  • How to get your keyboard's chord name, grand staff, and light up piano roll using Chordie App.
    By setting the view to separate windows, then using "Window Capture" within OBS (or whatever video mix program you're using), you can then really customize the look of the piano midi note info to suit your needs. Including adjusting opacity and adding filters! Useful for teaching, producing, recording tutorials, and jamming with friends and letting them see the chord names as they show up!

    Hi, for some reason, perhaps due to OBS updates, using Color Correction to invert the white to blacks, and vice versa, no longer works. Anybody have a solution?

    • @RobbieSko
      @RobbieSko  2 роки тому

      Hi Sahin, you can use OBS (free) and a separate camera angle to show your fingers as you play the ordinary piano. To get the light up notes with MIDI you would need a keyboard, or on a more advanced level to use something like PNOscan technology by QRS music which I believe can get MIDI from an upright, but I'm not too familiar with it.

    • @RobbieSko
      @RobbieSko  3 роки тому +1

      Bobby Allen Are you on Windows? I use LoopMIDI. From FAQ on ChordieApp’s site: Windows doesn’t allow midi devices to be shared between applications. You have to use LoopMIDI to act as a bridge between your DAW and ChordieApp.
      In general terms, you have to do this:
      Install LoopMIDI and add a port
      Open your DAW
      Enable the LoopMIDI port you created as a MIDI Out destination in your DAW preferences.
      Do not enable it as a MIDI In destination. Doing so will create a midi feedback loop and LoopMIDI will mute the port.
      Create an External MIDI Instrument track and set the destination to LoopMIDI port
      Open ChordieApp, and set ChordieApp’s midi input to LoopMIDI port.
      Each DAW on Windows has these settings and options hidden under different menus.
      Here is a search query on youtube you can use to see videos of how to do this for specific DAWs: ua-cam.com/users/results?search_query=Chordie+Windows
      If you want to play midi files through ChordieApp, drag the midi file onto the External MIDI Track that is sending to LoopMIDI and press ‘play’.
      Note: ChordieApp only responds to Midi Channel 1 at this time.

How did you “label into” the “ existing Create/Select source” to capture Piano roll, chord name, etc.? When I click + on window capture I do not have any of the Chordie views to select from when I press the up/arrows on the right. What am I missing! All I get in the window is: (doc) desk top picture, (OBS) item 0 , and (OBS) OBS 27.0.1 (Mac) profile untitled, scenes untitled! 🤔Thanks for your help! Tim

      @RobbieSko  2 роки тому

      Hey Tim! Make sure all the separate windows are all set right before you add a new window capture! So first open chordie - set it to separate windows - then add new window capture and you should be able to see the options. You will have to add this in each time you open obs unfortunately, but it should only take 30 - 45 seconds. Hope that helps!

      Hey John! In OBS it sometimes helps to add audio as an external/Aux audio device instead of adding a desktop audio source. Let me know if you need any clarification on that. For me, I use my RME interface which comes with TotalMix so I can use that software to route the Ableton audio to a certain channel that I then select in OBS as an external/mic audio source. In the past I’ve also used a Yamaha AG06 board with Loopback to do this, but the RME’s are great for routing flexibility.

      Robbie Sko I keep getting latency with the chordie app. I’m running OBS through NDI to Zoom.

      I’ve done as much as I can find with adjustments in OBS settings. I have a 2014 MacBook with 16gb of ram. It should be able to handle it I think. 11mbps of upload speed. Thanks for the help man! Your channel is awesome!

      @@KrisYunker Thanks man! OBS through NDI? You may want to try OBS Virtual Cam which is built into the latest version of OBS. However the latency into Chordie is strange, what are you driver type settings and driver selected in your DAW? Any latency going from your midi controller to your DAW? (excluding Chordie)?

      @@RobbieSko I tried OBS Virtual Cam on my Mac and it didn't work correctly so i kept searching on how to stream from OBS to Zoom and I found NDI. There is zero lag with everything in OBS but the second I open Zoom It starts bugging out.
      Hardware I'm Using is a 2014 MacBook pro 16gb, Behringer UMC202, Roland A-800 and an iPhone as a web cam via Epoc Cam.
      Software I am using Mainstage with Keyscape and a condenser mic for talking. I have had no Latency with that set up going to Zoom with Soundflower. And It is also fine in OBS until I try to go to Zoom with Via with Audio coming from Soundflower. There is a lag on the epoch web cam, and chord but not my internal cam on my computer.

    Hi guys!
    When I use Window capture for chordie app in obs , I'm having about 1 sec delay everytime I hit the keys on my midi controller but it does not have any delay with chordie app by itself
    Would appreciate someone to help me out here !! Thank you!!

      Hey Andrew! So the issue's with OBS? after updating OBS and windows, do you get the same delay with both window capture and display capture?

      Try lowering your buffer size
