any idea what level license you need for this series? I've been doing mx-5 races for the first year and I'm feeling like I want to get into this series. Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated
@@mikemarchetta3145 This is actually a D Class series so anyone who got out of rookies can buy a GT4 car and race it here. I focused on the D Class touring car series last season and that was really fun too.
That was alot of fun to watch. I thought Mitchell had killed that guy but the replay showed what really happened. Mitchell was pushing hard to catch you in the end and seem to be overextending. But great race! I have found this season as well is killing my irating too...
The collisions happen when there's like a good 30 cm between the cars still. A bit crappy collision detection on the engine.
Much prefer the live races to the ai ones you do thanks great video.
Of all these sim-racers you play, which one is the 'best' to get into first, as a sim-rookie?
I'm more of an arcade to simcade racer. I only own a Logitech G25 (still) with a simple wheelstand and would like something that works with VR (Oculus Rift CV1 and PSVR).

I find it a little disappointing to see that all these realistic racing simulators completely drop the ball when it comes to 'point of view' dynamics. The PoV always looks silky smooth. Look at the most recent footage of helmet cams in F1 (for example) and you get a completely different picture, where you have to wonder how the drivers can even read their dash boards considering how violently the racing shakes them around in the cockpit. This near total absence of "camera" shake, for lack of a better word, is significantly diminishing the 'realism'.
This is simulating what the diver sees. Your eyes don’t bounce around like a camera does.
We used to not run motion smoothing on the camera to make the footage more dramatic but watch time was way lower because people found it difficult to watch.

@@boostedmedia From my karting days I don't remember it being smooth as silk. Anyway, thank you for the link to the second video. I personally think it looks much more authentic. In spite of that, the reason you give for smoothing the camera are certainly very much understandable. Thank you for explaining and good luck with the racing.
Thanks. Yeah personally I’d prefer a bit more shake but the numbers don’t lie. We’ve spent 18 months now optimising the footage :)

It is humbling to hear I'm not the only one getting caught up in bad races whether from bad luck or just struggling with the pace. Your videos help me keep trying iRacing since you're able to find some good racing.
I used to play TOCA Touring cars back when it first came out. The technology has come so far since the 90s. Loving the content.
I loved that game. So many laps of Nurburgring. 😂
According to my dad, no new car game beats the physics of Toca 2 haha
I played that a lot as a kid too but even games released a couple of years after that had much improved handling (and graphics).
Sad that codemasters turned away from the realism that toca series had and dropped it completely. I think their f1 series is fine, I'd live for them to go back and also make a new Toca.

I love this content. I would LOVE to see BeamNG with the offroad mods on your rig. Its a beast of an offroad game with mods. I think you'd enjoy it and make great content
Just got into iRacing at the beginning of this year. Liking the GT4 but still learning the tracks and car so not racing as much, but I am “watching” and trying to keep pace. Im sure my pace will come. Learned a lot just from watching your laps and telemetry and hopefully can shave some seconds off my lap times.

Same here! Got my C class license recently, then took a break due to moving - getting back into the swing of things, practicing for SPA next week in the GT4s, good luck!
@@Schwing27 I jumped in with both feet. I have a Track Racer TR80 rig with a Fanatec CSL DD base with a McLearn GT3 v2 wheel and CSL load cell pedal set. Cap it off with a 32” monitor and I think I have a pretty good beginner setup. Getting a lot of wheel time and learning the tracks has been my goal since I have started. I really don’t want to be “that guy” that takes a corner too fast and punts 3 into the wall.

How can this setup be 100k? I am really curious. Even maxed out motion rig costs like 20k maybe? I have no idea so, anyone? Or did he include his house?
Each monitor is probably 5-10K

I am trying to get back into iRacing after 6 years of a brake. I was driving the skip barber 6 years ago. But wanna go for something new. What is the "best" series on iRacing to go for? This GT4 series looks interesting. Anything else? Just nothing with oval racing.

This is why I DONT race. Its impossible to compete. I dont have thousands to spend on a wheel, pedals, shifter and rig to hold it all together.
You don’t need anything more than a logitech g27 and a solid table to be competitive!
I cant even see where the display ends and reality starts. I would love to play on that but $100k basically a house.
Bro just get a projector or a vr headset alot cheaper than a triple oled screen setup and just as immersive

@@boostedmedia I went up, when started treating first two laps as pure survival without bother gaining or losing positions, race starts at lap 3
I have the same approach. Doesn’t make a different when people don’t brake for turn 1 though. I even got taken out from pole by someone who just didn’t brake.

What a race!
I don’t know how they could do it but I wish they could implement drive through and stop-go penalties for drivers taking people out and causing accidents. My rating has taken a massive nose dive lately from being taken out from behind. Tighter the 1st corner the worse it is.
I'm stuck on a ps4 pad to race but on good game like asseto and pc2.
That a bloody kind of challenge to be consistent even more online.

Yep. I honestly thought he’d given up way too much speed stalling up like that but he must have gotten the power down again really early.
generally, most racers (on these games/sims) should do that much more to get faster.
I actually made a video thanking a couple of guys for a great, clean battle all race.
Rotten luck for the leader. In the replay it looked NO contact was actually made ...but I assume it was the angle of the shot. I'm wondering if that strange spin was not "driver error" after the contact ...did the driver cause the car to spin in this un-natural direction? If I took the FIRST place car out ...I'd quit out of embarrassment ...lol. Yup (in my humble opinion) ...Rory ...the green Porsche cut Mitchel off somewhat. Unintentional I'm certain. Thanks again for inspiring us lesser racers ...I often replicate races I watch on Boosted Media ...with far worse results somehow ...lol!

This is my hometown track. Watkins glen international. I’ve literally drivin this track IRL!
I can't play, but I watch. Nice battle race. At the beginning few minutes. Oh that's a bad blind spot between the side mirrors and the rear view ones. The spotter says "Car on the left". Can't see the car in either mirrors. Where is it? Too risky to turn your head and eyes away from the front. You have to rely on the spotter.
Are the side mirrors NOT adjustable in sim racing? I noticed a big difference in view between the rear view display and the side mirror view. Things in the rear view display are much closer than they appear. hehe.
This video right here… is the reason I’ve fully decided to build a gaming PC so I can start playing this game. I have GT7 on PS5 now, which is fun. But this just looks incredible.
iRacing is a cool game even with outdated graphics.
Such a strange configuration without the Bus stop, great race and great watch. How did you know to stay tight on the way to the carousel like that? I have only run in RL but will have to give it a try on the SIM.

Hi Will ...Great race Brother. I want to do this race but I'm not with iRacing. I have this track on AMS 2 ...Watkins Glen (am I right?). I'll set it up & practice with AI & eventually perhaps create a "Live Lobby" there as LIVE Racing is best if there are no fools. My question to you ...Being fair to your opponents in this race (& consider my lesser talent ...lol) what value should I set the AI to for this?
Everytime i see these videos i want to get my gear back and set it up for a race, but then i remember all the work involved , the configuration involved, trial an error setting all up...connection issues.... and then, just then... i give up. But i still finds it very fun to watch.

Yep. The Aston is much easier to drive than the Porsche and faster on the straights.
Hello Will nice video as usual but I noticed something. Did you change your fov? It looks like car going slower even on 200 but it wasn't like that on your previous videos. Or is it me only?
It’s a slower car with a taller dash which has an impact. FOV is the same :)

That’s a 3rd party AI spotter app called Crew Chief.

Solid race Will good to see ya back on iRacing...ya definitely not rusty ether had the pace for a podium just pushed a little too much on cold tyres which put you a bit behind, another 3 laps would have been fighting for 3rd 💪🏁

Cool setup. The right rear view seem to portray the car further away from you than your left side mirror for some reason?
It's similar to a backup camera on most roaf cars giving you a further fov to see more of the area behind you where the rear view mirrors are modeled as intended to give a view of the left and right quarter panels to see what's directly to each side

i don't know if you ever tried it, but VR in Iracing is a real blast. i sold my triple screen setup in 2017.
Yeah we have a bunch of headsets too including Pimax 8KX and Varjo Aero. The point of this is content creation though.

Great race. I feel your pain. I too have finished in bottom 5 last 4 races and seriously I have thought about giving it up losing over 300 irating in just 4 races and a license demotion . Comforting to hear others experience the same issue. More vids 👍

I find your vids so inspiring but struggle as i just cannot grasp tracks without a racing line but feel like im cheating with it! do you have any pointers to get my head stuck into it? - almost find it overwhelming!
You’ve just got to get used to racing without the line. It’ll become natural faster than you think once you commit. Watch hot lap videos on UA-cam or sign up for VRS data packs.

There’s other series that do mandatory pitstops. I just prefer not to race on them.
Are you actually blipping the throttle on downshifts or does the trace just show what the sim does for you?

Hi Will Are your settings on max ? And what fps do you get ? It seems very fluid
Getting between 80-120FPS with just about maxed our settings (2x antialiasing and 0 cube maps) at 11520x2160 resolution. That’s with reshade running too. 10FPS more if I disable it.
I can tell your adrenaline was going there on the last few laps battling to keep you spot above Mitchell
I skipped Winton as well, I couldn’t wrap my head around that course.
It’s not a bad track, just a recipe for chaos with the multiple possible lines and lack of visibility.
@@boostedmedia In the practice sessions cars were sliding off track left and right, and I wanted to go fast but it felt the track wanted us to go slower. Felt risky to my irating and safety rating
