HISTORY I don’t understand this show. You guys made a metal forging tv show and they only forge 1 thing. (Blades) I gave this show a chance because I wanted to see them forge complex machinery parts. The click bate on this video made it look like these guys were gonna make Springs; but instead they were melting down this useful machinery part and sharpening it.
@@lukasjay1783 I really hope this is satire
@@lukasjay1783 🤦🤦🤦
@@zdobysawzasada7236 that's an interesting emoji. after rereading my comments I made almost a year ago I'd love to know what you're thinking about that.
Can you make forged and fire but with food and kids with judges one of them being gordan ramsey
Oh wait
Bill’s blade looks like a drawing I would bring home after a hard days work of kindergarten. 😂😂
4:25
it's not even the form of a knife.. thats a paddle 😅
"Spearpoint bowie"🤣
Looks more like a nail file
I feel bad for Bill
Looks like he tried forging with cement and pop cans lol
Today you are gona be meaking knife from iron in your blood
Really challenging your problem solving capabilities
Fun fact: you could make a 6cm long nail from the iron in your blood.
@Arczethus it is true .
@Arczethus Nice shitposting.
First insert a magnet into your body for few months. Followed by removing magnet with attach iron , repeat for few life times, oh but you got only 3 hours to complete
I like when they do the countdown, no one is even close to finished but by the time he counts to one, everyone is magically done. So dramatic.
WTF was that, Bill?!?! Looked nothing like a knife. 😂🤣
After beeing President his standarts must of droped even more.
That's what happens when you have five mjnutes to make a knife out of trash
@@brandonfoley7519 Mike had the same amount of time and his looked fine
Did you see the temper too???
That was just straight from forging!
@Wario Andretti Not even. He made a fail.
So they show the dude struggling how to weld.
But they dont show the dodgy work that last guy did.
I was thinking exactly the same thing as I watched this...!
This is just 5 mins. The complete episode is of 1 hour.
I hate cliffhangers
The one bill made ... Looks like a butter knife
In the end he made great knife tho
Soooo this is like masterchef but for metal workers?
Actually it is more like chopped, except chopped would be a more fitting name for this show rather than the real one.
Im a metal worker these are blacksmiths but yeah what you said is correct.
LOL HAHAHAHAHAHA ^
Mastercrafter to be precise
Pretty much
4:31 "I can wiggle the wires, inside the taco."
I will wiggle in your taco😉😉😉
*Clap Clap*
Rise73 G giggity!
Bahahaha
Your profile picture made me think that I had a hair on my screen
So they let someone who has never used a welder try and figure it out without instruction.
Welding is pretty safe, just don't look at the bright thingy and dont touch the hot stuff
@@dasheer2727 wrong
I did it. Taught myself stick first with a 120 volt rig. Now learning flux core with a 220 volt rig. Biggest problem is most people don't have 220 available. I use a generator to power my shed and welder. His biggest problem was he doesn't know how to use a helmet. Can't learn to weld if you can't see the weld pool. If you're a blade Smith you should know how to electric weld. Is it 100% necessary? Of course not but if you want to be the best of the best you need to know what to do with anything..
@@mrmurphy172 yeah, but you didn't do it under a rushed environment. Therefore this comment doesn't really fit the situation. Thanks for the input though.
@@mrmurphy172 no 220v? serieusly?

I'd like to see Bill's whole process. Just to see how you can do something so badly.
Just tryna make a quick buck if he wins
Trust me, you really dont
Who else clicked on the video thinking that they were going to handcraft a spring?
No one?
Just me?
Okay....
Literally just did. Quite disappointed really.
Same
Kentin LaBeau me too....an very disappointed
Me too.
I deed
I saw kids in high school shop class weld better than that guy on their first time 😂 don't be afraid of it dude. It won't bite!
BlueNinja 3000 degrees of metal melting, retina burning equipment, but it doesnt bite so thats nice
Well he didn’t have an auto darkening helmet so there is a possibility that the glass in that helmet was a shade or two darker than it should have been. Also the welder was a small cheep one that is not the easiest to use... mig is one of the easiest types of welding but only when good equipment is used
@@boringbrian3603 yeah but it's still a Lincoln, I could do better with a 100 dollar amico stick welder from Amazon...
Sam A I could lay bear better than that with a paper clip and a double a battery
It will hurt if you don't use the mask
I love this show but just once I want to see the judges try one of these crazy challenges. That would be entertaining in my opinion.
watch 2nd and 3rd season
klatuu1976 they probably can’t
Ben Abbot was a contestant on the show. Twice. Won both times. Doug Marcaida is just a weapon specialist, not a blacksmith. The host is an ex-Army Ranger and understands enough about blacksmithing to talk about it, but not enough to do it. J. Nielson is a Mastersmith and David Baker is world renown weaponsmith.
Check out the show. They got a "beat the judges" thing going on where the judges are pretty much taking on the same sort of challenges
They have judges challenge each other show.. please watch ...they are beast that's why they are judges
I feel like mashing several springs together then twist and hammer would create a nice Damascus pattern, also i have no idea what im talking about 😆
*me, an expert* : smash it hard enough so it can keell !
All the steel is the same.
If I recall, the patterns on 'damascus' comes from the different types of steels reaction to a chemical I think.
I'd try to make a skeleton knife, only pulling the springs to make holes in the finished product, also I have *NO* idea what i'm talking about..
Damascus is made by using two different metals in layman's terms u use a shiny metal and a dark metal forge weld them together make your knife and when your done you etch it in acid and the dark metal darkens and shiny metal stays shiny but you won't be able to see the pattern if its not dipped in acid it will just look like a normal knife Alec Steele makes some excellent video on this if your interested
@@jaredvas1986 Correct! Also the amount of carbon in each type of steel will affect the end result.
I never knew they had this type of competition I learn some new every day!
“I think welds are kinda ugly” I’d say that too if I were looking at welds like yours bud.
I love this show so much.
4:03. Jay rubbing Salt into the wound of the guy who doesn’t know how to weld
Best show from history channel
Being a welder, it’s a legitimate trade that makes way more than you could ever dream of. WELDER FOR LIFE
Everyone gansta till the springs come out
I bet I can't even tighten an anvil properly...but Bill..your blade looks like a burned drumstick🤣🤣..the fact they are zooming and showing it with background music is more funnier
I love this show
I have never watched one of these on UA-cam and I was talking about it yesterday and today there’s 5 new videos on my recommend, government is 110% listening to our conversations
Steven Herfst no the government isn't, the advertising companies are!
When making canister steel from springs you should cut the springs length wise and then interlock them like a key-ring as tight as possible insert into canister, add grex, away you go.
Those beards are so majestic... I can't stop staring at them.
"I hope the judges could appreciate my lack of abilities..." sure bro
Bill's knife looks like it's made of regurgitated playdough
Bill's knife... *will keel.*
Because I died laughing at that fuggin thing.
"mig welding is the easiest form" I wanna see that judge out there trying to teach himself to mig weld for the first time in a time crunch
he is saying the guy should already know how to do it
@@Iceican welding is not a part of smithing tho. Smithing is an art and welding completely ruins it. Welds are just a lazy way out
@@thundereagle97 welding is efficient, not easy, saying that is just an excuse for people who don't use it.
@@Iceican welding is most definitely easy and far easier compared to actually working the metal. Welding also just ruins the piece
Iceican Aaron can’t weld, that’s for sure lol
Too much cool!
I remember in college a required course for engineering required us learning about various shop processes with hands on experiences. One week we had weld with flux core none of us having actual experience. As you can imagine it was quite humorous with sticks getting welded to the table accidentally flashing our eyes etc
They wrong af for putting that piece of garbage on a stand like it's a knife lol
It was really hard to not laugh at Bill's knife but it slipped out 😂😂😂😂. But he did the best he could
4:22 Bill! Unfortunately your blade is not even a blade... that's why we sendin you home...
I can wiggle the wires 😂 lol that blade was straight garbage should have said you didn’t make the cut right when the timer ended
They need run time, and sometimes its just best not to rub it in someone's face when they already know they are going to lose
A blacksmith that cannot weld is like a lawyer who cannot read
Bill reminds me of the guy in Deadpool that shows up after seeing the ad because he needed a job 😂
I do welding, and I know how it feels when you need to weld something and don't know how.
Plus the fact he had no protective gear on and he flash burned his eyeballs right away goes to show the lack of know-how and little respect he has for this competition he should have been let go not the older guy. That man child had no respect for the tools he was using.
KingTroll Demon you should rewatch it
@Swango I agree
@sgt It just kills me everytime, when i could of saved up to an hour or two, if i would have spent the extra 15 min. doin prep work on the part and 10 min. fine tuning the settings from the beggining🤦🏻♂️.
4:24 Suddenly a metal worker who can't weld seems like a seasoned craftsmen in comparison.
0:49 “I wsnt something with nice curvs” dawg I felt that
I’m gonna sign up for this show and be like, “I don’t know what steel is, let’s do it”
Love the pun: "spring" steel
Your challenge, you should choose to move forward, gentlemen, is to make a Claymore from this bucket of rusted Hot Wheels we found at a garage sale. Your 26 minutes starts.... 5 minutes ago. Good luck.
It will keeeeeelllll.....
thats the word bro i will reply although after 2 years hahaha
You will make your signature blade in your signature style... Also make it *EXACTLY* like this
Damnit Bill we were rooting for you
Its a cool idea, too bad its the same format like EVERY OTHER show
It's been going on for 4 years now, I think they're doing pretty good
You got any other forging competitions to watch? What do you want them to do, fight each other?
@@ZSmith-yy4lv its a ridiculous idea however I’d watch that
All us welders had that problem buddy. Hahaha 😂
Bill representing the bloods soowoop
The host sounds like his nose is clogged lol when I hear it I feel like my nose is clogged
That dude beard is awesome
Nobody:
Anyone that dosent like winning: I'm going for damascus
Coming from a welder it wasn’t the welder it was the operator and welds are beautiful
"I dont like welds, I think they're ugly." Obviously coming from the guy that cant weld. Anyone can appreciate a nice weld
The judges commenting is adding more spark into fire
Gentry from king's landing could show these folks a thing or two! Lol
Would love to see an episode where the judges compete through some of the harder challenges. No one would forge with that spring steel, unless they were experimenting.
ive done it by choice. canister damascus is the easiest type. stop capping
3 hours goes by in an instance when you are forging.
When you think your blade is bad: 4:19
Oh yeah
I blacksmith that can’t weld is like a chef that can’t make a burger
UA-cam obviously really wants me too watch this, so I guess I must lol
Bill screwed that one up good, go tf home cuz😂
They should change the name to will it "keel" lol
Looks like the comment section never seen history channel before, trust me guys. This show is wayyyy better at the final stage
They say the same thing every time “due to the catastrophic failure of [insert the blade mistake] your blade cannot continue to be tested in the forge”
“it leaves lacerations. *It wEeL kEeL”*
Shoulda shown us Bill's process lmao
Bills knife 😂😂😂
A lot of dudes hating on the guy for not knowing how to weld, I think he just wants to be a pure blacksmith without using modern technology, I can respect that. He thinks welds are ugly compared to metal that's been carefully and artfully forged. Can you really disagree? MIG welding is the quick easy way of bringing metals together it's not as attractive to him for obvious reasons.
Wtf did bill make ?😂😂
this show is actually pretty entertaining and intense and i know nothing about blades and welding they added season 6 on netflix
You know it was a failure when a piece of spring hit the ground. After he made the blade.
I guess that's not what they imagined when they were told they'll give them spring steel :D
Bill took the short bus to the forge today
2019 to 2020 im watching you
“The History Channel”
I’m 13 and I have welded many times lmao
Never tried to weld using TIG or GMAW methods. I was taught only welding by SMAW.
Bruh this is like masterchef except they forge blades
Pause at 0:57 all the judges look like they're reacting differently to seeing something very offensive
Came for the spring from the thumbnail....
Learnt how to forge....
Smart to take the blades away before elimination
It will be Steeeeeeeeel
Bill thought it was a cooking show and by the time he realized... it was too late
what weld is thats 😂
That man looked like he just wanted to be in Tv
This spring will keeel.
10min to figure out that welder is not nearly enough time.
As someone who completed welding school 6 months ago, I agree.
@@fredfry5100 10 years from now you won't agree.
TheSweetestJerk he shouldn’t have tried
Approved Dust he needed a closed box for what he was trying to do, and the only tools they had to make one with the time limit is a welder.
@@janbadinski7126 You don't ask an expert how much time you need to learn something, because they don't remember. You ask the beginner. Their memory is recent.
😝 I love this show .
Alec steele would need 10weex and 10 episodes to make anything
And he'd make it a masterpiece made with passion.
Rome wasn't build in a day. Something great takes time to make.
It woulda look really good though
You forget that Alec is putting on a show for people and he works things out for his really fancy stuff as he goes. He has done videos for projects that take him very little time and if he wasn't focusing on making a fancy Damascus pattern, then it really wouldn't take him very long at all. If he had to, I think he could pump out a knife in 3 hours, fairly easily. Probably would have been working on the handle before everyone else was finished with their forging.
Master chef vibes
Lmao he can make knifes but cant mig weld
Oh yeah yeah
We found them my brudddaaa oh yeah yeah
I feel bad for that old man
Maaan.....this video change my life. This is The video that made me start forging
It will keeeel
Hello there video that has nothing to do with anything I've ever watched but is currently in my recommended, how's it going
