What are you talking about? A lot of things are just wrong. S44 has more maps than HLL and they are a lot bigger. Up to 10ish times. Contentwise SQ44 offers a lot more. More weapons, more vehicles (lol), more theatres and gamemodes that are actually played. It doesnt even come close. VOIP in HLL is notorious unreliable and so many ppl dont talk (thanks Gamepass). These are just a few things.
I miss Red Orchestra 2 with the option of voice acting and VOIP instead of just relying on VOIP like HLL and SQ44 do. The immersion in RO2 added by soldiers reacting on various situations add the war feel.
That's not it, SQ44 is just not fun. If there was a game in between HLL and SQ44, it would be perfect. I do like a lot about PS44 I just constantly find the gameplay loop to not be fun.
I like both. S44 is more realistic, HLL is a good mix between realism and arcade gameplay. I hope the HLL Devs cooked something big this year, it would be sad if it dies.
I prefer squad 44 over HLL. Used to enjoy HLL when it was a bit more realistic on launch but changes they have made just lost me (gear throw changes to tanks, almost all new vics being automatic transmission, excessive automatic weapons, maps being shifted from realistic recreations to game balance, etc.) squad 44 is much more team based with squads, being able to build fobs with emphasis on logistics, and so far only game where you can actually paradrop into battle (outside of a mod for squad that allows you to paradrop as well)
The important thing you said is that you play on clan servers in HLL. I have only played on official HLL servers and the experience was great when HLL was new but now it’s crowded with COD and BF players who do not value communication & coordination. They suffer from lone “wolfitis”. I rarely hear from the commander even if I have announced our squad’s entry into the session. Squad leaders are often silent and often don’t have a microphone. Who the heck plays a multiplayer teamwork game without a microphone?! Then there’s enemy sniping from who knows where? It doesn’t matter if we use cover and shoot & scoot. My friends/brothers and I try to move as a squad supporting each other but invariably we get shot from a mile away. My experience in Squad44 has been much better. If you can actually find a populated server, it’s a much better experience. Players are more mature and more into communication & coordination rather than kill/death ratios. Explosions and weapon sounds are more visceral. Tank operation feels more like a simulation rather than the arcade tanks in HLL. Perhaps the solution is to play on a squad server in HLL.
I put 100 hours into HLL and it never clicked for me. To me it’s an arcade game. Nobody communicates in the game and it doesn’t come close to squad. I have a lot of hours in squad and there’s nothing like it. I hope OWI can revive squad 44 because it has a lot of potential to have at least half of squad’s player base. Looking forward to the pacific update in S44.
Much agree with the HLL maps being designed with gameplay in mind, it's one the sacrifices S44 makes when trying to stick true to realistic maps. It was something HLL began with in it's first alpha's when st mere eglis map (old version) was a copy of an over-top airplane photo. The map didn't play good at all and they scrapped and remade it. I've played a ton of both games and I do wish the maps in S44 were more fun to play. It's what dictates the big distances from farm A to farm B in many cases, especially the market garden maps. I do like S44, but I don't play it currently, it's the lack of consistency.
I haven't picked up squad 44 yet but do play squad and prefer its gameplay loop over hll. Do agree that hll is much more inviting to new players but the game play loop gets stale to me quicker. I think its the maps feeling much more bottle necked and movement restricted. Plus I just squads system for fobs and logistics more. Plus the vehicle combat in squad 44 just looks awesome.
I feel like 3/4 of the matches I play in HLL are frustrating as hell because nobody plays the meta game properly. The community is mostly brain dead except for the few vets that still play.
Your experience in regards to communication between the two games is pretty much the opposite of what most others report. I have only played HLL for a few hours during a FTP weekend a year or two ago. I could count on one hand how many people I heard talking but I chalked that up to a bunch of new players also on FTP. I recently got the itch to try it out again but reading comparisons/reviews of the two games, I went with Squad 44 due to the consensus being that it has much better communication/teamwork compared to HLL. Its pretty rare to have a non communicating squad. A lot of squad leaders will even kick people who aren't talking.
I can vouch as a lvl 268 veteran with 1500 hours in HLL that 70% of people do not speak. It mostly boils down to incompetent squad leads who do not kick players that don't have mics.
One thing to note, aside from the Pacific front update, the team is also going to move to the Unreal 5 engine, which may fix some of the optimization issues people have.
The future isnt wobbly for HLL - Its non existent. T17 absolutely suck in every regard when it comes to HLL and IMHO the game will die out just like Post Scriptum did unless T17 decide to sell it to someone (prefferably more passionate and most of all - more competent)
The only thing i wish they do with Squad44 is redesign the maps, not the layout but the immersion houses are empty nothing is burning on the map and all of them feels like theres no war going on
The part of your video essay where you mentioned that HLL is easily enjoyable for new players explains why its servers are more populated than Squad 44’s. The simplicity of the mechanics, combined with the exceptional level of in-game action, is what keeps players engaged. While Squad 44 may have an upcoming new faction or map, keep in mind that HLL will also have updates.
I like both, squad 44 is a good game because it has more maps and factions with the historical acquire weapons, something that HLL doesn't have since it uses all the same weapons for every map of every year of the war, HLL has a bigger player base with many servers to play both conquest or just offensive, they need to rework some stuff, both are no that great optimize and need a good CPU. So if you like WW2 games just get a bot, HLL has a smother gameplay with an easy understanding of how to play the game, the community is nice and they will help you. Squad 44 also has a fun community but it is hard to understand some of the gameplay. So yeah just get both, play both, and play medic or eng you are going to have fun.

I play both games. I started off with HLL, but these days I much more prefer Squad 44. I've been playing Squad 44 almost exclusively since the name change from PS and since the dolphin dive walkback update for HLL. Gameplay-wise, I prefer the strategic elements of Squad 44 as well as the detailed terain features and more expansive weapon selection. Last night, I went back to playing HLL just to see what's going on. It was a frustrating experience with teammates not really communicating and just generally getting in the way of eachother. I realized that the main drawback of HLL is the quality of the players. These days, HLL players are just not team players. They don't communicate very well, and they often do stupid stuff instead of using teamwork or just being mindful to not mess up their teammates. I remembered that one of the big reasons I stopped playing HLL and moved over to PS even though it was dying at the time was that, around the time HLL walked back the dolphin-dive mechanic, the quality of players took a huge nosedive. People stopped using their mics and I started encountering toxic players and getting into actual arguments more often in matches. It wasn't always like that. When HLL first came out, veteran players were way more helpful teaching new players the ropes, and everyone actually used mics pretty frequently to communicate and coordinate attacks. In my experience, fights and arguments never happened. Maybe like once in a blue moon? There were also many good tutorials on youtube. Squad 44 players, by contrast, are much more teamwork orriented, communicative, and helpful, which just makes the game experience more fun overall. Even though it is harder in the beginning to have situational awareness on the battlefield, if you play it enough, you eventually start to appreciate the ability to strategize and communicate and coordinate tactically with your teammates to win battles. With the new content in the pipeline and the updated graphics(with more potentially to come if it gets ported to Unreal Engline 5), I think Squad 44 is the better game for those who seek immersion/realism and don't mind the initial learning curve.
Definitely a good video but one S44 has a lot of maps a shit load of tanks and even more different guns. Two playing on public HLL servers I never find any squads talking, and it's the complete opposite almost all the time in S44. Also let's not forget squad 44 is getting the pacific theatre with iwo jima in like two months. and the map is a one-to-one scale replica which is amazing.
But is it amazing from a gameplay perspective? It seems to me that there would have to be thousands of players populating the map, or it will feel totally empty and devoid of life.
HLL is not on a downward spiral, atleast according to steam charts. It’s been pretty consistent. Squad 44’s avg player count has been trending downwards over the past 6 months.
Maybe actually watch steam charts before commenting. Just checked S44 and it is not on a downwards spiral. Average playercount is higher now than it has been for a while. It will probably also increase with the pacific. And remember player count ≠ better game
In fact, I dream of someone combining all the best aspects of both games into one whole. I play HLL every day, I have friends there from my favorite server and it's somehow difficult for me to switch to playing S44 but I still think it's an amazing game and I give it a chance from time to time. Wish it had better maps...
Only thing Squad games need is just Level system, maybe not for guns, just experiences, like level up from private to corporal, everything are doing great , but after you finish one match and nothing left, even you don’t even know your teammates are experienced or not, so after 300 hours in squad 44, after you knew every mechanic and game rules, the game is just feeling bored
I actually think that the level system is why HLL is worse. It's not realistic or immersive to have to unlock weapons. The level system in HLL has made it so that a majority of players are running machine guns which has made classes like the rifleman entirely useless.
@@halla359 that’s why I wrote maybe not for guns, for experiences, like players level, and we can also know that which players are veterans or newbie, and also, after playing matches per matches, I feels some pointless to play , especially when you play alone in there, in HLL, most of players see the experience tag and they utterly know which player should be Commander or SL
@@emperoroak7331 Fair enough. Although i think adding a level with no other function than a number next to your name would get players complaining about not recieving anything for leveling but idk
@@halla359 well, atleast, we can know how that players are experienced and it’s more similar to Rank system in other games, but just rank numbers like sergeant, recruit or captain or colonel etc, atleast knowing how experienced, right and players also gain something from playing, now it’s just feeling empty after match
@@emperoroak7331 But that could also be problematic. Just because you have played the game much doesn't mean you are the best fit for commander and SL roles. And a system like that would barely even work as the game is 6 years old already. That would make the people that have grinded the game for 6 years and people that just got it and started grinding on the same level....
Quality > Quantity I have been playing Squad 44 since day one and have ALWAYS had a game to play! If the server you are in is full, WHAT DO THE OTHER SERVERS MATTER TO YOU?!?!
Seems like a lot of people just want to shit on HLL and I’m not really sure why. I’ve played both and love both. Although I have to agree that HLL is more open to new players at least in my experience. Every time I try to play squad it’s nothing but people just being toxic and I will to help people learn. Sad that. But doesn’t mean I won’t play again
when u were talking about the maps in squad being more realistic i think i gotta disagree, i remember hell let loose talking about being as faithful to the real maps from the battles as possible while using pictures and maps from the time, and squad 44 focusing on getting the feeling of the battles more so
Bro faster movement speed in hell let loose? I feel like hell let loose is way more slow and sluggish. Squad 44 has a stamina system, and as long as you're not out of stamina, your actual sprint speed in squad 44 feels way way better than hell let loose.
As a HLL veteran i recently tried out the first time Squad44 and it felt so clunky. The maps look very good but not well designed, random and inconsistent. Sorry Squad!
SQ44 Maps are a lot larger then HLL, you dont realize it from the get go but look alone at the maps both titles share like Driel or St. Mere Eglise for example. In the case of Driel HLL is like 20% of SQ44 Maps size. Is that better or worse? No clue but it at least nice for me as bigger gives me more options but ofc it means less enemy per meter
I'm really itching to try new big multiplayer WW2 games because I played HLL for 3 years now so when I read PS got bought by the guys who made squad i was excited but im the bandwagoning type and when I see the player count of S44 still being incredibly low it just doesn't give me confidence. Try to view this not from the lens of fanboy wars of whose the better game but from a concerned consumer.
Not to mention, it has steamworkshop currenty with The Spanish Civil War, Soviet Union, Noth Africa, Zombies & Defence. The Pacific is ariving soon, & Russian Army. Good Devs
I don't understand why people claim people do not talk in HLL. Like partly it is truth. Sometimes there might be only one dude in the squad who wants to talk to you, but I personally had decent experience in 375h of gameplay. Commanders and SL most of the time talk to eachother except for few "lone wolves" who like to play on their own. There is bigger chance that somebody will speak more than enough or too loud rather than not speaking at all.
Squad 44 needs to go to console if it does and keeps it’s authentic play it will thrive, the fact it’s only on pc is a massive disadvantage. I know I would play the hell out of it if it was on console but I’m not prepared to shell out a load of money for a gaming pc.
While I love S44 there is not many serves with players, that sucks, maybe is because I live at south america but still sucks that you enter Squad 44 and any other servers rather than french or german servers are full.
The thing is; I have both installed atm, but as far it goes for Squad 44,.. I really can't play a game when there is almost no players. And no, I'm not going to play in servers where my ping is over 80ms. Only european server seems to be from germany, and it requires the very use of german language. I once played on some eastern (russian?) server, and oh boy it was boring. I tried to speak in english there, but they complitely ignored my attempts and continued to speak their own thing. I got kicked out every squad i did join and that IS BS. So, HLL it is. Or Squad if I want to get yelled at for my incompetence. LMAO.
Post scriptum, no doubt about it. HLL way too arcadey and fuck their terrible microtransactions. Post Scriptum also just feels more gritty. HLL has some nice maps tho NGL.
It's ultra-playable at high ping. I played it competitively from Australia, won 1 EU ladder season, and top-fragged the losing side of 1 ladder grand final as inf. You won't be held back by ping.
Squad 43 could have 10x more maps, variety, whatever. It doesn’t come close to HLL performance and graphics/ detail. IF HLL had better devs, this wouldn’t even be a discussion
#1. It doesnt have better devs so your point is moot. #2. This is one of those times where its not all about the prettier game. Squad is an overall much more realistic and enjoyable experience. If you like HLL better thats fine, but dont try and convince people otherwie with your stupid ass examples LOL
Worth mentioning that Squad 44 will be introducing the Soviet army and the Pacific Theatre with Iwo Jima. Pretty nice!

How you are disturbing squad 44 is how he'll let loose was disturbed to me when I first started playing and we looked down on battlefield players
In fact, I dream of someone combining all the best aspects of both games into one whole. I play HLL every day, I have friends there from my favorite server and it's somehow difficult for me to switch to playing S44 but I still think it's an amazing game and I give it a chance from time to time. Wish it had better maps...
as of today November 11 2024 squad 44 has around 600 players with only a 100 more during peak time and HLL is sitting around 6000
I wish I squad 44 was available on PlayStation
Squad 44 is higher paced than hell let loose. It only gives you the impression of the opposite if you're new and bad.
If I want real WW2 simulator Call to Arms Gates of Hell - Ostfront is the game. It’s strategy but can’t get more realistic
Day of Defeat
Every time I will log into squad 44 there’s no one playing . But every time I’m on HHL there are like 10 servers totally full.
and they are all shit tbf . squad 44 is still better just play on peak hours
There are literally always full servers in squad 44 all day every day
Quality > Quantity
I have been playing Squad 44 since day one and have ALWAYS had a game to play!
If the server you are in is full, WHAT DO THE OTHER SERVERS MATTER TO YOU?!?!
Any Australian servers? Having to connect to servers across an ocean ir two is pretty meh @boogie5
Huh. There’s always at least 1-2 full servers.
Hopefully Squad 44 has an actual attempt at optimization unlike Squad that is about as consistent as a crackhead's teeth.
It’s crazy you say HLL IS ARCADY coming from battlefield that shit is real ash 😂😂
compared to Squad 44 it is arcady
so sick of these games looking literally identical
Because its unrealistic, u can never run THAT fast with a machine gun, really unrealistic
@@AFreaking_Frog not really. You should see the clips on r/joinsquad disproving stuff like this
@@AFreaking_Frog btw kinda insane trying to argue that HLL is more realistic that sq44
Theres no tickets in hhl, maybe there should be
As a HLL veteran i recently tried out the first time Squad44 and it felt so clunky.
Both are great World War 2 games.

Most people get in squad with low level players, play in clan servers people always talk in those
Is squad 44 only for pc?

I miss Heroes & Generals 😔

Squad 44 is so good in these comments, that only 1 person from the comments actually plays it.
There are a lot of console players that would love to play squad 44. In the meantime hll it is.
bro please do not use AI generated thumbmails, makes your content look cheap even tho it isn't
His content are cheap anyway.. maybe hes using ai for the script too
you are prioritizing HLL
I’d play it if it was on Xbox I love HLL so more games like it would be sick
how many hours do you have in both games?

i dont dare buying squad 44.
scared its gonna die again XD
15 bucks on sale is worth it imo
The pacific front is coming out this year
Squad will eventually be the more popular game. HLL is the one you need to worry about.
Squad 44 needs to go to console if it does and keeps it’s authentic play it will thrive, the fact it’s only on pc is a massive disadvantage. I know I would play the hell out of it if it was on console but I’m not prepared to shell out a load of money for a gaming pc.
Ive played squad 44 1500 hours and hll for 300. I disagree with everything you said here
Playing in clan matches is polar opposite of pub matches in hell let loose. World of difference. Is there any chance they bring sqaud 44 to console?
I don't think there's a chance unfortunately
I never played either, is it too late or there is still people playing online?
hll is pretty popular you will not have hard time finding a server to play
Harvey Plaza
For me squad 44 solo is easier than hll solo 😂

Sadly squad 44 is dead as fuck in Australia
It's ultra-playable at high ping. I played it competitively from Australia, won 1 EU ladder season, and top-fragged the losing side of 1 ladder grand final as inf. You won't be held back by ping.

Hll is much more fast paced. 44 is similar to the pace of squad.
