Note: One aspect we forgot to mention is that we do own Markelle’s bird rights, allowing the Magic to go over the cap to re-sign him. So there is a chance he could be re-signed for more than a minimum contract!

I give us a grade of A+++ we position ourselves for the next big move and we did not use any picks or young assets. Two 1st Rd picks in a loaded draft whatever we are missing we can get in next year's draft or by the trade deadline.

Magic fans we need to have patience because it’s a virtue that very few people possess! We have 4 more years to the process before we are in the Eastern Conference finals and the NBA finals so just relax! We have to crawl before we can walk all over the league! All in due time!
These re-signings, at the amount that was signed, seemed to be setting up flexibility for future trades. At least, that's how I'm looking at it from a bigger picture.

I totally agree in principle with what you had to say. The one thing I wish you would have talked about is the possibility that the Magic are still exploring a Carter trade of some type. They could have long ago closed off the 15th roster spot at a minimum salary. It is open for a reason. I too would prefer a point guard to start. The Suggs and Caldwell-Pope backcourt is great on defense but weak on playmaking. One of them would be better coming off the bench. They both would still get their minutes; just not in the starting five, The Magic are waiting for something, It is either a trade or a high value shooter willing to take a minimum for a year.
We don’t need a PG, suggs KCP are the starters. AB is the future PG and will replace KCP in 2 years.
Wcj won’t be traded until we have a better C than him. Goga will never be a starter in this league
Our players getting better is great, but most if not all the teams in front of us and right behind us got much better as well, Gary having a bad series is different though because he is our Vet, difference with KCP is he can shoot it better and is a better catch and shoot of the dribble/screen shooter which will help us and he has some bounce as well. Hoping Goga can crack the rotation but if we brought back Harris to give min to him over Black or Howard then idk why they were drafted in the first place tbh
Great episode, love the passion. Mo brings juice and attitude off the bench. I feel people undervalue mentorship, front office spoke highly bout the vets so not surprising Harris was resigned. CP3 could of been interesting for AB but cost and fit prob wasn't worth it. We ain't there yet and that's ok. Can't rush good development.
We cant judge the FO's off season yet, the off season isnt over. Free agency might be over but Jeff and AP have both said Trades are the new FA. Who says we havent resigned our players in order to have assets to trade for a player they really want. And if we dont, like you said its because they believe in the group and are investing in their future

Markelle fultz talk is so disrespectful when he was healthy and playing during the 22-23 season he’s one of our best players. Gets injured last year and was never really given an opportunity to get back on track. And now for for some reason he’s viewed as unplayable

We’re going to be in good position to add a star when Paolo is due a new deal. Plus we’ll have plenty chemistry with the current team at that time as well.

You guys are acting like there werent any obvious moves to be made. The issue isn't that they didn't just sign a bunch of people. The issue is they didnt address their BIGGEST need. Did yall just forget we need a real point guard who can shoot? We dont have a point guard, the one thing Paolo himself and all the fans, including you guys, have been begging for all season. Instead of signing a point guard on top of KCP we waste our money on overpaying Goga, and resigning Gary Harris who takes minutes from Jett, and will hurt the team when Coach refuses to take him off the floor.
don't mind the KCP signing, thought Goga and Mo are being paid their value and Hartenstein is worth at most 15 mil per year. The only signing I didn't like was Gary Harris. We definitely need a good volume shooting point/combo guard. There were none of them available via free agency - we have to trade for one like Anfernee Simons or Darius Garland and the only similar player to be traded so far is DeJuante Murray. If both Simons and Garland get traded and the Magic fail to get one, then this is a fail, but until then, there simply were no home runs to get. I would much prefer Gary Trent Jr. or Tyus Jones over Gary Harris, but neither of those signings are make or break type signings and we could still add Tyus Jones, but I still like Anthony Black long term over Jones. That said, Gary Harris's contract is very reasonable and every contract we have signed is highly tradable. Think Indiana signing Bruce Brown and using him in trade for Pascal Siakim. I am also very glad we didn't sign either Paul George or Klay Thompson - very different timelines with those two - KCP is a much better age and contract and is far more tradable. Not a great offseason, but if we somehow pull off trading for Simons, then it was a great offseason.
@13cozmik time is running out for a trade. If one was to be done, in all likelihood it would have already happened. And Tyus would be a huge signing. Offensively he's exactly what we need. Only negative is he's small. And Goga in a vacuum may be worth close to that but paying that for your third string center who barely plays is a huge waste of cap unless they have bigger plans for him, which at this point with Wendell still on the roster doesn't seem likely. Best case he just starts when Wendell is injured
There weren’t any obvious to be made to put Orlando over the top that would not jeopardize their future. I’m glad the Magic didn’t throw the bag at aging past their prime stars like Paul George and Klay Thompson. Hartenstein got majorly overpaid by OKC. KCP was a good addition, and people seem to forget Jett Howard didn’t play last year for the Magic and they just added Da Silva in the draft. They are adding three good shooters to their roster. I was miffed at first at the Gary Harris re-signing. However, his deal was cheap, he can still shoot and play defense, and it’s a contract that can be easily packaged in a trade. The Magic did improve by adding more shooting without sacrificing defense. The Magic now have easily moveable contracts that they can use in a trade at the deadline or after this offseason in case a star wants to move. Which can easily happen in Atlanta with Trey Young this season. It was not a great free agent class this year. The Magic didn’t have the assets to trade for a contract like Murray’s when he became available. Now, the Magic do have those trade assets if a player of that quality shakes loose next offseason which seems to have happened more often than not the last few. So, let’s relax and be patient. The core is still very young and still not ready to win a championship. The Magic weren’t ready to win one by the end of Shaq’s rookie contract nor they ready to one by the end of Dwight’s rookie contract. Next year is the third year of Paolo’s rookie deal. The Magic just need to focus on extending Franz and Suggs this year and Paolo next year. They also have two first rounders in a deeper draft next year which they can also use a trade assets. The future is still bright and the teams that are ahead of them in the East are on average older and have short championship windows.
@@WPorta1969 one thing I disagree with you on here - not having the contracts to trade isn't the only asset worth trading. I prefer Anfernee Simons anyway if he becomes available for trade - better contract and I like the player more, but we had the cap room to take on his contract and plenty of draft capital, that said, that might not have been what Atlanta wanted - the real sign if this season was a wasted opportunity will come if both Darius Garland and Anfernee Simons get moved and we don't land one of them. Da Silva is a nice player, but I do believe a small trade up and drafting Jared McCain would have gotten us a player with a higher ceiling and could have filled that whole we still have at point guard/combo guard. That said, there was only one player drafted after Da Silva I would have drafted over him and he fell to the second round and will be this year's GG Jackson I firmly believe - Tyler Smith. If the Magic had decided to be aggressive in the second round and trade for the first pick of the second round this year, or would have kept their pick last year and selected GG like I wanted them too, their draft's would have went from good to great, but they were still good. Not having a good option at a high volume outside shooting point guard was why I was so big on moving up for McCain who I believe could be this draft's Steph Curry/Donovan Mitchell.
@@WPorta1969 But totally agree on not signing Klay or Paul George, said the oldest I wanted a veteran to be on this roster was like 31 or 32, which is exactly what KCP is, with no major injury history and lots of championship experience to impart to the young guys. And his contract and age make him far more tradable if we realize he is little too redundant and we can add someone who fills more holes. Didn't love the Gary Harris signing, but it is for a very reasonable and tradable contract, unlike his contract last season. At this point, the player I would most like to add is Tyus Jones, but signing him or not isn't going to be a make or break type move, and ultimately I like Black long term more anyway. I'm also not completely forgetting Caleb Houstan, who, at 6'8" tall and a good shooter has the type of physical presence and skill that he can still develop into a quality rotation player - plenty of examples of his type growing into a quality rotation player after a few seasons of experience.
I’m all for every Magic fan having their own opinion of the offseason. Not gonna be mad and criticize at anyone’s takes. We all love want the best for the team end of day . With that being said, there wasn’t much on the free agent market. Cool. But we didn’t address the most important thing we need in playmaking and as much as I love Suggs , he is not a playmaker. AB would be a great PG off the bench. There’s a whole at the starting PG spot and i would give the off season grade a C UNLESS we bring in a playmaker via Trade, then i bump that up to a B . It won’t be an A cause regardless in my opinion bringing back Gary made no sense no matter the cost. Sure everyone was bad in the playoffs besides P but let’s not forget Gary is injury prone. I’d have much rather have a buddy hield. Move around Cole and WCJ find a way to make the money work. If we get a playmaker , never re signed Gary and signed someone else, I’m happy with KCP, then offseason grade would be A+ . Again my opinion from someone who just loves this team like the rest of us 😌
Also I wanna add that as good as we still may be , and yall might come at me for this ,we are easily an 8th seed play in team IF the East healthy

The Magic need offensive help even Banchero said they need an offensive player but what did the management do they go signed a player that can’t score. KCP last 3 playoffs game with the Nuggets 3pts, 9pts and 6pts he is the main reason they lost that series.
