This short is amazing! Since it came out I have been looking for something that truly expresses what the BMPCC 4K can do. THIS IS IT! Not some travel short, review or test, quick color grade in Europe video... A truly cinema quality short! This inspires me. And the gear you used makes it within reach for the no budget person (like me). Thanks from the UA-cam world of ppl looking for more out of the BMPCC 4K.
Dude thank you! I'm in the same boat, always want to see real world examples of what a camera can do instead of the classic camera test footage. Its so hard to decide to make something, but it's always worth it.
@@CovertFilm my big thing is actors and crew. I got stuff and ideas/stories. I hope to be putting up something in the future!
@@codytyler8510 for sure. I sort of wrote these roles with these two friends of mine in mind. When youre not working with professional actors I think it really helps to write something that works with the person's personality
I totally agree. Every time I search on UA-cam or Vimeo for bmpcc 4k short films, and I come across some stupid travel video or some "cinematic" random shots video, it drives me absolutely mad. This is what I want to see. This is amazing work. This really shows what the camera is capable of. I just received mine this week and I'm really excited to explore the possibilities.
@@Victor-Rojas Oh man I so agree.. I just don’t get it. This is exactly what I’ve been looking for. It took me a while to find this video. I appreciate this video so much.
I came here looking for examples of what the BMPCC 4k was capable of. After watching this short, I don't even wanna know how you did what you did. I'm just glad you did it. This film was excellent.
This was dope. You guys did a great job with lighting
This is great man, thank you so much for this video, I’m currently working on a short film this was great .how many cameras did you use to shoot this?
Also I second the BTS comment! Especially lighting. It looks like your working with a lot more then you are.
That is a solid piece of filmmaking! Killer work!
Awesome work man, I just got done filming my first short film with the bmpcc4k. Im blown away by your film, probably my favorite short ive seen with the bmpcc4k. A bts video would be awesome. Keep up the awesome work!
❤ beautiful
Wonderful job! Congratulations!
great job guys!
Incredible the quality it’s amazing i don’t believe you turned with the black magic 4k
Between the camera work and the actual plot of the film. The film is amazing. The light and color grading was perfectly done to fit the mood of the film. The plot was well shown and all aspects of the film were recognized. Both actors were impeccable and there was not a scene that they did not master. All in All fantastic film.
Thanks Asher!! You rock.
WoW!!!this amazing,interesting idea
Wow! Great job! I'm so happy to see someone producing this kind of work with the bmpcc 4k. I just received mine this week. I'm so excited to get going.
don't get me wrong, I'd love to be producing work on super expensive gear! But I'm super grateful that the stuff we have access to nowadays is so much insanely better than even just ten years ago. I used to us a 'flip camera' if you know what that is haha
@@CovertFilm definitely. I'm 40 years old, so I'm very familiar with those types of cameras lmao. I started shooting on mini DV and high8. One of the first professional cameras I used was a Sony Betacam lol. Thankfully we have access to amazing gear nowadays and the price is just insane. Exciting times.
OMG I NEED A PART 2
So good. The story, cinematography, light, color... Solid. What am I even doing with my life?
I'd say you're doing some pretty frickin important work yourself
incredible!
Well done! Good stuff!
This was VERY good! I KNEW when he said "It doesn't usually get this quiet" _something_ loud was gonna happen and I don't really know why the explosion happened, but it definitely made me jump!!
Yeah that moment hopefully feels tense like that. Sort of going for a mini "quiet before the storm" type of thing!
dude this is amazing lol
Good job!!! 👏🏻 😉
Great story!
Wow ! I'm stunned by the sound composition ! How did you achieved to get such a great sound ?
Thanks man! Most of the sounds we're re-recorded in editing, including a bunch of the dialogue outside (you can most tell in the nightime scene when the second guy first shows up). We just had a shotgun mic and one wireless lav we'd use to pick up the audio of whoever was farthest away. Hope that explains a bit!
Thank god! Finally something movie worthy, and not one of those stupid slow motion video with free background music
Amazing quality!
Glad you think so! I chalk that up to Myles's color grade and the lighting/production design.
interesting chemistry between the two Actors amazing short
Wow great job
Looks great!
Hey thanks!
Pcc4K? Check.
$6000 of lenses? "Houston, we have a problem."
This looks incredible.
Stop it! You're making me blush! But seriously though, I blame most of that on the cool production design we got to shoot. Lots of textures and stuff!
I would appreciate if you make a tutorial on in camera settings and colour grading.
very nice...love to see behind the scene or grading breakdown
For sure! I'll see what I can do about putting together some sort of behind the scenes!
Wow..
Wow, what lens and color grading did you use? Can I achieve this with the LUMIX 12-35mm 😅
good job
this should have more than 2500 views, very good, looked great, sets are good and the acting is also very good. only negatives are the sound was a little flat in places, sounded dubbed rather than in the room, and at the beginning reaching for something on a shelf and not getting it first time, (knife) kinda cliché lol. bloody decent short movie though, and i watch a lot of them, especially bmpcc films. this is one of the best ones. also loved the soundtrack,
Pretty damn good for a BMPCC short film. The lead actor sounded like his lines were dubbed, though...kinda took me out of some scenes. Other than that, pretty stellar work here.
Epic. Now can you do it again with the 6K for the side-by-side? Hah, but for real this short is so good I completely forgot about the tech aspects, I was just absorbed. Great work.
That's awesome! Makes it feel like a success if you just get lost it in and start watching to see what happens
I recorded using a micro sd 32 GB card in a SD adapter and loaded the braw file onto my laptop. I then loaded it onto the Davinci Resolve software. I see the file on my timeline now but it's not playing as a video when I press the play button. Any advice?
With the BMPCC4K with Davinci Resolve 16: Do I have to have a rtx graphics card? Would an i7 laptop with an intergrated card work at all?
Yea this looks great and all. But is anybody going to mention the sound design on this one? Like Cody Tyler mentioned, it's nice to see something other than a simple cinematic montage with music slapped over top. This is top notch! I'm ashamed to say I haven't put my pocket 4k through the same paces.
Wow thanks Jason! Sound design is my favorite part of the editing process, so that's really validating. Glad you liked the short!
Yooo what are those lenses are you using my dude
Nice work Luke !!
Thank you sir! Fun to totally wreck my house for a weekend!
That’s right you did say that it was your home, great set design man. Loved your shot selections. And color grading.
@@CovertFilm Weekend he says...... I've had 7 months and I'm still here working from home with no "shorts" to speak of.
i forgot what i was looking for and got caught into the storyline. lol
what lenses did you use CINE OR PHOTO lenses?
We used Rokinon Xeen cine lenses. Basically they're like the bottom shelf of cinema lenses. We borrowed them from a friend for the weekend we shot.
@@CovertFilm That explains why the quality is amazing I own 2 Rokinon lenses for my Blackmagic 6K Pro the 35mm 1.5 and the 24mm 1.4 amazing lenses to get your foot into cine lenses
For audio sound was it just a mic in pocket 4k
On set we recorded with a shotgun mic and a wireless lavalier mic plugged into a Zoom h6 and then I synced the sound later. We also rerecorded most of the foley and some ADR in post.
Who cares that this film was shot "in quarantine" ... Is that supposed to make it something special ??? WTF !!!
this movie sucks man, I wanna see some jaws breaking head snaping eyes poppin and stuff, come on man
