I personally don't have a problem with these knockoffs. As long as you know it's not the real thing I feel like it's fine. I can't afford to spend $100 on a name brand tool at the moment and these knockoffs allow me to have functional multitool. You get what you pay for. I'm fine with that.
Another way to tell is look at knife blade the cut out for your finger nail will be on the inside where it is can not be used because the other tools block it.
Those torque bits holding the implements looks a bit off compared to the real thing. Just ordered a MP 400. Trying to figure out how to replace the knife with a saw or file if anyone has any ideas.
I get mine today, fine... Very similar to My 600, but no Gerber Marks, maybe Not te Best but works inclusive better tha some cheap makes, i test in work today and everything ok
@@hvacbudget8600 I’m kind of sad to see them being discontinued. I personally don’t have much use for the specialized tools, but they have a certain cool factor about them. I hope Gerber releases an updated version rather just discontinuing it completely.
I've been curious about these, not a lot of reviews available. The core design of the MP600 is hard to mess up, so I can see myself using it as a modding platform, maybe replacing a few of the tools with actual Gerber ones for better durability. The plastic unlock tabs look pretty similar to those on most MP600s, the sight tool model just has unusual tabs. But I doubt they're using the same quality of plastic as Gerber.
I have read somewhere that the inside tools are different sizes than the original. But they look the same. I would like to swap in a metal saw where that huge spacer is so maybe one day I'll see if they are interchangeable sizes
I was getting confused looking at the tabs as the ones on the cheap knockoff look like the ones on my Gerber MP600 bladeless, which although genuine I am disappointed that it was made in Taiwan not the USA, but better than made in the PRC I suppose.
@@simonh6371 That's my favorite MP600 model, it's served me well so far, nothing broken. The blades on other MP600s are so high up on the tool when you open them, makes them difficult to use effectively. Having a U-shank jigsaw blade holder and a nice pair of Fiskars made scissors is much better, I can just carry a separate knife.
It’s only the ST model that has those clips. All other MP600 models have the same as the cheaper tool. I’m also a fan of the bladeless version. Living in the UK we have strict knife laws making it difficult to carry.
There is a really close imitation suspension NXT on Amazon right now as well. Not sure what companies can do about it but I think many people have heard about this fake for several years now. I was just expecting it to be much worse. It's definitely not as Good as Gerber but it's too close!
The Chinese are doing the same thing with Leatherman when the patent runs out they are in warehouse in the USA waiting for them to able to sell them. It’s just multi tools but medications electronics furniture they are buying up farmland not to grow anything but to keep the USA from growing on it GM cut a lot of car divisions guess who picked them up after GM let the patents runout how old American tool markers are all made in China.
You're comparing 2 different models. The copy of the gerber is spot on for the model its replicating. The locking tabs are supposed to be different. The fake is a replica of the EOD model. Its used for crimping blasting caps.
I actually looked at this a few times on ebay but never pulled the trigger cause I figured they're junk. I'm surprised they're not that bad but I didn't know they had the Gerber name on it so I'd have to pass now. Great vid as usual. Thanks 👍
I think some don't have the name. I did find the spacer in mine is slightly off center causing the tools to tilt slightly. But overall nothing has broken yet.
It is amazing. Even Benchmade knives are copied for a fraction of the price. There is always a danger of shutting down manufacturing in house across the country. Even companies that don't manufacture overseas are affected.
I just ordered it, and found this video 10 min later lol

Great way to view the matter!
My God in Heaven. I've had my $90 MP-600 for almost 24 years and never new that Philips part was a bit driver!!
Now you can get the adapter and have a full tool kit!

Nice! I've seen some that even come in gold!
As far as I can tell, the GerberGear US site no longer sells the MP600 DET, but the Gerber Gear UK site does still sell the MP600 DET🤷🏻♂️
Good info! Amazon still seems to have one or two.

@@EthanBlakeProductions I agree!
Don't know what that tool with the hole in it is called or what it does I noticed. I was watching to find that out. 🤔
Are you talking about the lanyard holder? Often multi tools have an attachment point to be used on a lanyard.

what is the spike tool for?
It is to make a hole in C4 for a blasting cap.
It often makes me wonder how Gerber feels… or what they think, or even do, about stuff like that? 🤷🏻♂️

Thanks for posting
I have been using this Gerber clone for over a year and it's been a reliable & useful tool.
Mine hasn't got the phony branding.
Very good to hear a long term update!! I like mine.
I had it costs $6 in Indonesia 😅
That's amazingly cheap!
Well, Buy one un a chinese store, no Marks, a monte working every day cuts wire, with no problem, feels like My Gerber 600

The fact that China are allowed to just ignore copyrights and produce things like this beggars belief.

I think on this case, it's the trade mark and possibly some patents that were violated.
The Leatherman tool bracelet is overload, and laughable. You don’t need that, bro. Sell it on eBay to a noob besides yourself 🤣
Don't be so hostile... That is also a Chinese knock off modded to work with the Casio Royale, perfect outfit for this Gerber "homage".
@austinlaudry8335 such a noob thing to say from someone like you
