was doing my friend's hair for his birthday and it turned out patchy the same way, so we had to go buy more and i was SO NERVOUS about putting more bleach on his hair. If his hair had broken and fallen out like that, I would also be like sobbing hysterically in horror. It turned out fine and we did a beautiful pastel blue, but that intense fear of ruining his hair was always in the back of my mind once we had to buy more bleach.
as a certified haircolorist that last lady is my worst nightmare. this is a chemical reaction burn. this is why I ALWAYS clarify someone's hair before doing any color. I've had this happen to me. my heart hurts for her.
Yes. That is not uncommon at all. Heat allows the bleach to process faster and more evenly. That is why colorists use foil when bleaching hair. It traps the heat and allows the hair to process evenly from roots to ends. I’ve been getting my hair bleached and colored for close to 20 years and my stylist has always stuck me under a dryer for at least 20 minutes during the bleaching process.
I'm bleached and dye my hair recently, when hair stylish put the colour cream on my scalp it feel like poking my scalp 😢😢😢😢😢😢.everyone compliment my ash grey hair but they never know what i been through 😂😂😂😂
here’s a recommendation for some ppl in the comments! if your gonna dye your hair at home one, don’t use splat! splat fades rather fast for most people and i’ve personally experienced it making my hair brittle. two , use a highlighter instead of bleach!! obviously don’t use the highlighting cap , just put it on the same you would do bleach and boom! light hair !! it’s worked for a ton of my friends and it doesn’t kill your hair like bleach. also all the good dyes are at sally’s and hot topic tbh.
Clown splat is horrible I used the one day dye and it made my hair fall off like half way down my hair it broke off. My hair had never been dyed or anything and then my friend dyed my hair with splat (I didn’t know it was splat) and my hair turned orange not pink mind you my hair is so blonde it’s white. Now I only go to my hairdresser for dye.
Lacy Sydney oh i’m sorry! arctic fox dye is SUPEER good and it’s vegan! you can get it at hot topic ! though hairdressers are probably the best you can get
Lacy Sydney splat is a permanent hair color, so it lifts (bleaches) and deposits hair color. It has a ton of ammonia and a high volume developer in it. That is probably why it destroyed your hair. Next time you want to color your hair, use a Demi permanent (deposit only) hair color.
Ryan's mom is the real deal, crying for her son's hair loss I love her (like a parent) Rebecca!! Giiiiiiiiiiirl !! brown skin and highlights don't go well but you learned your lesson and you should have definitely sued them
My sister works at a salon and I let one of her co workers do my haircut because she want in that day... she said she wanted to do designs in my hair... I ended up with my hair like Mr. T but uneven and SUPER short. I didn’t pay so I could really do anything about it...it been almost a year and I’ve been wearing wigs ever since. (She always asks if I’m still mad at her)
My brother does it for me at home and it's so painful, but better to rinse it yourself. Can't imagine being left with bleach in my hair at an actual salon waiting for someone to wash it.
I don't trust salons, I've given too many chances and everytime they do something wrong. I'm glad my mom trained as a hair dresser, I do everything at home, but I mean, it would take like 3 hours for the hair bleach to burn my hair.. it's ridiculously hard to take care of
I just wanna make it clear. as a professional and someone with experiance... if you bleach murder your hair it dosnt mean it needs to come of. yes if you want to and can. do it. But ive had that happend countless times, what you need to do is. Not mess with it while its wet. do not style it. just put it in a pony or leave it be as is. deep condition every other day, add on hair oil or hair silicon. and within 2 weeks my hair usally is alot better. i went 2 months without a hair cut or bleach and my hair hadnt been that healthy in ages. just because i took care of it after the fact. yes it helps alot triming the dead pieces off, but let your poor hair get some moisture so that you dont cut more then you need to. Im currently growing out my hair, and im still bleaching it :P just alot less, and being alot more consiouse about what i do. avoid bleaching the tips and so on. but ive finally settled on a color i like. sadly its part blonde. so i still have to bleach that part of my hair, but its okey as my extentions help hide the fall out :P
Tbh I've never had a hair salon horror story, but everyone thought I was about to have one when I went in to cut my thick, hip-length hair down to shoulder length. Others were sad for my hair, all I felt was relief 😂
My horror story is my mom took me to the salon when i was very young and they gave me a boys bowl cut. She claimed it was because i had gum in my hair but i know the real reason was i would cry when she would brush my hair (she was rough) and got annoyed. This continued for a very long time until i was old enough to say no. Many many ppl thought i was a boy. It was awful 😖
When I had my bleached blonde hair colored auburn red at a salon (with a few highlights bleached in), my scalp was burning worse than when i bleach my whole head that I had to ask to get washed a bit earlier than the set time under the heater. Luckily I didn't get blistered burns but my whole scalp had thick flakes for a whole week. That was the only time I had permanent dye so I just stay away from permanent dye! No clue if it was the brand of dye or whether i was placed too long under heat or whether i had a sensitivity or allergic reaction.
Oh wow just googled some hair dyes contain ppd which some are allergic to. Google says most semi permanent dyes don't have it so that may explain why i only reacted to permanent dye so far!
I went and got my hair professional dyed for the first time for my 18th birthday.(yes years of box dye is initially what killed my hair, the pro bleach is what finished it off) I got a balayage from black to blonde. After she rinsed me out I had a ton, ton of fallout. I knew some would fall out but I wasn’t expecting this much. Now almost 3 years later and my hair is still fried. They told me I have almost 6 inches of damage and I’m just not okay with giving up that much hair yet. In the years since I’ve gotten it dyed I’ve stuck to mostly air drying & absolutely no heat tools. All in all, it’s a huge risk dying your hair. Unless you have virgin hair, I would stray away from dye.
Years ago I went in to go platinum and my stylist decided to put this temporary purple color over it that lasted a whole week in order to tone my hair but idk if that was necessary. I was NOT feeling like I rocked the purple. I refuse to go purple to this day
The last woman should sue. That's an unacceptable response from the salon.
The salon will continue to deny everything except if she sues. Even then they might still refuse to admit fault but at least that way they'd have to cover her medical bills.
Jaime K. Seriously. If anything, and this is just a small step up from not doing anything, she should’ve gotten reimbursed. But she deserved WAY more.
People can absolutely get burns from hair color if they have an allergy. That's why you always do a skin patch test before using chemicals on clients
"My doctors words against them"
Sooo who went to medical school? That poor girl is STILL seeking treatment, she should sue them. That's crazy!
Rachel Cat but have you had training in a hospital setting with 3rd degree burns on their scalp from hair due
@@natalina8593 what? I'm saying that the doctors are right and that this is serious??? What are you talking about?
@natology what are you talking about she’s saying that girl should sue the salon. They have insurance for a reason.
I am almost certain that the reason the last girl had 3rd degree burns and only on two places is because the stylist somehow left bleach on her scalp and didnt rinse it all out
But see wouldn’t the bleach just dry up and stop processing? Idk so crazy!
@@Kaylakatanik Yeah but then she added the hair dye which would moisten it again which is why she felt it during that period
Bleach or rare allergic reaction some people can never have a reaction and then have a reaction just once. Could also be lighteners that didn’t have bleach. So many factors still awful. Wonder if anyone was at fault or not
Also putting red on top of just bleached hair of someone with dark hair. Bound to happen.
oh my god!!
Idk why people keep trashing on the first girl's current hair, I actually think it looks super cool and vintage with a twist. I love it!
Amanda Nguyen ya I love it
It's so cool!
She's soo pretty and has an adorable personality🥰
You must have horrible taste then. Looking at her hair makes my eyes have seizure. That hair is a horror story on it's own
If I had the money and energy I'd do mine like the first gal
My hair horror story:
When I was 15 I got a weave that was super tight and I had a dull radiating pain in the middle of my head.
Tyra Smith oh that's so scary bless your soul
🤭
Um wow
Ouch
my scalp hurt while reading this...also i'm sure your natural hair is amazing & i'm glad you decided to never get weave again 😂
Yes the braiding from the weave can not be to tight it will and can cause extreme damage as you unfortunately experienced. Everybody can not do good weaves! Nothing wrong with ur natural hair and I'm sure it's beautiful 😍
I need to know what the first woman’s friend said the next day or the day after she got her hair chopped up. 😂
Raya X lol she didn’t say anything hahah
even if it was an allergic reaction, the salon should still be liable because they didn't perform a patch test.
Renske Visser how do you know they didn’t
SammHughes cuz salons never do
SammHughes because if they had, they’d have known she has a sensitive scalp, not just dry.
@@Aubz47 it is true that people, myself included can be very impatient when they want a change, but on the other hand no salon has ever said come in for a patch test, nor have I heard that they do it for other people around me
Rebecca's story is so awful! How the stylist and the manager didn't take any accountability towards her burning scalp.
How awful!
My name is Rebecca and I dye my hair. I feel like this is a warning. Oh god and i just realised we both dyed it red.
Her hair looks great just with the ends colored so she doesn’t have to get over the fear. But if she wants to try she could do what you suggested.
Especially professionals.. like what even
I'm kinda diggin Jess' Narcissa Malfoy hair color. Looks cute the way she styled it.
Style is Narcissa. Color was red not dark grey / black
IVE BEEN FINDING A COMMENT RELATED TO THAT TOPICCHSBAUA THANK GOD. I THOUGHT I WAS THE ONLY ONE
for around 6 years i used to get a "straight" hair perm, always at the same salon. the day that i moved to another country and got my hair permed by someone else aaaallll of my hair fell of and turned green. I have to chop it all basically to a very short pixie. I never cried to my hair like i did at this time.
Oh gosh! That’s horrible!
kinda off topic but if that’s you in ur dp u are soo pretty gosh,, you do look good w that hairstyle too
Wouldn’t a straight hair perm be a relaxer?
@@MariTiyana probably.
Are you Brazilian? I lot of my Brazilian friends have similar problems when they move out of the country.
Taylor Swift’s 2009 curls were clearly from a curling iron lmao 😂
Lmao
What’s up with the rude comments about the first person‘s hair? I don’t see anything wrong with it! Just because they probably couldn’t pull off a look like that doesn’t mean they should be a d!ck
Because it's the internet.
I personally don't like it but it's not my head! To each their own.
Thank you! Why do people feel so compelled to say rude things on the internet? Is it because they don’t have the guts to say these things in real life and just need to let out all their hate on a random stranger who won’t go off on them?
Brandi Munguia exactly! these ppl would never say anything in person but it’s so easy to online🤦🏼♀️ but you know the moment someone says something similar to them they’d freak out
krystal floods or about their favorite UA-camrs, celebrities, musicians, etc.
She also said her friend blew her hair dry... heat should not be used after a perm😭
Sooo many things were wrong with that process, most of all it’s important that perms be done on VIRGIN hair 🤦♀️
@@elizabethgatsby3442 I agree. It is only okay if the perming solution is SPECIFICALLY for color treated or processed hair😊
I've dyed my own hair for years now and the only issue i ever had was the colour completely rinsing out once on the first wash.
Same, it happened with a bright red colour and it washed out into a nasty yellow even though I had really pale blond hair before, shits annoying ✋😔
@@mileszzz4493 have you guys ever tried manic panic? mine stayed on all summer, and I went swimming with it a lot
manic panic!!!!!
I used to home dye too. I gave it up because i have really dense, straight blond hair going white, it didn't matter how much i divided it i couldn't make the ink go into every part of my hair. I had white patches everywhere.
Yeah same That has happened to me once
I just got my hair "professionally" dyed for the first time a couple weeks ago. All I wanted was some natural Auburn highlight. I spent 7 hours in a salon chair because half way through doing my "highlights" she realized that she messed up and had to rinse my hair asap and start over again with wet hair. She had literally just dyed my whole head instead of giving me highlights and to make things worse when I got home I noticed she had left bleach in my hair from not rinsing it all out. So now I have a huge blonde patch in my hair.
Omg go back and demand a refund

“She is gonna love it” my Mom and the lady just smiled and we walked out, my Mom was pissed

2. My hair was too short
We never came back...

The only time I’ve had hair dye fails were when I’ve gotten it professionally done to get fun colors (teals, blues, reds, etc) So I just stick with doing it myself now.

I really hope the last girl sued that hair salon for causing 3rd degree scalp burn and all the costs and emotional turmoil that came along with it.
The color turned out beautiful tho 😂
For the next few days the blisters were like popping and puss was coming out but they eventually healed without any further complications.
I would literally cry right there in the chair. If you don’t like your hair speak up loves. ❤️
It’s not easy to speak up if you have anxiety or are very non-confrontational. I have received a lot of bad services in my life and it is more terrifying for me to speak up than to just live with the results.
It's not that I don't like my hair, I'm just not really emotionally attached to it. It's not like a scar where the skin will never be the same, hair just grows back.

something similar to the last girl happened to me after i bleached my hair to go blonde and i'm still traumatized to this day (it's been over 7 years)-- got a third degree burn and the hair came off which created a bald spot for which i had to get surgery to reduce the size of it since sadly, hair won't grow back :( i still have the bald spot sadly
She looks like narcissa malfoy omg i love it
ultra hair horror story: i got a under cut during the summer and i absolutely loved it and my mom had both side undercut and back undercut so as my hair is unreasonable thick i got all 3. i went to an all women salon that didn’t have a lot of experience with men’s styles so i went in there wanting to get the other side and back undercut. the lady that was doing my hair said it was symmetrical to the other side but one side was was 3/4 of an inch higher and the back was not straight. i cried because me and my mom knew it was going to take a long time to grow out. we had to go to a very expensive salon and spent 2 hours there. bless my hair dresser she spent so long working out a shave design to lose as minimal hair as possible because if u had just tried to match the other side i would’ve have 3 inches of hair and 2 years later it finally matches length with the rest of my hair
Notice they all still have dyed hair lol my hair is currently fried I was a natural blonde and impulsively died my hair pink it kept fading I kept dying it needless to say now it's orange and won't hold any color idk what happened I miss my natural hair
You totally fried your hair and likely burnt off the cuticle. What brand of color did you use
What dye did you use??? 😰
If you wanna dye fun colors in the future with your virgin hair use stuff like arctic fox or manic panic, pulp riot ,overtone, the non damaging dyes
All you can do is cut it, let it grow out. A friend fried my waist length hair. I ended up with a pixie cut.
For the last woman:
I am so sorry that you went through that experience. I am a stylist and it is my firm opinion that the salon should have taken responsibility.
3 things could have happened here:
40 minutes under a dryer with lightener 😭😭
Probably bumpin that 40 vol developer too lol
Am I the only one who thinks the second person kinda looks like Pharrell?
Yes
Yes
Yes
They honestly probably didn’t wash out all of the bleach in the last woman’s hair. The salon’s response was unacceptable

Ahhhh, they upload this video 3 days before i’m scheduled to get my hair balayaged with ombré and babylights.

@@kelsey2333 well done.
Andrea 4989 that’s incredibly rude of you to say. Also, you must not follow pop culture trends because her hair color/style is very trendy right now.
@@rabiafaruqi954 I definitely never want blue hair again, but thanks, I prefer pink and red
Later that day, I rushed to the salon supply store to fix the disastrous hair color I have, I wear beanie hat of course... that even makes my humiliation worse 😒
Its still a mystery to me on how that happened to this day
Oh it's happened to me in the past! (Its also why my ends fade faster than my roots)
Because your hair was bleached to such a high level, depending on how fast it was raised, your hair couldnt take pigment.
Meanwhile I kept trying to get cotton candy pink to no avail :
She knew the hairdresser doing her hair - it was a co-worker, she'd seen what her co-worker had done.
Third degree burn on the scalp 👁👄👁
I just dyed my hair pink/red.
*buzzfeed knows*
Hahaha
@@dunnotck1 Οh my! One time I took a nap

Do someone know the instagram or something of Jess? she is gorgeous!
No sorry
YES I met her at Premiere Orlando when I was looking for new nail products and she was working with Kupa. Her insta is @omg_jess
@@triplelootz awesome! ty
I've gotten my entire hair bleached twice, got chemical burns on my scalp both times. Burns with pus and eventually scabs.
Don't know why i even did that the second time.
How could her hair salon deny it having anything to do with the dye. They should definitely admit and compensate for not intervening.
that second guy’s eyebrows and lips barely moved when he spoke
All of the people have such beautiful hair now tho!
My hair was so long and beautiful before but I had to cut my hair up SO short to disguise the chunks of hair that snapped off :( It’s been 5 months now and I’m patiently waiting for it to grow back 😭.
is it growing or not?
The second person was so nice
Bleach AND heat??? 😰😰 (6:05)
"Hair Dye Horror Stories"
1st story: Perm
I've had highlights but that's it
Ryannnn I loved your cheetah head !!!
Thank you Mahaliaaaa 😭🖤😂
I had an allergic reaction to hair die. My face and ears puffed up and itched like CRAZY!
I'm bleached and dye my hair recently, when hair stylish put the colour cream on my scalp it feel like poking my scalp 😢😢😢😢😢😢.everyone compliment my ash grey hair but they never know what i been through 😂😂😂😂

“Everything looks great! Thanks so much! I’ll see you later! “☺️
He looks like Disney Hades with the blue flames for hair. That, or like he put toothpaste in his hair.
perms are incredible hard to do learned that from brad mondo he needs to come to fix it
here’s a recommendation for some ppl in the comments! if your gonna dye your hair at home one, don’t use splat! splat fades rather fast for most people and i’ve personally experienced it making my hair brittle. two , use a highlighter instead of bleach!! obviously don’t use the highlighting cap , just put it on the same you would do bleach and boom! light hair !! it’s worked for a ton of my friends and it doesn’t kill your hair like bleach. also all the good dyes are at sally’s and hot topic tbh.
It was very evident why the first lady's perm didn't work out
Because isn't it the first rule of perm that-
If you tell me this is a copied comment, just stop, I didn't see anyone say it.
Ryan's mom is the real deal, crying for her son's hair loss I love her (like a parent)
Rebecca!!
(She always asks if I’m still mad at her)
I can't get myself to say anything even if I pay, I don't wanna make the hairdresser feel bad but I'm crying and screaming internally.
Love the first girls energy🤍
Girl just throw the whole salon away 😌
I loved dyeing my hair. It was pink and so pretty. You just have to be careful when you use bleach.
Ryan is adorable :o does he have Instagram?
@@forcex4 thank you 😊
I went and got my hair professional dyed for the first time for my 18th birthday.(yes years of box dye is initially what killed my hair, the pro bleach is what finished it off) I got a balayage from black to blonde.
My mom told the barber to get a F***ing bob cut , I literal BOB CUT
It sucked
Years ago I went in to go platinum and my stylist decided to put this temporary purple color over it that lasted a whole week in order to tone my hair but idk if that was necessary. I was NOT feeling like I rocked the purple. I refuse to go purple to this day
