Been a Dunlop rider on street and track for 20 years. Tried the new Q5S and after 200 miles it started splitting apart. This was on the street. The seams where the different compounds meet, were splitting all around the tire... Dunlop replaced it for me, but I talked to my guy at Cycle Gear and he's had two other customers with the same problem. Switched both my bikes over to Michelin Road 6's and that's probably all I will run from now on. Probably the best all around street and occasional track day tire...
Yeah I was able to find a spot to get them at cost for ASO group members over in Austin. Only issue now is all the distribution to central Texas are out of stock and that’s not gonna work well with how fast they wear down if anything like the q4.
Thank you for your video. For none track riding but still fast ride which one would be better for grip & feel. Wonder how these two tires are different. Tt
There is two models Q5 which is the dot/track tire and the Q5S that replaced Q3+. They’ve been great 1300 miles on them and still holding shape while providing pretty much instant grip
The cup 2’s are still king in my opinion. I ditched the hassle of slicks when on track and The cup 2’s just give so much grip/confidence. Not as mushy feeling as the Pirelli’s But after seeing Dunlops new compound and tire carcass changes, I’ve been intrigued to try them… Q5s as of now for the street but come June I’ll be slapping the D.O.T variant Q5 for the track weekend to really compare them with the cup2’s It should be apples to apples.🤔
As of now the Q5s feels great on the road with its stiffer Dunlop carcass, allowing me to run lower pressures and get optimal heat for those spirited rides

Yeah these were decent but I still prefer the Michelin or Pirelli’s
What about the power 5’s? Wouldn’t those be comparable to the Q5s?
The power gp is the one that’s a direct comparison
Over 2000 miles considering two track days is pretty good. I'd like to try to the Q5, I just wish they weren't so damn expensive.

Definitely go with the S model if your riding street. Otherwise the putter edges are the exact same compound as the full on dot track day tire

Is that TPMs? Who makes it? Also it the other side a 90d elbo or stright up?
Not sure I’ll check next time the tire is off it came from the factory with tpms sensors

It’s a no-mar tire changer that was custom Welded to a 2 inch hitch receiver insert
