It’s Discount Den not Denver Deals. Den is not a reference to the airport code, it’s a reference to a bear den since that’s their mascot. You get discounts on almost every route, not just flights to and from Denver.
Very good info here. I was completley unaware how Fronteirs baggage have gotten so "nickle and dime." But I did like how you stated the front desk clerks are looking for "rolling carrying on" luggage lol. Thanks for the tips!
You can bring any airline shopping bag in addition to a personal item and a carry on (on every airline...not sure about frontier, but I've done it on every other airline and it's supposed to be "legally" allowed on EVERY airline to bring a shopping bag from the airport. So on other airlines, you could literally walk on board with your backpack and both things. (Better yet, your could stroll on with a carry on suitcase, plus the xbox box--or a backpack, briefcase, large tote bag as a personal item--AND a shopping bag). I'm flying Frontier tomorrow and will test out the shopping bag on my return flight with something I can throw away. Like actual trash so they won't get frustrated with me for taking up time if I have to repack stuff into my personal item.
Just to note, I have always had a rolly bag AND two carry ons around the world (using the shopping bag method) and so far, so good! I do stack my personal item onto my rolly bag though, which I think helps, OR, if I have a backpack, I wear the backpack and put the shopping bag on my rolly suitcase. Never ever been stopped! This is my first time on Frontier though, and I'm using ONLY a personal item since it's a short trip to help a friend and round trip was $47 (worth it hopefully), so I'm curious to see how it goes. I know my personal item is far under the size restrictions so good there, but very curious to test the shopping bag policy on the way back with a bunch of (clean) "trash" stuffed inside just in case they make me toss it...
Okay so are you saying that a full backpack will still be okay as a personal item? Because it says it has to be a kid's size backpack or a purse etc. You're saying you can take your backpack full and also one item that does not look like luggage but like equipment groceries etc and they will let you on the plane, without charging you?
I woulnt try it unless your willing to pay at the terminal. As for the backpack, yes they word it in a way that makes you think you couldn't count your backpack BUT in the details area they say it just has to be certain dimensions, they also have a cubby you can check to see if your bag fits. I usually bring a gym type bag thats malleable/is able to be smooshed. Hard sided bags would not give you such flexibility
No, the backpack is the personal item. They can't stop you from boarding the plane with a plastic bag - it might be food or something you bought in the airport.
LUGGAGE TIPS 1, 2, 3 Tie two or three colored ribbons of different lengths around the handle to your luggage to warn others that this is not their luggage. People grab luggage at the turnstile and take it home before you ever see it. Anywhere you put your bag, it could be grabbed in error. Example: overhead compartment, unloaded from the bus, at the hotel lobby, at the turnstile... These ribbons make your luggage different and easy to spot when the piece is surrounded by 35 other black cases unloaded from the bus. Use 1” wide ribbons 14” long. Cut the ends at 45 degrees then seal the end with one drop of Super Glue to prevent fraying when you have completed any trimming. Scissor cut trim the ribbons to cascading different lengths after they are tied. If each ribbon is slightly a different length by 1/4” the color layers will all show up no matter how they drape. Tie the 3 ribbons as a sandwich, as if they were one ribbon. Use a man’s tie, a half Windsor knot for the best look. After it is tied on, the total length of the ribbons will be about 5 inches from the handle. It is too short to catch on anything. You can see this ribbon from 40 feet away. Perhaps tie TWO handles or RINGS top and side of the case. This way, it won’t slide around. This knot does not loosen. Put your phone number on one ribbon using a permanent Sharpie. Example: “Owner 454-333-7878” Choose one ribbon with an unusual pattern or fabric to really make it unique. Stand by the output hole port of the turnstile to reduce the chance of someone else grabbing the piece. Tie your skiies, duffel bag, and what ever with matching ribbons-even your computer case. If you are a Travel Agent, you could hot gold stamp one ribbon with your name and phone number. Send them a set of ribbons, red and blue and BLACK to your customer as a gift. Record this gift in your database so you don’t duplicate yourself. Buy a gold hot embossing machine. Gold emboss your business name on the BLACK ribbon. Put the customer’s name on it if possible. Pleasant color combinations: Red and blue Chartreuse and purple Orange and light blue Orange and yellow Gray and pink Green and yellow Red and Green Red and Gold Light blue and light green The third ribbon could be white, gray, black, tan Tip #2 Take a cell phone picture of the ribbon tied on. Then another picture of the full luggage piece. You now have a way to communicate “what it looks like”. Tip #3 Place a strip of colored duct tape on the inside lining to your case. Put your name and phone number on this tape. If all identity is stripped from your case, you have this to show. If someone steals it and rips off identity tags, you can show the police officer the inside tape.
This information is somewhat DATED. Frontier airlines only allows a personal carry-on that is 18 x 14 x 8 inches. If the WHEELS stick out beyond that.... SORRY thats a 50 dollar fee. If your bag is overweight... sorry another FEE. If you have to STUFF the bag into the "TEST-BOX" at the ticket counter.... SORRY... you fail the test (no stuffing)... thats another FEE. They pay the ticket counter folks a BONUS if they catch you STUFFING the bag into the box. Also... PRICELINE charged us about 45 dollars to "CHOOSE OUR SEAT"... but then when you pay for the ticket, you get a boarding pass that says.... "No Seat Was Selected" Therefore you get RANDOM SEATING (even though PRICELINE charged me for selecting a seat!!!) Be sure to research their recent rules before purchasing tickets.
Um, I had a big backpack 24", but I looked at their website, it said, 14" * 18" * 8". That backpack would be great for carry on, if I was flying delta. I found a 18" * 14 " bag at Walmart but jeez it cost me $52. I bought it anyway. I'm flying to Colorado for 15 days, and barely got 5 sets of clothes, and small electronics. I'm still worried whether it will fit inside the bin.
I actually asked a more than one Frontier agent at the ticket counter if you save money by buying at the airport (vs buying online) and they never gave me a straight answer.

The backpack and the bag in your hand. Is this not considered two carry on's?
