The lesson I’m learning here is never let whoever configured the auto tune for Judgement in Infinite Wealth cook again, cause that person botched the first impression so hard considering the singing is actually pretty good for everything else (how fitting the voice itself is is another conversation to have)
Honestly, Yong did a great job. While his voice doesn't quite match Kiryu, I could easily get used to it. He was never going to match Kuroda, but overall, he's nailing the voice acting side (even if his voice isn't quite as deep or older sounding as you'd hope). The singing is pretty damn good at times considering he's not a vocalist. His voice is going to take getting used to, but I hope people give him credit where credit is due.
By any chance, could you upload the version of Like A Butterfly that plays if you select it without Akame present? Thought it sounded pretty good, which is an oddity for the "default" versions of cheering songs
In like a butterfly, why did he do Ichiban's yell for Kiryu near the end? Other than that its a similar situation to the karaoke songs in the other games. There's minor oddities and problems with each one. I think Honolulu city lights is still the best one in english so far.

Honestly fuck it dude i think yong was just having fun with doing the interjections I feel like the biggest criticism Yong has is that he's trying too hard to be someone he can't, so it's more fun to see the VA be natural and just fuck around with the role.
so now that the dust has finally settled and the dubhaters have move on to something else... those of us who remain can at least .. well, i dont want to say appreciate yongyea as kiryu. But he has done a serviceable job in the singing dept. It just so happened that the judgement one was pretty bad. But i actually pretty like his song for Baka Darou, Sayonara Silent Night and then Hands
Definitely better than the Infinite Wealth demo… still don’t like him as Kiryu (was really looking forward to Darryl returning), plus his little Twitter meltdown was really petty, even if there were people farming drama and acting in bad faith
Well, it's better than Judgement atleast, but still god awful, there's no singing there it's the equivalent to someone asking if you know a song and then speak/singing a few lines to jog your memory. Though, it'd be hard to get any sort of emotion from these localizations of the songs to begin with, but atleast put some effort into it, and yes, we can still hear the autotune. On the other hand, Akame's singing is perfectly serviceable, she's actually singing as best she can with the clunky lyrics.

@@minirazorback there is much less and it's a huge improvement over judgment, but there is still a lot and the performances are still not great, one of the worst offenders being the jingle bells line in sayanora silent night. They clearly didn't do retakes, which isn't Yong's fault obviously.
Baka Mitai - Probably the best one. It's an really easy song to sing, practically anybody can do it. Sayonara Silent Night - He butchered it. His autotune on the high notes makes hard on the ears. True Hearted Samurai - It's very similar to the original since the japanese one already has autotune. Hands- He's really out of tune. And listening YongYea for 3 minutes is a thing i would't do to my worst enemy. Tonight - The worst one. The chorus has high notes that he can't reach because he's trying to make a deep voice that he doesn't have naturally, so the autotune is a lot more noticible. He ruined this song. Like a Butterfly- Akane sound really good, though in the chorus she sings a bit out of rhythm, SoyBoy was doing fine but he tried the ''OH YEAAAAHHH'' that Ichiban does and that alone ruined the song.

Aside from Shirakaba, I haven’t heard Yong’s other roles but I’m sure he’s a good voice actor, he just isn’t the best choice for Kiryu.
