Specifically, the 80’s/90’s/early 2000’s dolls & their themes seemed much more elaborate & imaginative. I feel like there was more attention to detail back then, but that would be my personal opinion.

It’s because their quality went down I guess due to financial issues. But also statistically children lose interest in Barbies, at a much younger age, compared to over a decade ago when the average age when children stopped playing with them was at the age of 8 to 10.😅

The reason Midge being pregnant was so controversial is because she didn’t have a wedding ring I believe.
Since they sold the Midge pregnant without her husband, that Barbie was “promoting unwed mothers” so people weren’t happy.
Even though there was a wedding line for Midge and her husband

I agree with you that Barbie had just about every career that a kid could imagine. When I was a kid back in the dark ages, my Barbie was a nurse and/or a resistance fighter saving G.I.Joe's bacon. (My dad's influence in watching all of the WWII tv shows.) As an adult collector, I buy everything astronaut related and I have that 80s pink astronaut in the three racial types offered and all of her extra fashion packs. I thought they were campy and fun. I have Barbie and all of her Rockers friends too. The military themes in 1991 were a response to Desert Sheild/Desert Storm in Kuwait. I remember the 1989 hoopla because Barbie was the pilot and Ken was the flight attendant. Then the African American Barbie pilot was dancing with the white Ken in Paris and it made the news in the US. Barbie as a train conductor was fun because she had a train playset that was pink of course. I know that I write too much but I just got a nostalgia attack watching this one.

A shop girl, and probably others I’m not aware of . The Barbie Millicent rogers line had a business woman. Great video Joey, you just missed Barbie as construction worker. And I didn't know there were so many astronaut and presidential candidate dolls. On the other hand, so few singers and actresses compared to pediatricians and vets🙃. And please make a series about rockstars. It will be a delightful trip down the memory lane🥰

I feel like if they ever make a movie about toys going on adventures (more like Lego Movie and less toy story) the running gag should be that Barbie is trained in absolutely everything and has an outfit for everything. Someone gets hurt? "Don't worry, i'm a doctor!" *somehow changed into a pink doctors uniform*

Wow, I can't get enough of this series! I really enjoy watching this type of videos on your channel (along with, well, all of your videos I rewatch from time to time, but this "all Barbie's smth" is on the whole other level), not only they fascinating and fun to watch, but they're also educational. It's nice to see the history of different bits of Barbara's legacy. I've learned a lot, and now I feel more knowledgable lol. Plus, you were the reason why I became obsessed with holiday dolls, I hadn't seen such a comprehensive video about these dolls before your video. Although, I have to admit, I spend more on dolls after these videos, bc I see so many great things. Like the mermaid video - I want them sooo badly!
I would love to see you elaborating on ballerina and rock star dolls! I would also like to see every horse and carriage video as well, there're some very interesting ones
Anyway, thanks a lot for this video, it was grand! 💗💗💗

i have the video game designer one! i bought it when me and my friends were on the mall and saw it on a toy store. I thought i was tripping because, aside from the red hair, that doll looked exactly like me down to the clothes i was wearing at that time 😂
I obviously had to buy her lol

The funniest thing is that Barbie used to be a Mary-Kay and Avon distributor LOL that didn’t age well. At least most of the Avon dolls are stunning.

My favourite barbie career was the vet one, mainly because it came with a dog and cat,but I LOVED THE DOLL. I also really liked the singer barbie with the purple hair that came out 2 or 3 years ago
Also I'd love to see a rock star list😃
OMG I HAD THE ACTRESS BARBIE AT 12:46, I STILL HAVE HER DRESS

I feel SO SORRY for the people who have bought the idea of Barbie not being a feminist icon, most of feminists know that she is, and we really don't know how anybody would buy the ridiculousness of stating the contrary. I have started to think that it's just a case where anti feminists come up with a stupid idea (as always) just to create a debate around sth that no one even cares and then pretend it was us who 'started it'. 😂

I had the dentist from the 90s! She used to say "you dont have cavities, smile!" (Maybe not exacly that cause i had a latin american version, so she spoke spanish). The 90-91 military barbies was probs because of operation desert against iraq. While the 98 football was probably related to the World Cup taking place that year

I think the 1991 military barbies probably were related to the Gulf war in like a "everybody hates this war...maybe barbie will help" way? Also, I desperately want that astronaut barbie from the 80s in the purple puff sleeve outfit.
