    Hello mate, I have to thank you thousandfold for this upload, it saved my day! I needed to replace a tire on my e-scooter and got myself a good quality off road tire 100/65-6.5, which was quite stiff. I used pry bars to no avail, only scratched the rim. I then saw your video, God bless you :-), and used three bar clasps and a hot air gun to make the rubber more pliable also some dish washing liquid and it worked magic! Ps. I didn't detach the cable nor the disc. Thanks again

    Thanks mate! Mechanic tip, if it helps, after seating the bead and with low pressure in the tyre, roll it on the ground while pushing down on it to settle the tyre into place completely. That might help reduce any balance or out of round issues. I do this with tubed tyres on mtb wheels mainly to settle the tube.

    Thanks! Between this and the other videos I think I have a good chance at doing my EMOVE Cruiser without taking it in to the bike shop. I've got some big zip ties that are supposed to help get the same compression and a little tighter compression on the tire, so we'll see how that goes!

    I'll admit, with my first scooter, I used tire wrenches. Getting the tires off was easy, but getting the new ones on was somewhat difficult. If course, a big part of the reason was that the new tires were airless (but not 'solid') tires.
    With the new scooter (yes, the RR RS5 Max), and with the ulip tires (also recommended by you), I think I'll give this method a try...but, with one slight difference. Because of the gel layer along the entire inside of the tread area, I'm thinking that using the clamps might not be good...that it could 'damage' the gel layer. So, I'll just have to hope that the silicone spray is enough to get the job done.

    Great work. The tire strap I found is 4m long, it has a 1m long tensioner & a 4m strap. I mean, scooter tire circumference are like less than a meter, what would I do with the remaining 3m?

  • @FrameGame1
    @FrameGame1 Місяць тому +2

    Would you recommend that new tire vs the old one?

    • @Scooter-King.
      @Scooter-King.  Місяць тому +2

      Absolutely! The stock tires on the Solar P1 series are fairly common and are found on many other scooters as OEM tires. The tread is pretty thin, especially the side walls. The new dual tread ULIP tires are much thicker overall, more like a car tire and you can really tell the difference just by the weight.

    Great video. What is the width on those tires as I have 4 inch wide tires and seems that large wrench won't work to compress wider tires. What are the clamps you use and will they open 4 inches?

    • @Scooter-King.
      @Scooter-King.  6 місяців тому +1

      The clamps are just form home depo and open about 2 1/2 inches so I had to get a BIG set of channel locks from Harbor Freight to compress the 3 1/2 tire first. Its actually pretty easy to do if the channel locks are big enough.

  • @andrewwhite1065

    So far, how is your experience with the hybrid tires? Are they quiet on straight roads?

      Vert quiet, but still have enough tread on the side wall for light off road trails.

  • @ChrisHirner
    @ChrisHirner 5 місяців тому

    I line that tire balancing trick. I have a scoot with off road tires that would shimee hard at about 40 mph, I held the file to it where the road usually don't hit and sure enough in a few seconds it smoothed out nicely. No more wandering steering sensation at 40 mph

    Please help me!!!! I have a Hover 1 BOSS R500 I'm trying to find a replacement rear tire. It a solid rubber tire, do you know if there is a replacement? And if yes how do you replace it? I can't find out a whole lot of information about it. I'm brand new to e scooters and I'm really loving my scooter. The tire that's on it still has a lot of life left but I'd rather have a new one on if possible. Thank you and I subbed your channel

    • @Scooter-King.
      @Scooter-King.  2 місяці тому +1

      The issue on the Hover 1 BOSS R500 is actually the rims themselves. They look to be specifically designed for solid tires, so replacing them with tubeless tires is probably not possible.
      Good news is you won't have to worry about flats with these solid tires but, they are put on with a hydraulic press at the factory and can be quite difficult to change as they are originally stretch-pressed over the rims at the factory.
      The honeycomb tires won't have the lip (bead) that tubed /tubeless tires do that allow you to pry/push the bead over the rims.
      I would look for a scooter/ebike shop in your area and see if they offer a tire swap service for solid tires.

    By the way, WD 40 is bad for rubber, it drives it dry , then will worn off faster.
    Silicone grease or spray is better for rubber.

    Some nice tips there bro
    I reckon ya shud try a bit of rope
    Theres a few ways can be used
    But loop it round the wheel rim post the 2 ends inside tyre and fish em out other side separate them bout 5 cm or whatever then put foot on it and pull till the inner side bead can be levered with wide lever👍
    Just jump on it to get it on or use rope lol😂
    Ps dont go to fast may cause friction and kill rubber 😂😂

    What other types of lubricants or sprays would you recommend for the normal maintenance of the e-scooter, especially for those minor squeaks or creeks on the handlebars and suspension?

    • @Scooter-King.

      If its areas on metal that can't be seen (inside the stem, bolt joints, inside hinges) White lithium grease. Stays put and water deterrent.
      If its areas that contact rubber or are visible (shocks, bushings, ect ) then WD40 Specialist Silicone. Doesn't last as long but safe for rubber and most paint and also drives out water.
