- Soon I'll be going to Flatanger, the cave that hosts a chunk of the world's hardest routes, such as Silence (9c/5.15d) and B.I.G (9c/5.15d). In today's video I train in preparation for a trip to Flatanger using a gigantic playground.
Huge thank you to @EricKarlsson for joining me on this session and Cordelia for filming!

I’ve made it to Flatanger already, and believe it or not but this was actually the perfect training for it. I think if I trained to climb this a few times per day for a few weeks it would be great preparation for the climbing here, as it’s around the same length. A lot of the holds are a little bit better on the routes, but you have difficult boulders in between everything, so with good endurance on jugs you can manage to recover for the hard boulders. Keep your eyes peeled for future videos from the gorgeous cave! 👀
If you are going to seriously use this for training could I humbly suggest that you a) don't use the bars at all and b) add some variation on the long drags by moving out to the edges of the staircase and back and diagonally through to provide more consistent finger difficulty while adding some more "awkward" positioning.
Hyped and what climbs are you trying on the trip?
@@tegridyfarms6197 will try and do a route called Odin’s Eye and see how much endurance I can build! Very cool climbing, but I struggle a lot with kneebars and the cave is quite dependent on them, so I’m currently figuring out bathang rests and other tricks to avoid the kneebars 😅
@@EmilAbrahamsson gl, I Look forward to seeing the videos!
I think Adam Ondra (of course, who else!!) has actually DOWNclimbed Odin's Eye. And to make matters worse, I think he git it first try, so it's an O-0. We are not worthy...
looks like the woman at 17:55 has found a different beta
That is not how the route setters intended it.
But did she do a sit start?
I think she did a walk up start
she broke the beta haha
@@hanswoast7 Running start I bet
9c+ /5.16a LMAO I love you
We wait for Stefano to repeat and downgrade it. Until this happens, I guess 9c+ is legit!
Stefano will upgrade it to 6c+
I'd rate it probably O0
@@prgnify safe but but i'd agree
The people walking ontop must be sooooo confused 😂
Emil missed something, they maybe think... 😅
.
If Pete Whittaker and Tom Randall can use a cellar in Sheffield to train for Century Crack, then using a Swedish kids playground to train for Flatanger seems totally reasonable to me :)
when you actually take "the floor is lava" seriously... this is an absolutely insane achievement lol
If you took it seriously you would actually walk up the stairs.. jk it was insane and a lot of fun to watch! Made me want to look for similar structures in my city.
Emil : "my endurance stretches to about five moves and then I’m toast"
Proceeds do a million moves on first try
"Local man takes wrong side of stairs, crushes it"
Imagine just going for a stroll down those stairs but all you can hear is just Emil try hard noises from below your feet
Those noises! Sounded like he was about to explode 😂🎉
This could make a great series, ‘Climb the stairs with Emil”
I hope the architect of the staircase sees this! He did not know what a Monster he was creating! Mad respect Emil
Or she .....
@shellytraverse good one, but it didn't collapse.
@@shellytraverse lol

Imigine walking down those stairs while emil is climbing underneath you lol.
There was a lady going up in the one the shots while he was under a stair segment
@@deadturret4049 ... and then Emil got extra power to finish it! Haha in 19:35 he said this himself "4th gear".
This is normal in Sweden
For a guy who only does boulders and has no endurance, that was outrageously impressive! For anyone at all, that was outrageously impressive!
I know right! I'm sitting here thinking "so Emil has no endurance! WHAT am I looking at then!?!" Serious achievement, this.
So nice to see pros getting humbled. Sometimes, when you guys don't struggle, I think I'll never get better. But videos like this make me root for you and hope for myself.
Did he get humbled though? He basically did it first try lol
@@soccutd77 Yeah xD
That feeling of being willing to give everything to continue is what makes athletes so inspiring.
Thanks for the motivation, can’t wait to hit a climb tomorrow.
That's amazing! The climb was super intense, I loved the lack of music and just listening to your breathing. Incredible video
8 minutes!!! Don’t think I could even hold your rest pose for 8 minutes. Let alone climb up a flight of stairs. Well done 👏 outstanding as always Emil
“Mommy, there was a man panting and grunting at the playground today” 😅 but seriously, hella cool and impressive!
Heh! Seeing the tram at the beginning of the video reminded me of Wide Boyz' urban crack climbing shenanigans underneath the bridges of Sheffield 😁.
Also this climb, and the quality of the video itself, was majorly impressive.
Congratulations Emil - bloody awesome stuff.
Awesome climb and video! I can't believe Cordi filmed the whole thing so smoothly while moving backwards and ducking railings
Adam ondra must be soooo angry Silence has been sarpased
I'd love to see Pete Whittaker give this a shot, that man lives for pumpy climbs
Definitely! Even though it wasn't a crack climb, this gave major Wide Boyz vibes.
Amazing Emil, you beast! Would love to see you drag Pete out to suffer on this, he'd definitely be game!
Eric nailed it, this is Ninja Warrior training. It's basically the same level of difficulty and excessive campusing!
this is even harder difficulty than Ninja Warrior
@@johnnyd.j.6068 ..no? this is harder on the fingers, harder climbing, but you will not see emil having as good of a time on the many ninja warrior style dynamic moves
Ninja Warrior endurance. Easier moves individually but far more moves in a row
We need more Eric on the channel
Would love to see Magnus do this too! Amazing Emil! 🖤
I think this is a firstie, but anyone mad enough to climb under the local staircase down to a park that for some reason is made into that metal construction instead of just being put down into the ground, deserves a like and a sub. First time I've subscribed to someone for climbing under the public stairs like a Gremlin/Spidermonkey/Goblin...
I mean I've seen you in different vids of yours and Magnus'es but holy crux training like a gobbo like that, very fun.
Mind over matter, it's amazing how sheer willpower can allow you to push yourself far past every physical limit you thought you have, to "kick in the fourth gear" as you said. It makes sense for survival reasons and I'd guess for most people that's the only time they'll experience it since you'll need to reach "I was gonna die before giving up" mental state, but if you manage to push yourself to experience it safely it's one of the best feelings in the world at least personally.

Man.. so insane! Great + for the creativity aswell. You are a beast.
Congrats on the world's first 9c+ man! Inspiring for future generations
Dude honestly extremely impressive. That looks crazy hard to endure. 👏🏼👏🏼
Those Establishing shots are so beautifully framed!
Hehe, efter det här klippet så kommer färgen på den där trappan att nötas bort av alla som vill testa sina skillz. Bra jobbat! 👌
Fun stuff, with my club we climbed often under bridges and there these beams were the standard. Both easy to hold on to as well as pumping you out quickly, great fun!
Wow that was amazing.
I had to subscribe for that immense effort.
Climbers are super human.
Well done bro.
Cracked. Great effort Emil!
This must be one of the most creative climbing videos ever! Good job!
Way to go, dude totally stoked for you!!!
Emil, that was awesome #9c+FTW Thanks for the video man, helps a lot!
What a quest to take on, was amazing to watch how you beat the staircase!
Such a great vid!🔥
I wish I could like this more than once! I found myself trying to hit the like button every 2 minutes. Great job! That was a blast to watch!
Since it is a man made structure, all the round "holds" are identical and all the flat "holds" are identical - which probably makes this climb even harder for your grip and CNS, as the exact same muscles work all the time. Where as on a natural rocks, there will be variation, tireing out more different parts of the grip musculature.
Well done, young man. Now you just need to do it a couple of times a day for a couple of weeks 👍👍
You found an easily accessible, sturdy and free training course.
Havent climbed anything that difficult but I can totally relate to that level of pump. Almost affects your ability to talk and think.... sick challenge Emil
That was awesome effort and a great FA!
When I saw the thumbnail I just knew I had to click and damn, you did not disappoint, Emil. Absolutely amazing video! Would love to see more of this!
i wonder what the woman on the stairs is thinking at 17:55 lol
I was looking for this comment

I think climbing is realy popular in sweden, so it was just "another crazy climber" for her.
I loooove this! Being from Denmark we're used to climb on anything, as there's no rocks about.
I'm watching this while stretching before I climb, and I think I'm getting pumped from watching 😮😅🔥
insane climb by emil once again,, can’t wait to see Flatanger 🔥
Emil, you're a beast. You got this my bro.
Not going to lie- I teared up when I was watching this. Emil, you are a damn machine bro! Keep it up.
Thank you for inspiring
That was really impressive, well done!
Wow! Sjukt imponerande 👏👏👏
I recognize that spot!
Dang, amazing job.
Super strong!
"I think it’s too dangerous for skateboarding so we should be good" *sees chalk underneath* "fuuuuuuu***k”
Glad to see I'm not the only one who uses the underside of a local staircase to train.
New spot just Discovered !!! Everyone gonna be flying over here to try it
5.16c loved it 😂. Man we could hear the pain..
This is definitely the most immersive climbing video I've experienced.
SO impressive! And oddly moving too
You need to get Pete Wittaker and Toby Segar onto this!
So good.
You have a heart of a lion! You inspire me man.
That was FN Awesome bro ❤❤❤
First ever 9c+ hahaha
You have crazy endurance!
Super cool video!
So sick, and how fun to be walking around and eyeing up things like this to potentially try. Get storror on this
Dont think any of them could do it except perhaps Toby. A 7 person relay vs Magnus + Emil fastest wins though my god that would be content
Hade varit fett om du hade en hemsida eller nåt där man kan se alla ställen i Stockholm där du klättrat samt hur svåra de är. Om du läser detta så är du en stor inspiration Emil!

I absolutely love challenges like those * - * And If I find them myself in the free wild I'm always trying do do them... Its like it's taking aot in the urban wild aspect of parkour
There's a bolted cave in Nevada with completely horizontal routes about 250 ft long if you want endurance. You won't find it listed online or in a guidebook but it's there and awesome.
Congrats! 4 the first 9c+!!! And you didn't have to train much! Some people were tryin' years for a 9c.
With your power, you should go directely to 10a!!!
buildering! yes! climb everything, not just rocks, urban landscape is part of our nature!
i had to mute the video in between because i was worried my neighbours gonna think i watch porn on loudspeaker with all that moaning... xD
lol I thought the same thing when I was in the bathroom and my wife walked into the room hahaha
Quality content
Legendary
honestly inspiring
🎉 that was crazy, good to know we all have fourth gear if you just commit to death on the way!
This is so rad
Get Emil in the cellar 🙌
This is actually very similar to the way we trained around 1979-1987, before we had any indoor gyms in Norway. Buildering was the order of the day!
mooom the strange guy is climbing the stairs again
It's a beautiful place
The amount of grit this takes holyyy
Wow!
color match is lit
You totally need to get an outdoor buildering party by your apartment! Invite a bunch of climbers from a local gym to try it out!
2:48 hey hey hey wooo sit start only!
that was a super insane climb
"So my endurance stretches to about five moves and then I'm toasted." - proceeds to do 200 moves in a row first try. You're a beast.
I automaticaly put a like in your vids before watching. Like, of course it's going to be another great one to watch ^_^'
I like how an outdoor staircase becomes the ultimate climbing challenge.
