In my opinion Franz is a max player. His efficiency has gotten scrambled because the offense has no Identity at PG. Get us those shooters to spread the floor this year and not Paolo and Franz at Point Forward
I dont think the money has to work in a trade between Orlando and Portland in a Simons trade since it wouldn’t put Orlando over the cap. I think Cole and multiple future firsts would work if we wanted to hold onto Wendell. Im fine including Wendell and going after somebody like Hartenstein or Claxton in FA though. Tbh that might be a perfect offseason. I think Claxton and Hartenstein make up for the lack of defense that Simons would bring.
Well the money does have to work for Portland. And it does technically have to work for both teams, we just happen to have way more flexibility in terms of how much we can take back. For example, if the Blazers demanded JI, Dell, & Cole (the Magic wouldn’t agree to this) the Magic would have to take Simons + additional salary back in order for it to work for Portland.
@@SixthManShow Yeah if the Magic offer that much in terms of players salaries then Portland would have to match, but I was thinking about it from the opposite end of the spectrum where we would give up less in players/salaries and maybe include an extra first round pick and some 2nd round picks (i.e. Cole, 3 FRPs, 2 SRPs for Simons). I think I would prefer what Jonathan suggested though. Although, I can see Portland wanting an extra first instead of Wendell.
Maybe see if Portland will throw in Brogdon or Robert Williams to give them some cap relief. Cole, Jett, Wendell and 2 firsts for Simons and Brogdon/Robert Williams. Brogdon or Willams would be great back ups. A steal for Williams if he can stay healthy. Give him the JI treatment
Imo i think there is a possibility that Paolo feels a little disappointed that the front office didn't make any moves at the deadline. Even a minor move for a guard . Especially with all the injuries to the eastern playoff stars and the Pacers got to the ECF. That could of been us if we got a little help in the backcourt. You never know when you gotta go for it. We need to make a move and not waste Paolos rookie contract, kinda like Mahomes.
I see Franz at 26-28/yr with possible incentives, which is more than fair imo. Edit: I typed my comment before finishing the segment but I agree with Kevin. Like I don’t see Max but I wouldn’t be upset if got one bc the kids potential is through the roof.
I really think Franz's legs fell off from never getting a break in between seasons. I think that really hurt his shooting. I also think that with the Olympics this off-season, his shooting isn't going to be much better next year.
Too much for Simons imo. My main worry with him is durability. We have had enough guys that average 50 games a year. I'd make that same trade , plus abother first or two for Mikal.
Kinda insane how Magic fans are devaluing our own talent. Can’t pinch pennies for our guys when the cap exploding. Hell we paid a guy like Biyombo top dollar.

Franz is coming back a certified all star next season.. EVERYTHING improved
I'm hoping Dallas doesn't hold on to Gafford because he'd be tenacious to our Center position.
With Washington he played us HARD everytime.
