I remember this station very well. It was easy to pick up from the U.K. Radio Caroline was my favourite, still is, but it was always sad to hear of any of these ship borne stations closing down. You’re still missed Radio Nordzee/RNI.

The station was called Radio Nordsee International.

Yes it was, simply because that's the German interpretation of the name. Radio Noordzee was the Dutch name and Radio Northsea is the English name. They're all the same. The Swiss (German speaking) owners wanted it to be a truly international station. One of the best pirates.

It's what was painted on the side of the Mebo II, as well as how the station was identified on the QSL Card I received when I sent a reception report and on the poster I had on my wall.

I still have a poster of the multi coloured Mebo two posted to me from Zurich with a souvenir brochure. A wonderful aerial view, surrounded by the blue seas of the North Sea. The original idea had been to broadcast off Germany, but they introduced laws banning it.

Radio Northsea international and Laser 558 the best offshore radio stations in 74 RNI should have moved back to the English coast which Radio Caroline did
