Wow! It's amazing what you can do with a piece of wood, a few basic tools, and 30 years of woodworking experience. There is no way that mine would go like that.
A few pieces of timber to practice with, and you'll manage to build one perfectly within a day.
Learning to manipulate what you're making into something positive is a goal within itself a challenge for all ov us
It is the 30years woodworking experience that really bothers me.. I am currently 74 and wonder if I can manage just another 3?!!!
I would be more successful if I paid $200 for it rather than buying the tools to do it by my klutz skills
@@RobertBee-fs8hv send me 200 ill send you one
That's a beautiful piece of wood, and nice piece of craftsmanship there 👍
great video, but it really drives me nuts when people varnish wood stuff after installing metal pieces
I'm ignorant. Can you tell me why that bothers you?
@@pex1111 😎
Looks like oil. That wouldn’t matter.
@@pex1111Because varnish doesn't go on metal. So instead of needing to clean it all off of the metal afterwards, just varnish it before installing the bits and pieces. Saves time and looks cleaner.
Also some varnishes can hurt some metals.
@@pex1111because he has untreated ocd, most people don't care and think about this because its absolutely pointless
This guy is way better than any blabbing tubers craftmen, and this video is like a short movie.
I could really watch and rewatch multiple times without getting bored of it.
Great job in any possible sense! 💪🏻
Explaining what you're doing isn't blabbing.
Not only do i want to try out one of those, i want to buy a set of chisels! 🤟
my thoughts exactly , trip to harbor freight to get a cheaper set before buying a better set to see if i will like it !!!
lol😂 it must be a man thing I thought the same thing. all my chisels are bashers need a new set. My question is what kind of wood is that looks amazing
As a hobby blacksmith for nearly a decade, those look handmade...and incredibly simple to make. I forged a traditional socket handled woodworking bevel back chisel with laminated construction (mild steel with an old file for the cutting end). Never thought to forge simple carving chisels but then again I don't do much carving.
chisel,s looked pretty sharp eh .🙂
True that my first thought when seeing this .
A true craftsman by any measure. The timber looks like Indonesian Merbau. Simple but ingenious design. Top job Mate 😁. Cheers from Michael. Australia.
I believe it's actually African padauk.
@@davidreid2301 - Not sure which one one of you is correct but my guess is it is wood and from some sort of tree! LOL...
@@davidreid2301 Thanks David, it is a beautiful timber, to compliment a very nice build.😁
@@irishkelly654we always have to have one with a dumb response 🤦🏽♂️
Dont think its padauk
Neat design and workmanship! And the filming almost looked like stop-motion animation!
Great workmanship!
Printing a plastic version would make for a profitable option for yourself.
More wood, less plastic.
As a Toolmaker I gotta say this is great work man and a testament to getting the job done, absolutely love it….hell I may make one out of aluminum now.
Very nice and powerful slingshot....like it a lot....wish I had one of those!
Very nice! Would have been great to see what he used for an arrow and what the fletching was like.
Probably just a stiff species of reed. That's what most of the world used until modern materials were made. It mostly Europeans & East Asians that needed heavier arrows because of their need to shoot through plates of metal. Reeds and are literally the only thing in nature of the right size & shape that doesn't need to be straightened before getting made into an arrow.
A truly brilliantly talented Carver, Carpenter, Machinist, Engineer, and Artist. Amazing. 🧐🤔
Well, you're easily impressed.
Must be an average Joe.
@@Tinker1950 Well, John, when the day comes we witness you build innovative, finely crafted, functional survival tools (from junkyard scraps no less) then further build a UA-cam following where you can parade your finished products before millions of people, then “maybe”, your words will hold some small modicum of merit. Please act maturely and learn to control your jealousy. Have a great day.
@@Tinker1950i just wanted to tell him, he's just tinkering✌️😁
Unbelievable... I want to make one... I am pretty sure it won't be beautiful like he made 🎉
Now that looks like a fun project.
Not complicated by a lot of electrical equipment!!!
Very sweet adaptation
Great build, beautiful product, and mostly done with non-power tools (drills get a pass). Thanks for posting this.
Brilliant work, dude! Really stunning slingshot! 😃
Happy new year! And stay safe there with your family! 🖖😊
Incorporating a forearm brace that a wrist rocket has would add strength and accuracy and stability. Not something I've seen before.
Absolutely amazing bit of woodwork👏
Excellent slingshot for hunting balloons and Coke boxes.
Great concept ❤
Beautiful wood and workmanship.... respect
Now I just need to find a woodworking genius to make one of these for me.
Neat design, though could be made far more powerful by making the handle longer so that longer elastic bands could be used and pre tensioning them so that they continue accelerating the projectile over an extended distance. A brace similar to a wrist rocket would allow for greater tension to be applied.
And imagine if he ad coil spring inside, o boy o boy, how smart lm.
yes ,i see that 100% genius bro !!!
Until you get a ball bearing between the eyes? Hahaha
Man I don't know anything about wood working but even I can appreciate how gorgeous that piece of wood is on the inside
i really enjoyed watching this video. the wood used is gorgeous there are a few folks saying what type it is but would really love to know 100%. the minute he started applying stuff to the woods finish i though, well i wouldn’t have done that… but once he was done it looked amazing! still wood look great unfinished too❤
Looks like iroko or mahogany?
@@DJ-uk5mmreminded me of purple heart.
100% purpleheart, it'll turn brown over time though and many are very sensitive to the dust. Tough wood too.
Beautiful! I was thinking of buying a bow just for fun but this seem more practical. Thank you for the video!
Cool
Bloody sensational. The finished wood looked beautiful.
A true craftsman. Spectacular.
I am very jealous of the guy that listened to the wood working teacher in shop…nice work!
Beautiful work and amazing wood .that will last many years !
I would like to buy this slingshot if they are for sale. Beautiful piece of art work. Thank you.
I am really curious about the variety of wood you used, it looks like some sort of exotic hardwood with a beautiful red color and tight grain.
if you go through pallets ,they are made with exotic woods sometimes , all the wood used to make em are hood woods !!!
Looks like mahogany to me, but I could be mistaken
Im gonna guess bloodwood. It’s the only one I’m finding that matches the before and after of the wood in the video, and is found on non-English speaking countries. (Figure they don’t speak English, since I haven’t found any actual reply to this question by the artist, just likes, lol) Someone else guessed Rengas (tiger wood)- but i don’t see the color variation Rengas has. Just google dark red wood- there are quite a few varieties worldwide.
Looked like Purpleheart to me. A very dense hardwood.
It's cocobolo. Very expensive. Interesting choice for a something like this.
What a beautiful piece of wood! What kind is that? Wonderful craftsmanship! I want this cool toy too:)
Класс ! Отличная работа !
Посмотрел от ДУШИ твоё новое изделие!!! БЛАГОДАРСТВУЮ!!!
Beautiful work. Thankyou for the upload!!!!!
This brought me back to the days of wood shop in middle school. Loved that class.
Beautiful craftmanship!
Every young fella would love having a father to show him how to make this. Great bonding and skill sharing opportunity. The Woke would outlaw it.
Outstanding craftmanship
Brilliant design, excellent work.
The ingenuity of some people never ceases to amaze.
Not sure I would have put stain on while the bearings were in, but cool project.
It should have been stained with the hardware removed for sure.
Some beautiful work!! So satisfying!!
Wow !! No questions asked you can tell he is for real old school craftsman !!!! The Best !!!! Iv only seen this one video.
Beautiful workmanship
GASP! Pardon this old Colorado Hippies' ignorance, friends, but what the HECK kind of BEAUTIFUL wood is this?
Most eldest Son has BLESSED us with TWIN Grandbabies!❤❤ NINE months ago I was making wooden toy cars and the occasional fishing lure in my ice COLD garage... NOW Papa needs some tips for engaging (and safe) wooden toys for his Little Ladies.
Thanks for listening. I DONT get to talk to grownups very often!
Wow. What beautiful work.
Suprised the central axle was a dowel and not steel. Cool design!
Wood work Is such a cool skillset.
Thank you! Brilliant result. 👍
Superbe design & execution,,,,Joerg Sprave is jealous right now....
Amazing work. Never seen anything like this, its brilliant.
you and jeorg sprave should brainstorm some day. i'd love to see the features of what would come of that meeting of minds.
That's absolutely brilliant. Ingenious. Well done
Beautifull wood. Gorgeous color!
Are there any measurements or parts lists available for this? I'd love to try my hand at making this!
My best guess is that the geometry & dimensions were something he pulled out of his derriere. Good a way as any of designing something like this
@@devilsoffspring5519 that’s probably right. That still leaves the pulleys and the rubber cord and any other parts.
Beautiful and awesome! Wish you sold this, would DEFINITELY buy one of these!!!
very nice... great project for those who posses woodworking skills of that level.... I do not...
What kind of wood is that it’s beautiful
Gorgeous wood!
Brilliant video..and filmed in landscape....great...
Beautifully done! I just wish that i still had me shed and tools! Was a pleasure watching you work! Happy 2024.
Surely you have a men's shed organisation in Britain.
This is genius! Well done!!!
Yes Definitely Brilliant
Got to love hand work, such a different end product than mass machine produced.
A functional piece of art. Nice.
Brilhante trabalho !
Não temos ésta Madeira vermelha no BRASIL! QUAL O NOME DA MADEIRA? FELIZ ANO NOVO IRMÃO!
Parece Pau-Brasil .
Creative, intelligent.
Just terrific.
Spent COVID lockdown practicing my slingshot skills. At this point, if I can see it , I can hit it. Fly on the wing 20 paces, gone. Throw a penny in the air I can nail it twice before it hits the ground.
Absolutely beautiful and useful.
Buen vídeo y buen trabajo
I would purchace one just because of the craftsmanship.
Interesting solution🙂
Very nice
Brilliant craftsmanship.
I’d buy one !!
Fabulous - beautifully made and the only weapon I've ever seen that would be worth owning just because of its appearance.
Fantastic craftsmanship!
Take my wallet!!!! Great design and workmanship!
I would definitely buy one of those.
This would’ve been cool to have when I was a kid
Amazing work and satisfying video!
Man, that's a pretty piece of wood!!! Wow. Great craftsmanship!
Bautiful work.
Thank you! Cheers!
Nice workmanship but more importantly - where can I find wood like this???
sometimes in pallets !!!
Lmfao youre not finding *that* wood in a pallet
You have to go to a lumber mill to get specialty wood. Alternatively you could find someone who specializes in exotic woods called a lumber distributor.
It's the easiest to find wood like this online but you'll have to specify how much wood you'd want. Just go to google and type in exotic hardwood near me I am sure tons of results will show up for you!
Loved how you handled them tools! Great sling..
This video was so satisfying to watch. 8)
such beautiful wood and you stained it brown.
Woah 😮 this is a beautiful wood! It would look gorgeous as an old vintage clock or maybe a chess board 🥹 but what a cool thing you made!
the wood used was gorgeous.. i can almost smell it :)
Master craftsman
Beautiful piece of wood.
another awesome creation bro , you never disappoint , job well done !!!
Fantastic, thank you.
Muito bom 👍
Brilliant. You make it look easy
Great, It amazes me how skilled human hands can humble CNCs or set of power tools and human brain humble an Autocad.
Thanks dude
Give it to me 🤩🤩 looks absolutely awesome… great idea and work 👍👍🤩
