Currently in the Regular Army with the Signals. But... this looks like a really good course. Completely transferrable and highly useful skills. Her point about knowing how stuff around the house works is spot on. Even just basic plumbing or tool skills are worth their weight in gold. And what’s nice is that you’re PAID to learn it all. Win Win. Keep up the great work 👍🏻
Chloe, i have enjoyed 24 years in the forces as a regular soldier and 3 years before that, as a reservist. Its a good life, there are ups and downs, more ups to be honest. The opportunities that are available are unrivalled and cannot be matched in civilian guise. I thouroughly recommend it. I would do it all over again given the chance.
Her Majesty’s Corps was amazing, I say was as I felt the standards dropped severely once females were allowed to join the ranks. Nothing against them being able to think on their feet but the sheer physical aspect of the job the women simply couldn’t do. We are front line (in front of the front line on occasion) we have to be at our strongest 100% of the time.
If you’re female you’re neither a Sapper or a Combat Engineer. Completing a lesser course then males doesn’t count. Do some mgb, hgob and carry some hayricks. Absolute joke.
@@CorpsofRoyalEngineers Absolutely correct 100%. I serve with females that are integrated heavily and just as part of the troop as any male. I'm glad the likes of Iron Hand are no longer a part of the Army. Ubique
@@CorpsofRoyalEngineers Not really, just not the PC agenda driven nonsense that you and much of the world now pretend is real. Reality on the other hand is entirely different. The Royal Engineers was one of very few roles where women were not allowed, for good reason. I remember doing a CFT and for some reason we had some women doing there's at the same time with us... carrying ZERO weight. If you cant complete 8 miles carrying just 35lbs, how can they be part of a "team" in a four MAN lift building say an MGB bridge (or any other task where strength is a primary requirement)? How many lads never even made it in to the RE for being unable to complete the required number of chin ups in basic? and you talk about "sexist"? Hmmm.. Absolutely no problem with REAL equality, but there is no such thing. Meeting the same requirements is equality, being given special exceptions in order to do so is not. Lowering requirement standards for any reason (including "equality") results in precise that, lowered standards. Your "inclusive ethos" was forced on you by government agenda period. To the detriment of the Corp. Whilst Ironhand9096 didn't express it the now "not allowed to address the elephant in the room way" (and why should he?) , what he said was correct. I'm glad I'd left before this farce was implemented. Times have changed yes, doesn't mean its for the better.
Still in the RE Army Reserve myself, and really enjoy it. I did my concretors course couple of years back at 3 RSME.
Makes me want to re enlist in the reserves

Completed Field training back in the 1970s, a lot has changed since then. I'm sure mostly for the better.

Do reserves get RE stable belts from the start of training? I know regular forces only recive after passing 12 week combat engineer course.
Changed a lot since I joined as a TA SOLDIER IN 1982....
For better or for worse?
Does the London EOD 101 do this training? Or is their training different?
You should be proud of her
Can I join from a commonwealth country

No carpets in 84😂 and no recruits bimbling about because the NCO's were always on the prowl.....

See you can still serve if you fail Gunner selection their is no shame in being 2nd best 😂😂😂
Really fuffing really this is not the corp l served so disappointed this is what l feared we became
not another female, men not wanted in the army now,

An out dated, uneducated and sexist comment that shows you know nothing about team work or the inclusive ethos of the Royal Engineers.

@@keturah2613 indeed! LOWERED requirements for everyone, so that women could pass them.
