Volume 9 is in the books and WOW…what a finale. I can’t believe 10 weeks flew by that fast! But this is definitely in my top three favorite volumes of the show!
They did their thing!
I don’t know what more needs to be said at this point but wow… Volume 10 is somewhere along the horizon, and hopefully sometime this year.
In the meantime, there are some videos I would like to react to, and I’m pretty excited for them. Also, the merch is being finalized and I can’t wait to start production on that.

Ruby's message to Remnant in vol 8 that she convinced herself changed nothing... actually changed everything.
Absolutely everything. The remnants of the Atlas military, including parts of its vaunted air fleet, managed to escape, and link up with the rest of Remnant at Vacuo. Humanity is making its final stand, and it's all because Ruby made her speech from the stars.

I personally think that Little and then Somewhat is the reincarnation of penny. If you listen, the way that Somewhat says "I am at your service" to Jaune is just like how Penny says "I am combat ready!". The first time I watched this episode i picked up on the way Somewhat said it instantly but i haven't seen anyone else mention it
Not only was the Atlas Air Fleet there on the left, but on the right you can see Mistral Ships and in the middle are the giant airships from Vale that we see in the very first episode of Volume 1!!
Not to mention that Amity Colosseum is in the back, seemingly turned into a giant battle cruiser of sorts

That scene with Roman and Neo is so sweet to me. I know that a lot of people don't like her because of what she did to Ruby and Little but the fact of how when she finally reached acceptance over Roman's death, she ascended with a smile on her face.
This scene is also awesome because these are propably the last lines Billy Kametz (the VA who took over from the original actor) recorded before his demise by cancer.😢

I love how in the end, Ruby didn’t hate Neo, but felt sympathy and empathy with her since she understood a little with what she was going through and in the end, wished her luck in finding herself again😊❤

The white streaks in Jaune’s hair remained to show his time in the Ever After, I’m glad they kept that
I do like how Summer clearly has no time for Raven's Raveness and she looks properly scolded. She still knows who's the boss around here.

I just realized that wasn't only meant for Little/somewhat...but Penny as well.
Ruby simply showed kindness by calling her "friend", and it lead Penny down a path that eventually turned her into the Protector of Mantle, the Winter Maiden, a Real Girl, and the one who would save Atlas' people by giving the Winter Maiden powers to Winter Schnee willingly.
Damn you CRWBY why are you guys so damn clever!?!?

A finale where the chair may actually survive.
Summer shoulder checked Raven just like Yang did at the end of V5. Like mother like daughter. So much of Raven’s interactions in V5 now have an extra layer to them. Love it.
The moment I heard the tune from the first Red Like Roses start as Ruby was coming back I got full body chills. The animation when she comes back, the lighting, the callback to her trailer with her cape in the wind! How dare!
And seeing Team RWBY whole and fighting together again?! The emotional catharsis!
I cried during the meeting with Somewhat. They were truly special and I’m sad to see them go.
I really like this ending for Neo. No one really forgave her but she gets to work through her issues now at her own pace. And it leaves room for her to come back in the future to help kick Cinder’s butt. Also love that she leaves the show (for now) how she entered it: With a bow.

I don’t know how I feel about Jaune being young again. Still has his memories of course but… I don’t know.
Subtle detail but when Yang notices Ruby lagging behind, she doesn’t ask if she’s okay like she had previously earlier in the volume, she asks “what’s wrong?” And Ruby actually tells her. It’s such a slight difference but I really like that.
This volume was everything I wanted. Crwby really knocked it out of the park. The animation, the lighting, the voice acting, the storytelling… all of it was amazing. I love this show so much. I can’t wait to see what they have in store for V10 and beyond.

remember back when Raven and Yang were talking in the volume 5 finale, and Yang shoulder checked her as she walked past? and then after Raven uncharacteristically started crying and broke down, saying "i'm sorry"
*the scene in the beginning with summer and her brings that into context imo*
Summer shoulder checks her as well, right before something terrible happens that sets Raven on the path she's been on since, reinforcing the worst aspects of her personality

At the time of writing this comment, RWBY's future is somewhat (heh) up in the air, as Volume 10 hasn't been officially greenlit yet.
If the show was to be, arceus forbid, cancelled, that final shot is not a bad note to go out on.
I dont wanna jynx it, but considering that RT suffered the loss of that many from their animation team, then even if its greenlit, we will have to wait.
Okay well the good news CRWBY itself wasn't involved in a lot of the drama that went down at RT so it's not likely the show would be cancelled. It's even less likely given RWBY is like their flagship product right now with by far the most views and $ being made off it so cancelling it would likely only happen if the entire company went belly up.

this is so beautiful.... Ruby realizing she doesn't want to be anyone else.... that she wants to be herself but it just became too much to bare for her, taking on so much for so long.... She is for sure back and better than ever.. She will go back and kick ass in remnant... Salem better watch tf out to be completely honest.
Also the fact that the cat was a good creature before his heart broke because of Alix wanting to stay and not taking him with her.... It's actually sad. Neo killed the jabberwocker and his counterpart, the curious cat.... I wonder if things are even in the ever after again? The tree is back to being the thing that creates and takes away...
Thats the lesson she had to learn.
Especially since the fall of Beacon she tried to be someone or something else.
A hero like in the stories or be like her mother.

I love how after Ruby comes back, how expressive and how overall better she seems to feel, but also Jaun,Weiss,Blake and Yang having a hard time against the bigger cat and then Ruby comes along and just has no chill and just bodys the cat, Rubes with her mind back to normal and the understanding that she is enough, is a beast
I love it how before Ruby popped off, the rest of the gang had some trouble taking the cat down. But when Ruby came back, the synergy was back and it came back strong.
The way I got chills and instant tearing up when the red like roses part 3 scene started 😭 this show means so damn much to me and Ruby’s arc in this season in particular resonated with me on such a deep level. I don’t wanna dump a bunch but all I’ll say is that I can relate to Ruby’s struggles with the internal battles that the concept of ascension poses, both their initial misunderstanding of it (that it’s death) and the actual meaning (that it’s actually just changing).
When she wanted to ascend thinking that it would mean her death, that’s her becoming suicidal. When she wanted to ascend knowing it would mean she becomes someone else, that’s her thinking she’s not good enough/that she only makes things worse. I can relate to both issues, but in the end she chooses both to keep living, and to do so as own true self. Two choices I myself have had to make, and thanks to this season, I know I can make those choices again when I need to.
My favorite Monty Oum Quote:

This quote means a lot to me as a writer and artist, but I think it applies to day to day life too. I think it’s easy to forget the major affects we and our memory can have on the people around us. Which is basically one of the main themes of this volume, as seen in Little and Ruby’s relationship. My greatest wish is that one day, I can inspire people like Monty did-like Monty still does.
This season really felt like a love letter to Monty, to the community, and to the show itself. A lot of it went over people’s heads IMO, which is sad, but this is one to those seasons where you need to watch it more than once to really GET it, or at least I know I had to. God. This season was amazing.
Mybe isn't much, but you already inspired me with your comment.
Another point of view can change a lot of things and you just give me other things to think about.

I said this on another reaction to the finale, but these guys needed this journey. They all had their own doubts and insecurities and lack of self worth in one form or another. So taking them away from all the fighting, the relics, the war against Salem, forced them to come to terms with a lot of things in their lives and give themselves some small measure of closure and acceptance.
Jaune learned that he can't save everyone, but that doesnt make him any less of a Hunter and a hero as anyone in history. Black and Yang learned that the feelings they had buried didnt need to be, and that they could lean on each other when they needed the strength of another. Weiss focused herself against the preconception of her illusion; she doesnt need to hide who she is, and doesnt need anyone besides herself to define her story.
And finally Ruby, the youngest of them all, who has had doubt of her capabilities as a Huntress and a leader since the start of the show. She figured out that she doesnt need to be the strongest of them all, that she doesnt need to be or act like others, but instead embrace who she is and make her own way, like others have before her.
Now they are back on Remnant, stronger and more resolved than when they left, and ready to get back into the fight.

The part that gets me emotional and pure with happiness is that Casey just goes out with the amazing comeback of the volume 1 music themes at the end. I love her work she done with the whole volume. But Red Like Roses and This Will Be The Day. I'm loving the part and the remix of both songs. I'm JUST Soo Happy. 😭☺😌😂 Happy tears everyone, happy tears😭😭😭😭😭😭🤣
That ending shot I love it so much. Not only showing ships from every kingdom to show everybody's come together in Vacuo, we're really gonna have the whole gang together, all the gangs. But also the first thing Ruby sees coming back is that she did have a positive effect on the world, her message brought everyone together in Vacuo. It wasn't all for nothing. The most feel good ending we've had in a long time. And as for the Atlas ships it's probably just the few surviving remnants of the Atlas air fleet.
I NEED VOL 10 NOW!!!! Ohhhh man, when the team meets Little, or Somewhat, I tear up every time. Ruby’s emblem returned, this time made of a stronger material, a stronger promise: that she is loved just the way she is. And I love that they kept the light streaks in Jaune’s hair! Proof of his experience in the Ever After, and the life maturity he now has. And yes! It looks like Ruby’s message to the world truly did make a change… even Amity Colosseum with the new CCT Tower is there!
I can’t wait to see the rest of JNPR, Oscar, Qrow, Maria, and Winter be reunited with them! ❤

On the subject of Neo; NEVER think of someone as a lost cause. NO ONE is beyond redemption. Some of us have endured wounds that reach to our souls, and fueled choices that can often be judged despicable. But remember that the person you now call vial, despicable, unredeemable = disposable, was once an innocent child that at some point in their life suffered a trauma that sent them down the darkest of paths because it appeared at the time to be only path to the light. For these people we need to not condemn them, but find a way to bind their wounds and heal them. This is a truth that I know far too well. I've been there, and many people still call me disposable.
Well, if we talk realism, there are people beyond redemption, through normal means at least. By that I mean there are people that need medication to help them or sometimes they have conditions that even medication can't help.
I do agree for the most part but i believe it does get to a point where someone is irredeemable. like the joker for example, there's nothing that can redeem all that he's done. and in the case of RWBY, in my eyes Cinder is irredeemable. she has hurt and killed sooo many people and even tho she didn't do it herself she was the cause of Penny's death and that was the absolute last straw for me. I kinda feel the same about Neo cause she was an extreme pain in the ass for so long but her story as far as we can tell, was wrapped up nicely. for a while i thought emerald was irredeemable but after getting to her switching sides and multiple watches i think she will redeem herself, she was such a nuisance for a long time but her internal struggle and eventual switching of sides was very well done. and her power is VERY useful.

i just finished rewatching the whole series again for the, who knows how many-th time (specifically the rewatch and volume 9) i just love this series. this rewatch specifically made me appreciate the score and little details in the back way more (like how jaune wipes a single tear from his eye after seeing somewhat and juniper ride away). i cannot describe just how much rwby has impacted me and seeing your journey through it again was great (somewhat meeting rwby and the conversation between penny and winter still get me even now). hearing your reaches, no matter how out there they were, really put me back into the same mindset i was in when watching episodes daily, with how we'd theorize and analyze everything about the most recent episode. also if volume 10 never happens: this volume had such a good ending for it with this will be the day and red like roses part 3 making the show come full circle, but i could go on and on about this show. thank you darklight dreamer for introducing this to ghoxt, thank you ghoxt, and thank you crwby

This episode was great, I was worried how they were going to do the ascension of Ruby, but i think they handled it well without making her pick a weapon and by GOD when she came back and fought the cat it REALLY felt like the old times, that animation was GAS

Ive been a fan of RWBY since the tail end of vol 2, and i was hooked. The red trailer just... stole my soul. This show has evolved so damn much in a beautiful way and im always happy to see someone new join the FNDM, as dysfunctional we are, but theres something special about you.
Your editing, your humour, your emergy all bring something beautiful and new to the table. I used discovering you as an excuse to rewatch the whole series and... holy fuck man. You got me hype as hell as tho it was my first time around this block, and i love how you always get straight to the point, youre intros are never more than a few mins long, and thats something thats appreciated. I cant tell you how many other reactors ive seen that spend a whole damn half hour rambling about whatever before actually getting to the damn episode.

And yes, the hiatus sucks. But, we can look at just how absolutely amazing vol 9 came out. Every other volume had its moments sure (vol 6-8 specifically) but 9... was something else. If waiting a damn good time (like the 2-3 years between vol 8 and 9) means they put out another banger like 9 was.. I welcome it.

First, welcome to the hiatus. It truly brings out some of the most cursed & hilarious content from the FNDM while we go insane waiting. Second, this was definitely a contender for my favorite Volume and one of my favorite finales. The final message at the end of Ruby's arc is beautiful & inspiring, Neo gets a nice sendoff that still leaves the possibility of coming back, the lore info about the Ever After and the Brothers puts events in a different perspective, and while all the fights in this Volume were great, the final battle is probably one of my favorite fights in the whole show. It's truly remarkable and CRWBY deserve so much praise for their hard work. I desperately want Volume 10 but I'm willing to wait if it means more quality content like this. Great reaction as always!

You've made a bad day better so many different times with your videos, and I'm sure other people can say the same. I know I ain't a patron, but I do have a suggestion, if you know anything about the FNAF universe or enjoy it and also love a well crafted original song, id love to see you react to "Unbroken" by Man on the Internet". Dude Jaune has the hits trauma hair now!!!! I really hope they don’t just have Jaune move in from all that, cause that was LONG SUFFERING trauma right there.
As everyone else in the comments said. Ruby herself thinks she changed nothing and did more harm than good. When in reality, that message in volume 8 before the tower fell, brought everyone in the world together to try to stop Salem in Vacuo. That’s why their is atlas, vale and Mistral ships along with a new and improved amnity coliseum, which I believe you can see also has a MASSIVE cannon on the top. Which as you guessed. Time passes when way faster in remnant than in the EA
that shoulder bump summer did is VERY reminiscent of the one Yang did at the end of volume 5, so it must have hit raven really hard when Yang did that
I don't know if anyone mentioned it during the premiere, but many have brought to my attention that Little/Somewhat ascended and resembled Ruby in their new form. The tuffs of hair + the belt + the cape = Ruby of the ever after.

I’m kind of glad Summer had her own issues, and although it hurts that she and Raven kept so much hidden it makes their characters that much more human

I seriously dngaf ant what people don’t like about newer rwby volumes, I think crwby did an amazing job and still kept Monty’s touch to the story. They pulled off such a nice theme in a genuine way and somehow were able to comfortably settle and pace that ending in ONE EPISODE which is INSANE to me.
Red like roses and this will be the day making my vision get blurry and my emotions time travel in this episode 🥹

I loved this volume! So much emotion! I loved that this volume was about Ruby and just self acceptance. Thinking you are worthy and being yourself all hit home. I cried so many times from little becoming somewhat, Ruby choosing herself, and Jaune getting his youth back (but keeping the white streaks as a reminder of his personal growth)
I honestly think that Jaune’s vision of Alyx is a memory of a conversation he had with her when both of them ascended and both of them made a deal with the tree
I don't comment often, but special mention is needed. I have watched every big reactor watch this show and have gone through my share of the smaller ones. None come close to your content. The only reactor that I looked forward to more than the show itself, I would look forward to Friday's because I got to watch you as I ate my dinner :P You are funny, kind, and so so passionate about the stuff you make.

Something to make note of: all the figurines on the Blacksmith's workspace have been beings that have appeared in Ever After. one of them is what looks like a hunk of raw crystal; a crystal the same color as Neo's Semblance.

I know the Cat was the villain in the end, but honestly, I feel sorry for him. Having the purpose to mend others’ broken hearts to not his own. It was comforting to know that the Cat wasn’t always evil.

this volume definately restored alot of peoples faith in humanity . you know what would be cool? if for the final season of rwby they have a competition for available slots for peoples character ocs to turn up in the show . and fight in whatever final battle is coming . whole avengers endgame thing .
ironically if he hadnt de-aged Jaune wouldve been just the right age for either Winter or Willow Schnee.(depending HOW old the clock made him.) I wonder if they ever confirm his Rusted Knight age in any interviews?
I think the prevailing theory is that Lewis has passed away from old age already
Given that Alyx and Lewis are names that aren’t based off of colours, the theory is that they fell into the Ever After BEFORE the Great War, which is said to have taken place over 80 years ago
So taking time into account, that would give Lewis enough time to return to Remnant, write The Girl Who Fell Through The World (as he’s based off of Alice In Wonderland’s Author), and let that story become a favourite of children for years and years until basically everyone knew it by heart
The counterargument to that is Jaune. He's lived through the time between Lewis returning until now, and hasn't died of old age.
This doesn't necessarily prove anything, since time flow could be a bit different between the two worlds (as evidenced by it looks like a lot more time has passed in Remnant since they've been gone), although it's unclear whether that's a natural time difference or just the blacksmith sending them back to a specific moment.
Added to that, since death works differently in the EA, it's possible Jaune was there for more than a lifetime. He did age, but maybe only because he thought he should.
I actually recently rewatched vol 1-8 again too, and gotta say 9 was absolutely amazing. I was SO hype to see Ruby stay herself. That was just a beautiful message.

I just realized, Neo’s sleeves were ripped when the Curious Cat turned her arms into claws, but her sleeves regenerated right after the Curious Cat got out

It annoy me that people think Ruby didn't learn her lessons from v7 and v8. But literally this volume themes basically touched each of those things. She made a choice that saved a bit more people than iron woods plan, and at the end of volume 9 Ruby message at the end brought all of remnant together, Ironwoods plan wouldn't do that. They also act like Ruby didn't go through stuff to justify how she acts this volume.
