Re: wedding dress drama- the person who went through the trauma should decide when it's okay to joke about it. I understand humor can help heal, but it needs to be when you're ready. Story 1: NTA. If it's real, he needs to reevaluate his marriage. His wife is the biggest problem for supporting her daughter's ridiculous behavior, they're grown with children. Leaving 2 children alone with an 18 year old who is not their parent for multiple days to go on vacation is insane. Especially at the insistence of the grandma who doesn't want her own grandkids around. Those women don't like his daughter, they simply didn't want her to come. They had another babysitter for the kids and still tried to keep her from coming. That's extremely manipulative and very personal. He should protect his daughter. Story 2: NTA, dump him! He needs to go directly in the bin with the pads. Story 3: Everyone sucks. SIL was out of line for ruining 5 pots of sauce and they needed to replace the tomatoes and apologize. However a lifetime ban from your home is too much. Maybe just the kitchen 😊 Story 4: NTA, I'm sure he's fine LoL. Story 5: NTA! Joke or not, that comment was out of line and hurt the OP. The whole "just kidding" thing is always based in some type of truth and how someone really feels. So I don't feel bad for this spoiled, entitled, materialistic bride, who's also sarcastic, borderline rude, and also not too bright. (Why bite the hands that feeds you?) First, no one needs a $7k wedding dress. That's a want. The dress should not make it a "dream wedding", the groom should. Not having this extravagant wedding dress won't ruin her wedding or her life. On the other hand her sisters life and wedding was genuinely ruined and she's joking about it so flippantly even after her sister generously offered to bankroll a $7k dress to make her happy. She's completely justified. Her sister will get over it. Just like they're all expecting OP to get over the bad joke and hurt that's stuck with her for 6 years. If they're so bothered, let her parents or the Aunt pay for the dress. I disagree, she's definitely only crying over the dress. If she really cared about OPs feelings, she never would have made that comment. Story 6: NTA! Dad is trash and so is new wife for ignoring his older child when she still lived in the same home.
