  • Installing oil catch cans on my 6.0 swapped silverado. This video was filmed a couple weeks ago, before the dyno tune we just had. I can say after only having them for a week they have already caught a good amount of blowby. Good investment if you ask me.

    You're correct on the passenger side being fresh air inlet... I did the same thing on my truck before I figured it out... like you, I was shocked at how dirty the intake was and I didn't want to take any chances either... my passenger side stays clean... it's drawing clean air into the crankcase... I'm gonna take it off and use it on another project...

    I think you should re-clear coat your hood. Real easy and real cheap. Just sand the existing clear off, then re-spray w/ clear - your hood looks like new. Hood scoops are only a good addition if there will be enough high speed driving to warrant a scoop, otherwise its just an "appearance" issue.

    Correct me if I’m wrong.
    I’ve read a CC is NOT needed with port injection
    ???
    I also have a 2002 6.0 Silverado
    Excellent videos
    Thanks

      I can tell you it is needed. I have drained a good amount of oil from it

    2 catch cans is too much, one JLT catch can going to do a great job I got it installed on my 12 Silverado 5.3 surviving AFM and it sure made a difference at idle and it sure runs better and cleaner.

    Whats up Brother. Great vid Ive gained some more insight, tho not quite enough. But with your post I think Im getting closer. > Installing a CC on my 12 Genesis RSpec. Your the first one (amazingly) who has described the installation where both valve covers have a pcv valve. My thought has been why wouldnt both valves run to the CC? And what kind of fittings might I use to run both to a single can.... After watching your vid in full, You nixed the second can. Which is exactly what Im after. On my Genny the pvc line from the drivers side goes into the the air intake pipe real close to the actual intake. The passenger side goes into the air intake pipe but further up like 3inches. So am I to conclude I want to concentrate on the drivers side only??

    Correct me if I'm wrong so in reality if your getting alot of oil in the intake manifold means alot of blow by due to bad or cracked piston rings or oil rings so instead of rebuilding the motor and putting new rings u can use a catch can to get more life from the motor untill you do need to do a rebuild or open the engine block and but new piston rings or bigger pistons or viscera????

      If it is a lot of blow by then yea you have a problem. Some blow you is normal. Oil vapor is inevitable. So if you can capture it and not have to run it back through your engine the. You are only helping it run

    • @swappedoutZ71

      I have fairly bad blow by but it's because my rings have been gapped for nitrous. So in some cases it's not a "problem" because I purposely did something that caused the blow by and the builder informed me that it will always burn some oil due to my extra ring gap. Just some extra info for u to take in

    Could I theoretically use the speed engineering catch can on the drivers side and make my own bracket?

    • @EndlessWishlist
      @EndlessWishlist  3 роки тому +1

      Yes. Or just run longer hoses to the passenger side. That’s what I did on a 98 I ls swapped.

  • @gottabsleeved

    So did you use the PCV with the can?Or should i ditch the pcv and run hose only?

    Hi
    I installed catch cans on both banks. (2004 Tahoe).
    At oil changes I have 1/8 cup in drivers side can, while passenger side is bone dry. What does this mean?

    So is it necessary to have a cc on both sides or just one? Ive only seen people installing it on driver side this is first vid I seen on passenger side

    • @EndlessWishlist
      @EndlessWishlist  3 роки тому +1

      Just one side. I ended up taking one side off. Just need the driver side.

  • @ridered7262

    Your honest, You didn't edit video and shows that there will be issues until you work out the bugs when you start doing changes to motor. I had same issue that mine died pulling out of gas station shortly after I did my cam and then it's great now after toon.
