    Has there been an episode where the losing contestant acted like the losing contestants of other reality competition shows?
    One reason why I love Forged in Fire is the contestants are so humble.

      Not in this series. Other shows PUSH the drama, sometimes even creating fake issues to force the participants of these shows to have tension on PURPOSE (Adam and Jamie from Mythbusters for example) because "it sells."

      I've never watched the full episodes, but in another YT clip one of the contestants said that for the episode that they were on, the clip removed the losing contestant refusing to shake hands, and arguing with the judges. (S3 E13)

    I still think it’s insane some of these guys do this type of work and have never used a welder

    • @apeture_explorer4810
      @apeture_explorer4810 4 роки тому +8

      Welding has never been an absolute requirement or constraint in smithing. Modern smiths may utilize it for convenience along with a slew of machinery, but I can definitely see why others would prefer work done by hand, and welds aren't always cosmetic either.

    • @dogman9291
      @dogman9291 4 роки тому +4

      I mean bladesmiths did this kind of work for thousands and thousands of years without welders, so it's not really that surprising.

    • @stinkyfungus
      @stinkyfungus 4 роки тому +4

      He said never used a MIG welding rig, more than likely he has used or exclusively uses the less expensive and less equipment intensive stick welding process.
      (Doubt he uses TIG, since buy in is a bit more than a MIG setup)

    I get that it needs to be standardized for testing, but it's sort of silly to say it's a "signature style." If someone's signature blade is outside of the parameters, they're apparently screwed.

    • @isaac2990
      @isaac2990 5 років тому +3

      The style can be longer or shorter to fit parameters though, I don't think it's that huge of an inconvenience

    • @elias_xp95
      @elias_xp95 5 років тому +7

      You can have the same parameters but do it in a totally different way.
      Car manufacturers for example have legal parameters, has to have lights, seatbelt, rubber tires etc. But there is still a variety in style even among the same class of vehicles.

    • @andrewyork3869
      @andrewyork3869 4 роки тому +1

      Plus signature style is a bit more complicated then this one style. Most of the time it will be there way of beveling or shaping of a certain style of knife.

    • @dogman9291
      @dogman9291 4 роки тому

      I'd agree, but honestly the things they test the blades on are very broad and apply to all blades. If your knife is imbalanced, it is a bad knife because it cannot do its job as a knife properly. That's not a matter of style, that's a matter of being a knife.

      it was the episode Tabar (India for axe). The challenge was to use lawn mowers to make a knife. In the words of J Neilson (no, seriously, this is what he said to the guy) "this show is called forged in fire, not ground in fire". Grinding to make something is called stock removal, not forging.
