The locals called it the 6 grandfathers for centuries, Translated around 1400 to 6 kings, or VI Kings. and later misread as Vikings. The point is, Who were the faces that were there.

Actually the reason Teddy Roosevelt is on Mount Rushmore, is because the sculpture, Gutzon Borglum, was friends with him.

No surprise that Roosevelt was buddies with Borglum, with both being racist PsOS. Those sculptures are desecrating a sacred mountain that was stolen from the Lakota. All 4 faces should be blown off that mountain, and the Black Hills should be returned to its rightful, legal owners of the land, the Lakota people.

It wasn't just something torn down, the carving is impressive, but can't touch the natural beauty and majesty of before. Look for yourself.. It was finished in 1941 , we should at least do like Germany and memorialize what happened. The mountain was amazing , and we did this, robbing our posterity and all humanity of it. Personal opinions aside. Commie? I'm a libertarian swing vote, who appreciates history my friend. This is the history of our great nation. "from their lips" even they don't have the right to destroy a natural wonder like that, and they wouldn't have.

@@markadkins8388 The Lakota weren’t even in the region of the Black Hills until the 1820’s. They have little actual claim to the Black Hills. There are records of their first contact with Europeans in the 1600s, being pushed west across the Appalachian during the Revolution War, and then finally reaching the plains in the 1800s. They conquered the land just like the United States conquered them.

George Washington was originally in a different spot. But the spot they chose, the rock became too soft and they had to blast him off and move him. The REAL reason there wasn't a fifth person put up there, is because the rest of the rock is far too soft to handle another face up there. The major part of the Black Hills are owned by the Sioux Indians. They are making on of Crazy Horse on his horse. It's not far from Mt. Rushmore and it's beautiful. It was briefly seen in this video, although it wasn't talked about. You used to donate any amount to get in, but I'm sure by now they have a set rate. The guy who Started Crazy Horse died decades ago, and his son took over the project. By now, it's most likey his Grandson, possibly his Great Grandson!! South Dakota is one of the most Beautiful States in the Union!!

    MOST IMPORTANT FACT:
Cougar Mountain /Six Grandfathers is a SACRED PLACE of The Lakota / The Great Sioux Nation, located in The Black Hills, South Dakota
The Treaty of Fort Laramie grants these lands to the Lakota (Sioux) in perpetuity.
1980 US SUPREME COURT ruled in favor of The Lakota / The Great Sioux Nation
The Lakota / The Great Sioux Nation never sought money & have never accepted the "Settlement money" (more than $1 Billion USD in 2011)

      Disgraceful
      DISGUSTING
This TRAITOR will soon be VOTED out of office.

( Sorry for slight grammar issues using Siri voice recognition lol )About the tunnel I can’t imagine they’re not being some thing in there I doubt there’s anything in the tunnel But I bet there’s another secret tunnel that the public is an allowed to know about the other real shits in. I mean if it was my life project holding the some of the most important papers n stuff in US history I want something a throw the enemy off the trail And what better way to act like it was unfinished so they look the other way when all joking aside there probably is a secret trap door somewhere that only certain people know about in the project might’ve actually been a success just a public thing so it’s not to refrain from looters of the enemy I can’t imagine what America would do it if we lost our constitution to an adversary so what better way then to act like the project was never finished and their isn’t nothing there but nostalgia and dirt. But that’s the whole Genius behind it create a whole story like it’s unfinished and a tunnel that looks good but the real tunnel is hidden away from the public and probably that there’s somewhere just we’re not allowed to have get in if we even do somehow find it or even get close to it. I mean if it was the man’s life mission I don’t see how he didn’t have contingencies living in a time of 2 world wars. Seems to be a very pretty common sense to do some thing to throw the enemy off the scent and have the real documents hidden somewhere else in the mountain so the public gets a nice little story n all that bs while all the documents are safe and secure for the blissfully unaware American people.
