Great run! For my money, I think Crisis Zone has only gotten better over time now that most newer rail-shooters have embraced machine guns. That's not even to say Razing Storm is a bad 'sequel' either, but I think having both players on the same screen was a huge mistake. Makes blocking in 2P a huge hassle. Really hope they make another game in this series next (and with each player on their own cab!)
Thank you Jeremy! I think Razing Storm's fun, but in my opinion Crisis Zone flows a bit better. This is largely since there's little to no dialogue during gameplay that pauses the action. I would see people play Razing Storm in 2-player, and often they got confused when figuring out which shots to block (it's red for Player 1 and blue for Player 2, if I remember). And yeah, another machine gun-style Crisis game would be great!
Love this game. I used to play the arcade version with the recoil machine gun…man that was something…I’ve seen mods on here where the solenoid has been put into a g-con2 which makes it effectively the same thing. Still, the home release as you say does a great job of making the gun feel meaty and powerful. It’s hard as fuck though! I think it’s a tie between this and TC2 as my personal favourites. I wondered what version you was playing as noticed you don’t have the annoying muzzle flash present on ps2 but guessing you’ve hacked that out using PCSX2
Thanks for watching. To remove the muzzle flash, I had to dump the texture in PCSX2, change it in a photo editor to be transparent, and patch it back into the game. There's some tutorials online on how to do this. Makes a huge difference for sure!
Boss 1 4:50
Boss 2 12:22
Boss 3 20:35
Boss 4 24:02

Better Than Arcade Version ^^
I still prefer the arcade version but the PS2 port is still enjoyable. The sound effects and pacing in the arcade version jive with me more.

Much better if this game had 2 options so you would either choose the arcade version or the ps2 version
That would've been awesome for sure.
