That's so beautiful! It totally touched my heart💖 I knew there was an Eastern saint called Nina, but knew nothing about her. What power & goodness God revealed thru her faith!
its so sad to me how the protestants gutted christianity and stripped it down to its bare bones so that people in the west know little to nothing of orthodoxy or its great traditions and saints. It seems to me that in times past christian nations had great role models and saints to pattern their lives after. They had living saints and elders so the people could see what holiness looks like. But now all of that has been taken away from the people. Everything has become modernized and trivialized. Blind men lead other blind men and they all fall in the ditch. Evangelicalism preaches Christ without teaching holiness,,,they bestow head knowledge without modeling righteousness,,,,, so many understand the Greek and the Hebrew and they know many things about the bible and the time Christ lived but they know nothing of holiness. Its as if they have turned the faith into nothing more than a cerebral head knowledge,,,since we have a limited head knowledge and sparse prayer lives we have little power from on high that would empower us to fully obey the LORD. its as if someone found a bible on the street and picked it up without having any tradition at all,,,it just fell from the sky and we were charged with developing our own way,,, thats evangelicalism,,,it rips christianity from its context and throws out 1600 years of tradition,,,,Im seeking to become orthodox. I have come to the realization that whatever protestantism once was in the days of the puritans it is no longer ,,,there are a few protestant groups who have holiness the Amish and Mennonite have been left untouched by the world but the rest have floundered and they are filled with the spirit of compromise and mediocrity. Let me become orthodox oh LORD for I have no father, no earthly governor who knows the ways of God and therefore I have never learned discipline and order in my life. Jesus started a church for our benefit ,,,for our guidance,,,he didn't leave us orphans,,,when a group cuts itself off from that orthodox church its a recipe for disaster. Sure some communities can flourish when there is strong leadership and the people are sheltered from the world but this is rare,,,I once heard a parable,,, a man said you might be able to float on a large piece of drift wood and survive the flood of Noah but wouldn't you rather be safe and sound inside the ship God built? I also know that a small child left in the forest will most likely be eaten by wolves when it gets dark. I long for Christian community ,,, I long to be held accountable to be able to confess my sin, I long for holiness ,,,I thirst for righteousness. Oh God let me find an orthodox community so I can learn their ways. The protestants will have to answer to God for depriving millions of people of the ancient paths and for leading them to ignorance and destruction. In their pride they robbed the people of all the ancient traditions and then they did not shepherd them properly. May God help us all. I live in Baltimore County Rosedale Area if you can recommend a church please help. I want to convert to orthodoxy and I am very interested in the monastic life.
