Marcus needs to be on the channel more often he was great
Absolutely. What a great personality.
Lol
2nd !
Kind words Curtis. Thank you!
Totally agree! I think he would be a great addition.
Give us more Marcus. His energy was contagious, and Andre was clearly have a great time!
Marcus needs to be a permanent employee of TFL!
Thank you Retired AF CE. And thanks for your service!!
I agree he is great!
andre going up sniper hill was like "hold my vodka"
"and watch this"...
Even when having fun Andre keeps it business lol. Marcus has great energy and made it fun to watch. Have Marcus come back but with Nathan, see how that combo works.
Just not with Tommy cause he'll probably find a way to damage the truck lol.
Thanks MC4D!! I'll definitely drop in once in a while!!
Amazing video !!! What a cool gentleman for bringing his truck and what a great day you guys had with all the snow on the ground !!!
Thank you Denis. Glad you enjoyed it!!
I've driven both single and tandem axle versions in the military. The tandem version actually came with a more powerful engine. It was actually much faster. (We used to drag race them. Lol) Like many military vehicles, they'll certainly go through a lot of s#*t in a lot of places. Drove one through a flood once in the field with water up to the tops of the fenders. Went through like nothing.
Here too...Ive driven this vehicle for many years in the military and this was one hardcore vehicle.
Bring Marcus to tfl he was great with Andre
Thanks Jones!! Nice of you to say.
Andre and Marcus are a good team. Thank you Marcus for showing us your very cool ride.
Thanks Gotcha! It was fun doing it so win-win.
Marcus was great and had good knowledge of his vehicle. May need to put him on the channel more often.
Great content, Andre! Thanks to Marcus and his LMTV!
Thanks Pat!!
That was a fun and informative video. Marcus is a clean cut professional looking guy. I think he should be in more of your videos.
What’s the torque rating of that engine?
cool owner even cooler truck ... been looking at these for a few years now
Thanks Ahmed!
You can drive these through deep water! During our units mission down in Houston, Tx during hurricane Harvey i drove through flooded streets where the water was up to my headlights! Turn off the fan and we became a barge on wheels. Boats came up to the back dropped off civilians and went back into flooded neighborhoods to rescue more.
they can try drowning it in the fish pond :D
You have to check your 4wd system. Those front wheels weren't spinning.
It is because front wheels had traction
@@yigitx7074 one front wheel and one back wheel should turn at the same speed regardless of traction. If a back wheel spins and no front wheel spins the Center diff lock or transfer box is not locked between the axles.
Yeah transfer case/center dif did not appear to be locked.
Good video, I am not sure the transfer case is working quite right because all the tires should have been spinning. My experience is with the older ones though.
maybe the other side front wheel was spinning
I was looking pretty closely at the end and your correct the fronts were not doing anything at all the backs were spinning and the front were just plowing not working at all
Marcus is great! I hope you have him back on the show again.
Andre, When it starts to slide, *get off the brakes*, especially while going backwards. The owner told you to get off the brakes at the start and you ignored him, and then did it again at the end.
Yes it will still slide while the tires are turning slowly but you'll have *a little* directional control. If you lock em up, you have zero directional control, and you only got lucky here because the road up/down sniper hill is somewhat rutted. Otherwise it probably would have tried to swap ends, and you risk rolling over as it swings around sideways. Same thing applies if you ever find yourself sliding down a steep hill in slippery dirt/sand. Stay off the brakes. I've been in a situation where I was sliding backwards in sand, front end trying to overtake rear, and actually had to get on the gas to increase the tire/wheel speed so I could regain some directional control.
Roman?
@@jamesbeaman6337 Sorry, meant Andre. I'm terrible with names. Advice remains the same.
Great video! I've been watching TFL since 2013 approx. and this has to be the first black guy that wasn't a rep at a press conference or auto show. Nice to see 👍🏾
Spicing it up. haha. Thanks Charles it was fun hanging with the TFL team. Glad you enjoyed the clip!!
deuce and a half........The first time I actually got to drive one was in early 2005 in Iraq. My first sergeant asked me if I had any experience driving this thing. I told him no and that I didn't have it on my military driver's license. 10 minutes later he comes from the motor pool and hands me the license saying, you are driving this thing tonight. During my maiden trip, we ran into a complex ambush. I had to take the dang thing off-road and into the desert. We bounced all over the place. I was scared shitless (but didn't let it show). Needless to say, I ended up living through the experience and only ended up with a few neck burns from the brass that was falling from the gunners' hatch. Over the years and subsequent deployments, I ended up driving this thing off and on. Still my favorite truck in the Military arsenal. It will go where you can't walk. Super reliable when properly maintained. Just seeing this thing makes me want to do proper PMCS.
I remember getting these in to replace deuce and 1/2. Loved that truck. D-13 3/229th. After driving one for a weekend or more your f150 will feel like a sports car. Put a A92 on the back and you have a camping rig
what is an A92?
You should add Marcus to the channel, he has a great personality.
Thank you Jackmerius! Very kind words!!
This guy is awesome very informative and really good on camera
Dang it, this is the truck I needed 25 years ago. Nice sunroof👀
gunners hatch.
@@msuda6188 i know 🤣
That was fun, good video guys! you need to bring Marcus back, he seems like a good dude!
Thanks Mark Mark! It was fun shooting it. Glad you enjoyed it!!
The owner of this thing has great energy and film presence. Classy and knowledgeable dude for sure! Great and interesting video!
Excellent report! I really enjoyed it.
It's amazing that they made these trucks without locking differentials.
Deejayimm. Those were my exact thoughts when I was researching to buy. It would have made all the difference at the ranch.
Someone should of told Andre that he has a bugger sticking out of his nose in most of the video lol
Marcus was amazing. One of the best videos yet..
Love the bovine crowd!
That was a cool episode, I love the all conquering military vehicles, great job tfl!
Digging these larger vehicles! You guys always have top notch content and everyone works together well, like a fine tuned machine.
You guys made an amazing team in this episode. This episode should be nominated for the TFL Emy Awards. I back everyone about Marcus he should be a permanent figure in future TFL. I bet Andre had a flashback GAZ 66, and Kraz. I'm saying that because of the Buhanka. I think he was driving it in the USSR Military (just a guess). By the way bring the Buhanka for a test while is still snow.
Marcus was amazing. I mean what a wonderful on camera speaker! Great smile and video voice
If you hold down the drive (D) button for 3 seconds it will lock the differentials.
Great job guys, nice truck Marcus, I’ve driven those across Iraq, in the Texas floods and all kinds of places, yours is in a lot better shape than the ones we used in the Army though 😂
Did not get "stuck". Apparently it is only 17,000 lbs, (repeatedly said in the video)not 23,000. And for some reason, was not utilizing the 4WD system going up the hill. As the front wheels were not spinning on camera. Wicked amount of snow fall there tho. IF it had truly got stuck, nothing on that ranch would have been pulling it out that is for sure. lol Marcus is awesome! Fantastic content.
@16:19 the cameraman was like "oh sh*t..."🤣🤣🤣. Thank you TFL & MarchalXL for showing this truck. Absolutely loving it..🔥🔥
Thanks Lion!! And yea I spoke with him after he was a bit shaken haha.
I guess your country neighbours are going to love you guys. (When the novelty wares off.)
Yeah, a sleepy cow pasture has become the TFL playground in close proximity to other animals and a home. I'm hoping there won't be any friction withe the other property owner(s) as TFL develops the property into something quite a bit different than it was.
It won't "wear" off, because the neighbor fly's a plane. So it will be a noise battle. lol
“What happens if we slide down?”
Andre….. “hold my coffee”
This is the best video in A VERY LONG TIME!
Marcus seems like a awesome dude! Great video!
That was a "HOOT"!! Loved It!! I want to bring the 1973 Mercedes Benz Unimog 406 and try the hill... it'll only take ten minutes to get up there but we will track every bit of the road!! Great Video!!
Great show, now need to convince wifey for this twuck. Marcus is awsome
Awesome truck. Awesome video. Lot of fun.
Awesome video! Especially liked the recovery points and the statement that we needed more weight on a 17,000 lb vehicle. Just curious if there were any issues with licensing a vehicle like this.
The state in which I live will not let you title retired military vehicles for "normal" road use. I think you get a vintage military vehicle title which come with restrictions like use for cars shows and such. Doesn't mean you can't have fun with it though. I do believe that there are states that will let you bring these into compliance with normal vehicle specs and get a "normal" title.
@@willb3018 I think severville Free states will let you titel just about any vehicle.
Cool truck, and Marcus clearly enjoys talking about it! I love that Marcus is in a puffy winter coat while Andre is wearing a sweatshirt and hat :-)
Beast machine, love the big trucks! Marcus is cool and knows his shit! More of him and the big military rigs please.
You should open up the fence and make this route on the center of your property, for more GUNNING without worrying about neighbor fence :) That was cool!
I have always wanted one of these vehicles and this makes me even more. Awesome!!! Show.
Ok... Marcus is pretty badass I hope we seem alot more!
That vehicle is awesome!
Thanks Bruceyyyyy!!
@@iAmMarchal Awesome! Subscribed!
@@bruceyyyyy glad to have you Bruceyyyyy
Great show
Marcus brought some needed positivity to this channel. Good on him!
Marcus is a happy joyful guy
Ooh! I like this guy! Hope he can come on more guest spots in the future.
Damn that's one badass unique rig! Marcus was awesome, would love to see more guests with their unique rigs on tumbleweed!
Nice truck and a very pleasant guest!
Thank you Nikolas. I appreciate it the kind words.
Great fun and Marcus is great on camera!
That was great and Marcus is awesome.
Great guest, great truck. Offer him a spot!
I need one of these to convince those not familiar with yield signs when entering the freeways here in Arizona.
Awesome video!
Nice! More Marcus!
Thank you Anthony. We will definitely collab again soon. ua-cam.com/users/MarchalXL
Loved the video I want to see the maverick hybrid on the dyno just to see how it performs on the dyno
Awesome video 👍👍
Great show.
Awesome ride!
Thanks Torsee!!
Looks like it wasnt fully locked into 4wd because only the rear wheels were spinning going up the hill.
and was the CTIS set to snow?
My thoughts also. I saw no front wheel spin. Does it have front and rear lockers?
@@shitloveaduck very true about locking the wheels up. I drove quite a few in my military days but not over anything that would be challenging for this vehicle. We left them in 70/30 because the terrain on our training exercises weren't really rough enough to need 50/50 or low range. Yes you are correct, they are full time 4wd default 70/30 with selectable 50/50 and low.
@@shitloveaduck thank you for ypur service as well!
Great VIDEO
I’ve put a few hundred miles on the LMTV, a several thousand miles on the M1070 tractor with an M1000 trailer.
🤔Love the LMTV M1078, maybe for Christmas? Daily commuter, tough to get into parking ramps. Those in Minnesota, who drive in ice/snow 6 months a year, would say TIRES and weight above the back axle would not hurt. Shout out to Midwest Military Equipment, Washington MO. A candy store for guys.
Andre keep the tires turning when you start skidding to maintain control, also try backing up that hill putting the weight on the lower axle. Marcus seems like a cool dude too!
Nice work guys
What a ride! Perfect for a first date!
Cool truck! Nice guy!
Sick bucket list truck
That would be a great platform for a camper.
Hey Steve. I agree. And that is the end goal.
Love This Video!!
Now that's a pickup!
Can we see the inside of the house?
It would also be cool to see the buildings painted in American Barn Rusty Red. More trees and planting would be nice, make an forested alpine style course theme, and maybe a picturesque static shooting area to showcase cars and do walk arounds.
They did a whole video on that. Showed inside all the buildings.
@@BrantTheResidentCalvinist They did NOT show the inside of the house. ;) (rumor is someone is living in it)
@@WW-wf8tu I’m sorry now that you say that I remember. They showed everything but the house.
I loved driving those, they’re beasts
With lockers, these military rigs are the next level civilian overland platform.
I just can't imagine changing a tire. It's a deal breaker unfortunately.
But, great rig, owner, and review!
Great video
Man, that is a beast...so great
Cool truck and cool guy!
I’ve had that happen delivery fuel to a farm location. Spinning out on the road and sliding backwards.
I’d throw some chains on the side of that truck. It doesn’t need doubles so would be heavy but not as bad as some of those. When moving drilling rigs we used to have to throw them on all the time. They use them on the highway all the time as well. The steep hills have the chain up areas.
Darren! I agree chains would have made a world of difference!!
That is awesome. The owner of this LMTV is a joy to watch. What a cool person. I love the Unimog also however this looks pretty legit.
Thank you Blueridgeheadwaters
Cool truck, I'd love to have one
I FLIPPLIN LOVE THIS RANCH!!
Airing down makes the tire longer (think tank track) not wider. Yes the sidewall bulges out a bit, but it is not contacting the ground.
Cheaper to buy than a new pickup truck. Maintenance and operation costs would be a significantly higher though. How many gallons of oil is a oil change? Replacement tires $$$? Not available from Tirerack or Discount tire. Found them on the Goodyear truck tires website, but no price listed. Don't worry about the loading height at Lowes. Either pull around to the loading dock or have them use the fork lift. Or just get all the spectators to help. I'm just having fun with my comment. I've wanted one ever since I found the Gov Planet website in 2015 via a "Dirt Every Day" video on the MotorTrend channel.
This truck's were designed in Austria at Steyr truck's and built in the US. I drove the Austrian version of it in the military there, Steyr 12M18
Marchal was great on here. When you look at all these new trucks that are $60-80k, the $35k he spent doesn’t seem too bad. You could make a badass overland rig with this. I’d love to know the gas mileage he gets. I’m guessing 5-6mpg.
50/50 .. I was expecting that to be centre diff lock. Clearly not the case because you had rear wheels spinning and not at the front. Can't beat diff locks.
Just before this I watched a guy drive an original Fiat 500 (with 17 hp), I had my pic taken of me standing next to it and it was only as high as my waist! Now I watch this video, quite a difference between vehicles! 😂 This thing is awesome and I agree with the others, we want more of Marcus!
This video is such a perfect representation of America.
Love the M1078 and varients. Thinking these are pickup trucks on steroids, I was so hung up on buying an M35A2 which seems like horse and buggy compared to these. Ideally sticking with the 2.5T range, but some beauties in the 5T range M1090 and M939 and even some 7T = ZOINKS Also love Midwest Military Equipment or Oshkosh Truck Sales
What a great guy!
