I'm getting a feeling, not sure what to call it, I'll call it a Russian Doll feeling where this video could have been me when I met you, Jason, in Toronto at a Jamstack meetup where you did a talk and helped me with some code and it was an event that heavily influenced who I am and how I interact with developers. You loose the feeling of being an imposter when someone you look up to validates your efforts and even just spends a moment to mentor you.
Meetups and conferences are definitely something that I've had a lot of positive experiences with and found that I grew in some way and connected in some way to something deep inside of me that needed to be fed.

This hit way too hard. The last event I went to was pre pandemic. I had a rough time at that event (Google I/O). Didn't recognize a soul, never connected with "my group" for some reason. I've avoided in person for many years now. Well done, but we need to talk to people about being kind at events with people that look alone. People you don't know might be your next great hire, your next employer, or one of your next best friends.
