A unique ride in the UK, as well as being an Intamin with box section track. Shame Drayton is ditching this iconic ride from its logo. Drayton Manor is worth visiting to ride Shockwave and Apocalypse both standing up.
While the kids are in Thomas Land, I'm usually sneaking a cheeky ride on Shockwave or Apocalypse stand-up no-floor (the only side for me). Glad you enjoyed it, but don't tell too many people!
I think it's really underrated, probably doesn't help it was built the same year as Nemesis at Alton Towers and The Big One at the Pleasure Beach. Those two became household names in the UK, Shockwave not so much.
Went there today, had tons of fun and managed to get on the front row! Definitely my favourite ride. You do have seats, but that's just to steady you. It's mainly just standing.
It's kind of amazing how many stand-up rollercoasters were named Shockwave. Well, three of them anyway. Almost as much as sit down rollercoasters named that.
They use to have a shockwave at magic mountain in Southern California. It wasn’t scary at all. You can sit down slightly. There’s always a seat beneath you
@@themeparkreview I’m a annual pass holder so I seen the highs and lows the park been thought over the past 10 years. But the new Adventure Cove area for last year and the new Viking area opening on Saturday it’s really looking good for the park with rumours of a big family coaster coming in 2024. I really hope they bring back the pirate Adventure as the building been nearly all stripped but the ride system and boats are still in the building.
@@themeparkreview I guess this park actually cares about it and maintains it much better. Glad to hear it's enjoyable because going through a zero g roll standing up sounds very interesting
Never had the opportunity to do G Force whilst it was around. I think now though the park is in good hands with The Looping Group, new area opening in a week or so with the UK's first Zamperla Nebulaz. Wouldn't surprise me to see a new thrill coaster go in in the next few years. I'd definitely class this park as more family though so I wouldn't expect anything insane.
What camera are you using? I've seen videos from these cameras before but I didn't know it could record in different directions at the same time. That's incredible!
I would rather have a shorter ride that packs a punch and leaves you out of breath than a longer ride that just meanders around the track and limps its way into the brake run.
I never rode a stand up coaster. I cant really do loops and corkscrews, spins, upside down, etc while sitting. I doubt if i could stand and do it? Great videos, be safe. Thanks, Glen
Shockwave at Great America was a sit down roller coaster with 7 inversions. This is a stand-up roller coaster with 4. "Shockwave" was a common name used by several parks for some reason, but the rides themselves are very different.
