    Some quick notes for Lannisters:
    1. It's the kind of faction no one likes to play against. You never go into the fair honorable combat with Lannisters, they will always have some sort of trick up their sleeve to disrupt your plans and cancel your cards. So it's fine to be salty against Lannisters as a faction (just don't mix it up with the player behind the scenes)
    2. Playing Lannisters means playing your opponent. Your own deck doesn't really contribute to combat, so you need to play on a strategy level rather than a tactical level. Know your opponent's deck, and the abilities of all of their NCUs and units, understand when and how you should disrupt their synergies, and what you need to counter. Because of that Lannisters are one of the more difficult factions for a starting player.
    3. After a year-ish of playing Lannisters I decided that I needed a second faction and I bought some Starks. The game itself opened for me in a very different way, switching my focus from a strategy approach to a tactical one, worrying about outmaneuvering my opponents and attacking them from unexpected angles. Hopefully, after i finesse both of these approaches i will become a decent song player :D

    I think one of the interesting things about the Lannisters is that they have two sides to them that fits the lore. The first side is sort of the "Tywin" side, where you have a lot of very precise control of what's going on. You're using Tyrion to mill largely useless Panic cards to draw your good commander cards, you're using Tywin to knock out whole units all at once, you're chain-drawing Intrigue by having Tommen and Petyr work together, you're using Honor Guard (as of recently) to disable abilities.
    Or you can play like Cersei! Drunk, with your hands off the wheel and having positively no idea whether anything good or bad will happen as a result of your actions. "I play Subjugation of Power! Take a Panic Test! Oh, you passed it? And you played Baratheon conviction so you restore wounds off my card? How could this have happened! Nobody could have predicted it! Joffrey is the king! Hear Me Roar! What do you mean you play Final Strike? TYRION MUST HAVE DONE THIS!"

      Or you just play Gregor, drop all your cards in favor of Assault Orders + Price of Failure + Tywin NCU, and be like "Who told i am Lannister? I identify myself as a Stark player!"

    • @imperialminis857
      @imperialminis857  10 днів тому

      Well said. Each commander and NCU brings their own unique flavors to the faction. Fundamentally the faction retains its identity as outlined in this video, but that identity gets augmented with additional strengths. Taking Gregor, for example, gives the Lannister’s control-focused deck a suite of psycho-aggro tactics cards, along with a brutal commander attachment!

      Thanks! I tried not to get into too much detail on individual cards, but I ended up talking about a bunch of them anyway. The video was almost an hour long, so in Part Two I’ll either not talk in any detail at all about individual cards, or split the video into two parts and do the same amount of detail as in this video (which still wasn’t nearly as detailed as it could have been 😆).

    I consider myself a new player. It helps a lot to get a quick overview. The format of about 8-10 minutes for a faction is good place.

      @@imperialminis857 If you can get all the information into the format in less time, that would be cool. From my perspective, your comments, categories and experiences are more interesting. If you cut that part too short, I could read the cards myself. In short: in my opinion the video is long enough and in a good spot.

      I’ll consider doing a follow-up video showcasing the commanders. It might have to just focus on the card categories though and skip the explanations of each card, since that video could take forever otherwise. I could do one such video for each faction, and go in depth, but I think a quicker video with multiple factions (like this one) might be more useful.

    • @Andrea-Rizzini

      @@imperialminis857 Yeeah, I agree. You could skip the explanation of each individual card and just focus on the commander's style of play and on the categories each card has

    I really enjoyed this guide! Thank you for a great in-depth look at each faction, your insight about each faction has been really helpful for an upcoming player.
    I have a broad question about House Stark: I've watched several of your battle reports and noticed that commander choice has been very broad. Like you mentioned, the choice of commander will drastically affect the house/deck theme. But for House Stark as a primarily damaged based faction, having a more control oriented commander feels counter-productive to the deck (Having a more control based commander + Base stark damage as an example). When this is the case (Commander not well matched to deck), how negatively will this affect overall playability during a battle?
    Thanks!

    • @claw_and_fang
      @claw_and_fang 10 днів тому +2

      Well, if we look on the so-called control commanders they still mostly fit into "bashing your opponent until it's dead style":
      1. Robb - bash and run away
      2. Rodrick - bash, and sometimes cancel a card, make your opponent scared of bashing you
      3. Maege - bash and not die in process
      4. Rickard - bash and heal
      5. Howland - that's the only exception i think, so you just be tactical with him and bash opponents in the right moment, disrupting them beforehand

      @imperialminis857  10 днів тому +3

      @claw_and_fang Great response. Commanders in a faction *add to* but don’t take away from the identity of the faction. So in the case of Starks, the commanders all add different flavors to the aggressive style. Like claw_and_fang said, a commander like Robb adds more mobility to the aggressive playstyle, and a commander like Ned Stark adds healing, protection and some more damage.

      Thanks for the responses! Good to hear they don't directly change the base theme of the decks :)

  • @fortu392
    @fortu392 9 днів тому

    I find the lack of diversity in the stark deck a big negative point, i think some cards should be change to do something else other than attacking, attacking, attacking. And relying on the “1 rank mechanic” is too situational in my opinion

    • @noblegalifreyan4551
      @noblegalifreyan4551 День тому

      Personally I would want them to have something like battle endurance as part of their deck but yeah I do agree the one rank remaining is situational and also living on the edge when you're down to less than four wounds
