Thank you for a great video. I am learning new ways of preserving. I was wondering, with pressure caning the garlic, why does it need 40 min? Thank you!
Glad you enjoyed the video! Because garlic is a root vegetable, to preserve it safely for long term storage it needs to be 40 minutes. Hope that helps!
Great video…as always. I purchased a three pound bag of peeled garlic and then pickled them in half pints. I need to try roasting some first. Thanks for sharing your recipe!! ❤ Just one question….even if the jar is submerged in water it is still processed under pressure right?
Glad you enjoyed the video! I LOVE pickled garlic too. When pressure canning, jars shouldn’t be submerged in water, that’s why I put a glass bowl in the bottom and the rack ontop of it. Hope that helps 😊
OMGOODNESS I'm Definitely going to do this Chelsea... do you think I could add a little crushed red pepper to some of the jars just for a little kick??😁😁😁🤗
@@Our_Urban_Homestead😊😊😊I'm back and this might be a record. If u can figure out what to put in the canned yo raise the jar level, this will be a year 1 cause, well , it's #chelseaapproved and I trust that!❤
You could- but that would be a water bath method. Basically pickled garlic. It would not spread like the pressure canned and have a different flavor completely 😊
My husband and I absolutely loved the way this turned out. And it does make the best garlic bread. Thanks for this video!!!!!!
You are so welcome! Glad you liked it!!
My husband loves garlic bread and I like rebel canning~ so it’s a win-win for both of us! 😅 Thanks👍
You are so welcome! It’s AMAZING!

You’re welcome Debra! Glad to help, happy canning !!
Can't wait to try this to make garlic bread!

@@Our_Urban_Homestead Thank you for getting back to me so quickly. I'm going to give it a try.
Nice video. We have the same canner 😊. How long did you can it for?
Thanks! 40 minutes 😊
@@Our_Urban_Homestead ok.Thank you
Can or have you ever put onion powder in it also? Or butter?
I never have, but since they are in such small jars I would just add it to the butter later. It makes for an excellent garlic bread spread

@@Our_Urban_Homestead good morning
Thank you
You’re very welcome ☺️
That looks super yummy ❤
How long do the jars store for?
@@LeeAnstead until you use them 😊
Ok THIS is AWESOME! I’m so doing this!! When you say it makes a paste, do you mix in the water or take them out/drain??
I drain them 😊
Would this canned garlic work in pasta sauce? I make homemade canned spaghetti sauce.
Absolutely!!
😍 I'll be back😊
Is this on the 3 year plan?? 🤣🤣
Ya know I’m just teasing you- but as a long time follower and listener- yes, I called you out 🤣💗 Blessings friend!!

Could you use vinegar?
You could- but that would be a water bath method. Basically pickled garlic. It would not spread like the pressure canned and have a different flavor completely 😊
How long does it last once you open a jar?
I use the 1/4 pints for a single recipe. You could also do 1/2 pints and just keep the rest in the fridge for up to 4 weeks 😊
Do you have to add the salt??
No ma’am!
My garlic is a little bit green. Is it still OK to can it dehydrate?
Is it still in bulb form??
No. The tips of the cloves are a bit green. Maybe not ripe?
Does your garlic turn green?
@@bonbon6942 not at all. It will turn green or blue if it’s pickled. This is just in water and pressure canned 😃
Yum 🎉❤
You know it!
