Seriously though, who gives Mike a thumbs down ?!! Thumbs up every time for me 👍🏼
@Bowhunters probably just you
Easiest part of the day thumbs up within the first 2secs of the video
Colour bashers.
If you get stuck up north does it go against the traditional stuck list 🤣🚽🚿🧼🧽😂
Thanks Mike for GREAT videos. Much appreciated. God Bless you both.
Thanks! 🙂
Most peoples’ hobbies include playing an instrument, doing wood work, playing sports, building models, so on and so forth.
Mike Mitchell’s hobby: slightly bigger in scale. 😂
Is it me or does this tractor seem quieter than the Rx models.
I like big articulated tractors on tires ,it just looks right.
Mike is missing those long straight fields where you can get a cat-nap before you have to turn the tractor around.
I would just like to point out the fact that versatiles have steel tanks.
Versatiles are great
Having to make the multiple turns to avoid wet spots or obstacles keeps you awake or if you doze off a stuck or wreck is guaranteed 🤣😂
So how many acres are you and Ashtyn farming up North this year?
You have the best suscribers on You Tube, of course, you are committed to everything you do. You give us 100% value.
mike I got a question how many psi do you run in the triples on the 9620r and are they even or less as they go out from the frame
Mike i really enjoy watching all your videos one of my favorite farm channels God bless you and your family farm
Were there any issues with the new wiring you had to install on the 9620R, in order to run your drill?
Great video as usual, Mike. Thanks!
A driven chevron tire will clean itself. A non-driven chevron tire will “clog up” unless the tread is reversed.
They also wear less on the road when reversed.
John Deer has Dozers.... so push away those Brushes Trees ans Sloo´s... (And the JD Dozers are Liebherr from Germany)
Deere makes their own dozers. Have a factory in Iowa.
I agrees with the plastic however I think you and I both know that the Ideal wasn’t going to be saved with a firetruck next to it. A melting out burn on a tank seems better than a metal tank that can build pressure and have an explosion effect. Does that make sense?
Enjoy your youth and energy Mike. At 40 you lose some and at around 50 it gets worse and you have almost no energy and want to sleep alot. Do not burn yourself out. Love your videos. Keep them coming. Take care!!
How is the transmission compared to the rx
How about some high res shots of the tractors / equipment for screen savers and wall paper?
I was going to ask about the stuck list, but Gavin beat me to it. We just finished our barley harvest yesterday, best yields we ever had, hope yours is just as good.
All that turning around is why we don't run over 12 row equipment in georgia. So many small fields. We can only dream of a field with 2 mile thrus
What part of GA you from? I know of a few farms in Lee and Sumter County with 1 to 1.5 mile thrus. If you ever get a chance to ride through go across Lake Blackshear on Highway 280 going west and turn north on to Lamar Rd. It will take you through what's known as the lake farm. It was, if I'm not mistaken, at one time a 4,500 cropable acre farm with just few heads, dirt roads, and fence rows in it. If you turn south you'll go through tons of large fields headed towards Leesburg and Albany. There's several 200-600 acre and larger fields scattered through the area. I've worked in a field that was 1,500 acres on the lee Sumter line, all that kept it from being bigger was 2 paved roads cutting the north and south ends off. Pretty neat being on the north end looking south and seeing cars go by looking like ants cause they're so far away.
@@TheEnginneeringFarmer I'm in Bacon county about 2 1/2 hrs east of you
@@sharpshooter7127 Alma is only about an hour and half from us, use to go through there all the time going back and forth to Statesboro when I was in college. Y'all got the next best Dairy Queen to Sylvester in my opinion. We farm a lot right off Hwy 32.
i thought your tires backwards on the seeder is not because of compaction, but if its get wet or muddy, the tires will turn the longest when the threat is backwards, because of the scooping effect.
They will be more likely to travel straighter in wet conditions. A little less compaction as well, a tire in the driven direction is moving the dirt to the outside of the tred, reversed it goes to the middle.
Just like a fwa tractor, get in the slick without the front engaged you never know where it will dart off to.
Years ago there were two direction arrows on industrial and some ag tires sidewalls, one way for powered and the other for unpowered.
2 or 3 Mile long fields haha. And then theres us with 1,2 acre fields all scattered around. life could be so easy with big fields
Tyres running backward on your carts and drill is all to do with positive action on the tyres. The design of the tyre is is such that tye are self cleaning. When drive they need to be arrowed forward. When driven by the ground the need to be reverse arrowed so the self clean. Nothing to do with compaction.
10% slip is about right for tyres by the way.
11:05 we all know what that means
Is there a saying somewhere from your Northerner’s that goes “we farm in straight lines by accident? Just because you have so much to go around.
Barley should do well around "Swampy Yorkton", lol, cheers!
Keep up the great videos Mike and Ash, very entertaining and informational.
Thanks for bringing us along for the ride! My seeding season here in NZ consists of 200ha in the spring and 300ha in the autumn with a 4m vaderstad rapid. I don't know how you find the time to make these videos but I sure do appreciate it!!!
I love the look of the triples of that Deere
So just out of curiosity how many years do you usually get out of a set of tires on the drills and the cart cart. Mine are both only 4 years old but I am not looking forward to when I need to replace the tires on them. Obviously the 1350 cart will get worn out faster then the 950 cart. Also I use my 620 Steiger to pull my bigger drill instead of my 629 quadtrac the dual tires seem to do way better traction wise then the 36 inch tracks. Would stand to reason that John queer with triples would pull that cart just fine. Love the vids mike keep it up!
I think he said in a recent video that they have had their drills 6 years and all tires are original except a few that were replaced and he would need to replace them next year anyways. So 7 years if you put a lot of road miles on them like Mike, longer if not.
The cart tires he said would last a lot longer
U guyzz worked that field up too right, so hard to compare when base isn’t the same eh. On hard packed them tripples prob be close with the tracks
Most people have no idea what sleep deprivation is. Amazing how you and Ashton have the same love and how much you appreciate the earth. Good job.
Are you familiar with a singer : artist named Fred Eaglesmith?
The triples seem to pull that drill just as well maybe even better than the ones with the tracks and can definitely tell its a smoother ride in the cab.
Is the RT still cheaper to run than the RX?
Check out the build of the stinger planter 1000s vs the CIH 9100s. The stringers have thiiiiick steel fenders, the CIH have thin things and weights on the rear.
You two are a great team and obviously have a future in the North!! Building your lives together with hard work…can’t wait to see the next gen.
These are the people that make a great life for themselves and this is how its done, through hard work. Unfortunately, the youngins now a days just point fingers, cry, complain and expect everything to be handed to them.
13:19 why does the tread affect compaction? didn't know about that, thought they where designed like that so they could clean themself from mud an d stuff when spinning
(I'm no farmer btw)
how many cars had plastic fuel tanks and were rammed from behind and caught fire as you say most dangerous . videos iv seen combine with plastic tanks with steel quicl blast with extinguisher its out plastic tank run like hell.
Get way more yield going around wet water holes than going through dry ones. Sad fact that dry water holes will be a dry year or water table is low for area. Water begets more water.
Hi Mike I been now watching you and your family. Your wife is working hard today . Like you . God bless you and your guys and Family
Thanks Ashtyn...........your great !! You need to start your own videos hint hint. As for you MIKE.......you do ok too, just not as good looking for sure.
@@kaideneadie6531 why ? Did you watch the whole thing. She let Mike seed so he could do a video. Watching Mike drive a truck is painful.
No doubt about it. Ashton is totally awesome. Wish I had a wife like her!
Plastic fuel tanks are a fire hazard waiting to happen. They also take crucial weight from the tractor or header .
As you say less compaction but also reversed tread offers better flotation.
Mike I just got my new FHF hat! Good thing because my last hat got absolutely destroyed when it fell into an auger.
You are absolutely a Wonderful Blessing Mike! My younger Brother from Saskatchewan! Thank you for the wonderful Videos and all the information! It’s just like on the job training! It’s going to help someone! ❤️😏🖖🏼🇺🇸
You know you're a farmer when, steel fuel tanks, give you wood, ha!
Take the 9620R down south, and do a side by side with the RX..
Maybe the RT can go up North
Mike i have a question, Do you and Ashton have your own stuck pot up north?
Drive tires are pointed forward (at top) for cleaning out in mud. The mud is pushed out toward the side of the tire and falls away. Non drive tires are pointed backward for the same reason.
to add to the drill and cart tires, the reason they use them and run them backwards is because when being pulled in mud that treat in that direction is forced to turn therefore not dragging and staying on top of the surface better.
If I could trade places with anyone in the whole world, it would be you Mike. All the money or fame or stuff means nothing to me. You have a great family, a real wife, an awesome job and the coolest stuff. 31 years on this planet, it's been a great ride so far and I really wouldn't want to trade it for anything but given the chance, I would trade worlds with you anyday. You'd probably enjoy heavy construction equipment and what not, maybe not fixing it or doing blacktop but it's real, honest work!
Thanks
just like to say thanks to you and ashtyn for letting us follow you in your daily tasks, look forward to the daily videos, god bless and take care both of you
Hey Mike, the Versatile Delta Tracks (DT) have steel tanks in the centre of the tractor, that's a plus for weight distribution.
That John Deere 9620R is a nice looking tractor btw. 😉
That’s a major con. Need the weight on the rear axle. Deere had the mid tank forever and it’s garbage.
@@stirv6462 This is what the Versatile website is telling, ..... it's not my opinion, I'm NO expert, probably you're right. 😉
- Weight Distribution.
" The steel saddle fuel tanks help the DeltaTrack maintain an even 50/50 weight distribution front to rear regardless of fuel level. A crossover tube carries fuel from side to side to maintain even fuel distribution. The tanks are mounted as to not affect the front to rear weight ratio. "
@@ytfan3815 no problem, I’m not arguing, just my experience. Companies say whatever they need to these days, the marketing has to say their design is best. 👍
@@stirv6462 Back in the days I only played with my 1:32 scale models, that's my experience ... 😃 😉
You talk about slippage two tract 4 tract tires etc but i will venture to say you will have less strain on differentials and trannies resulting in less failure with a little more slippage verses less slippage
Thank you for a good Saturday sir. Yes we’re getting rain More rain than we need right now Northeast Missouri. Mark twain’s home
Nice soil up north Mike. Fingers crossed for a good crop.
Mike you going to replace those tiny pizza cutter tires on that tractor
Great Videos Mike! Keep Em Coming! These videos are the best thing that ever happened to farming!
Hey Mike first time to your channel. Dude, wow I have never seen someone farm as much as you do. I am from Nebraska in the midwest of the US and to see the fields you farm, they are huge! We have so big farmers around here but you win buy a long shot.
Keep up the great videos. I also love how detailed you are at explaining your crops, equipment, land and especially how you have so much fun with your employees. They have an amazing employer so keep it up!
Be safe and looking foward to more amazing videos.
Thanks Joel! And welcome 🙂
Thanks Ashtyn for letting mike borrow you tractor.
Hot chick that can run anything Mike you won the lottery....
Mike are the steer tires on the drill the same size or is it the recording making it look that whay
Great video Mike good luck seeding your crops
Darker soil on your northland then your other stuff
Try farming Pennsylvania bro!!!! 5 acre pcs with hardly a flat pc of land
And 10 power poles in it.
So mike how many acres are planting way up north
how many acres does this seeder plant per hour?
You’re in Northern northern farmer territory lol
Thanks for the video and your time to do the video keep up the great work you do on the farm
M9ke imagine trying to video, go around a slu, watching slip gauge, and put dodging high lines how would u do it
Awesome video. Ashyth you are awesome also.
Hey Mike. Are you planting up around Saskatoon or even further up North like Pa
Go about 300 km East North East of Saskatoon.
Around Tobin lake area then been there quite a bit growing up
Wow Look so Good Job😘👍
Thank for taking us along with you Mike. You're right about that, the good Lord, and Mother Nature, will take care of the rest, you did your part.
This is a true statement. I was told this years ago. I laughed. Well it’s true.
Pull off. 620rx vs 620 tires
Hey Mike does this tractor shift better than the RX’s
I think it's the same transmission, but me myself I'd take one of these over the RXs
What's the footage on the drill?
drivin around all chaoiticLIKE... but... not really all chaos...
you *ARE* working the land, right???
you are masssssassssasssagin the DIRT....
it's a good thing... ;)
Like that Deere with triples! Thanks
You don’t know how good you got it, Mike. You got a keeper.
How do you keep track of all your fields
Are you ever gonna try your 9620 at home
lovely video!👍👍 love the look of the triples over the tracks.😉
16:46 the floater tires look like they are different sizes.
They're the same size. The glass on the window is curved which creates that effect.
yes it looks to me the one on the left looking from the tractor is a different size.
Mike gos around & around & around we go.😀😀😀
How many acres do you have up there? I hope you take at least 2 combines up there for harvest. You’re acres per hour is down and your pulling 84ft or 25.6 meters for our friends to the north. If you run one 50ft or 15.25 meters you will be looking for a window to jump out of it will drive you nuts!!
Holy cow that tractor is loud!!
No wonder Ashtyn wanted to go trucking, I just came home from work and my eyes are closing on their own just looking at this. Not because of you but, 4.7 miles is damn slow. 🤣
Excellent videos Sir. Would you like to do one to talk more about GPS and auto steering and what the operations were like before this technology came to you?
Now you know how we feel in Ontario, we have exactly 3 fields wich run for a mile or more. 260, 300, 700 acres are the field sizes, the 700 acre one being by far our largest field. We're always turning.
I know how tired u r mike I just finished 120 000 acres with 4 other people on night shift in Australia
first of all how would you calculate slippage?
you dont have abs on the tractor or the cart so there is no way telling you what the wheelspeed difference is
these day`s (europa) whe have abs on everything :P
You probably love "going around" things, not back and forth 1000 times, like home, lol?
Mike. I see a heatwave in Sask this week. Hope it's short lived or you get hella rain. Like we do in N Ireland👍
Reference the wheel slip it looks like your on lightly cultivated ground????
Awesome Video!!
Can’t wait to watch Thai and keep up the good work
mike ,,, show us what your fields look like on google earth so we can get some perspective
