Thanks for you time and effort making this video. Correct torque is 13 ft/lbs as you said. Just a fyi...do NOT use anti-seize as the plug manufactures state, it can "throw off you torque values and cause over tightening" and head damage. Remember, your screwing into aluminum and is soft!
Their official shop repair manual from Chrysler for 08-10 does recommend the anti-seize. They even “suggest” their mopar anti-seize platinum in the same section this guy placed it actually.
From my own experiments, I have found that the reason why they say not to use anti-seize is because it can make the "click" on the torque wrenches so dulled that you wouldn't even feel it. Hence, why in order to stick to the needed specs, you must be able to feel the click easily. (Which is what is meant by "it will throw off your torque values"!) This happened to me when I used anti-seize. There was a click on my torque wrench, but it was so subtle that I wouldn't have noticed it at all.
I know this is a old video. I'm doing my first spark plug change on a mopar engine. I like to watch videos with same projects, so i can see what I'm getting myself into. I notice that you didn't check spark plug gap. Very important as it could lead to misfire even spark plug failure and or damage to engine. Anybody that doesn't check spark plug for cracks and most important the gap, shouldn't be anywhere near an engine. Thanks for video.
Thanks for the help in this vid....this is the first time I've ever done something myself with my car other than changing tires, lights, and small stuff
I read 22 ft lbs of torque but read 13 in the comments. Which is correct?! Also, I bought TT plugs that are gapped 0.44. I think factory are gapped LESS, at like 0.40. Should I Regap them to factory specs or leave them be? Thanks!
@@guildensteinfoutch6232 I went to dealer and they said OEM recommendation was NGK Iridium. That's what I'm putting in. I only had time to replace 6 of the 16 last weekend and it seems like they are helping with fuel mileage already with only some of them replaced and they are good for 100,000 miles.
You should have got the normal copper or nickel spark plugs that are recommended for the car. If you use the platinum or iridium it has a chance to stall out the car at highway speeds
I have a 2006 Chrysler 300 with a 5.7 Hemi. It has just over 30,000 miles on it and runs great. I've been thinking of changing the spark plugs but I'm worried that the plugs might be stuck to the aluminum heads after all these years and could either break off or ruin the threads in the head. Have you ever heard of that happening?
nasedo3129 never head of anything like that .i think you should be fine taking them off. Ik because I took spark plugs off a car that was never replaced there spark plugs before.
MOPARGuy so sorry can’t remember in top of my head . But ik I used a torque wrench , 3/8 socket with magnet to remove spark plugs , 10mm socket with a socket wrench . Also some Extensions

Sounds perfect? My 2012 Charger RT Police ain’t never sound like that...
Cool Video but I noticed you never gapped your spark plugs or didn’t mention it.
i think i know what you’re talking about but can you explain it briefly. ik i’m a lil late
Do I need that huge wrench to put them back in or could I use a regular one with a long connector
Get one that’s long that way you can torque it properly
@@4k_custom thanks I appreciate it
How many times do u have to tighten them ?
.50 gap with champ coppers is key
Not if it's a vvt hemi
Coppers in a Road and Track package charger lol
good job bro!
Should I disconnect my battery
@@Banevs yes
You should be using copper plugs, for the older model
Whats the name of that flexable ratchet piece?
It’s a swivel socket

tommy d what does that mean regap??
Did you ever find out what is proper torque?
Do the plugs come gapped already or did u have to gap them.
always gap them

They're also called 'coil-over-packs' or COP's.

The car comes with iridium plugs
Bro thats not true lol, iridium is the best to use
That's for the older non vvt hemis. 03-07 they use copper.
did you gap the spark plugs?

O.E plugs are Iridium, those plugs are platinum. Have you had any problems with the platinum ones?
Steelmatic Hemi not at all . Haven’t had an issue
These engines were designed for copper. If you want better performance use copper, if you want longer lasting plugs use iridium
@@Vegz0rz the engine was designed for copper? Where did you find that info
