wow this is so awesome.. my son who is 2 years old looooves monster trucks too especially grave digger. I would love to build him one too in the future. I enjoy watching your videos. keep up the great work
Next time, use an air hose. Works like a charm. I'm building a 1:2 scale of Mater right now. Might have to build a Monster Truck to haul behind Mater!!! lol
I wondered if a release agent of some kind would work? I had that sic feeling in my stomch watching you have to destroy that mold and all the hard work you had to put into it! Great work by the way. Thank for sharing.
Toilet-bowl wax, with some added wax. Paint on the male mold while molten, then smooth while warm. You want about 1/64th inch or .4mm thick. After fiberglass cures, apply warmth to melt the wax - and the fiberglass comes off easily. Note that this built-up wax, etc, can manage undercuts as well.
I knew it going into it :-). The time and effort to make a solid mold and pull parts with nothing going wrong is scary. This method is fairly fool proof.
To this point I used 1 gallon, I ran out and needed to run to Home Depot to get a small container of bondo resin. I think I still need to add one more layer to the inside to stiffen it up slightly. I’d guess 2 gallons

I thought maybe the foil tape was going to act as a release agent somehow
Looking forward to the end result! 👍🏽
