Thank you for this video! I prefer to say “my son who has special needs” instead of “my special needs son” because he is so much more than his special needs and differences.
Yes, that is a better way of saying it, Leah Tackles Disney. I base my titles off of popular searches. Thanks for watching!
Live On Purpose TV Yes your title did not offend me, just sharing something that makes a big difference to me with verbiage. I think it’s a nicer way to say it, and something to keep in mind when speaking. It seems like you’re saying the same thing, until it’s pointed out and you realize one sounds like a label and one is describing a part of the person.
I have special needs as well and sometimes I stutter if I’m nervous.😁😬😀
Thank you for this. I watched it before starting my new job working with children with special needs for the first time.
Good luck with your work, Wendy Brown. I hope the advice helped and you have a rewarding career.
I’m on the same boat right now!
I am Musa and I need your help madam to help my sister
Thank you so much for this video! I started my first placement with special needs within the school board today, and I feel much more confident in what to do when interacting with my children!
Melissa Wu, so thankful you were able to see the video. Good luck.
I wish I had this kind of guidance growing up. I wish I could have this kind of support now even...
BABALON, we are here for you.
I'm so glad your wife is helping in these videos. How are parents of special needs NOT taught all this . It's a daily battle but our kids are so amazing and unique and as mine get older I'm really trying to see who my child is not who the world thinks they should be .
Samantha Miles, I love it when Vicki is able to be there for the videos. She adds so much. Thank you.
So happy to hear the wisdom of Vicki as well! Thank you for the wonderful experience you are both sharing!
She's pretty awesome I think. Thanks Lyndsie! DrPaul
I’ve been searching for information on parenting children with special needs in the context of not pushing them too hard but not wanting to hold them back.My daughter is risk avoidant with sooo many things, as a general rule I try not doing things for her that she can do for herself. However, getting her to try something scary or something she’s done before that has gone wrong makes her so intimidated. I want her to believe in herself and try. Also, having special needs means there ARE limitations.
-It’s just me and her so she doesn’t have siblings or another parent to fill as a motivator in life so I could use some help
Gshkent, as she sees you deal with these things, it could be a good example for her. When something doesn't go right for you, show her how you get back in there and try again.
kids with disabilities only have different abilities. dont ever say we have limitations! it makes it look like yall dont think we can do things
I have a child with special needs. This video is very helpful. Thank you! 🙂
TipOfTheSpear, you are very welcome.
Thank you SO much for this Video! It's Exactly what I needed to hear in helping to support my Child! Information is power, I feel so much more empowered for many more success stories than the struggles! Keep up the great work! 👍🏽❤
Thanks for your comment Sindy - I'll make sure Vicki hears that. Honored that you are watching! DrPaul

G t, thank you for watching.
Thank you! My son is 8 years old and has Adhd. I definitely deal with this.
Good luck to you, Erica.
This is so inspiring not only to the parents and family who've special needs kids or people but also with the other younger generations like me. Aside from this, the government also should make this thing one of their top priority. Aside from senior citizen issues; child or human trafficking; poverty; racism; and the latest CoVid 19. Not just the Government but also us civillians shoud also prioritize this kind of issue because it could relate to all.
Damzkie Cazenas, thank you for watching.
Thanku🥰🥰🥰

You are welcome, Maria Waqas, and thank you for watching Live On Purpose TV. We have several videos on autism and PTSD/trauma, so you can just look those up with "Live On Purpose (+ the key word)". As for hoarding, we have a couple videos on that too:
"How To Help A Hoarder In Denial" - ua-cam.com/video/-NSDanS9bgs/v-deo.html
"How To Help A Hoarder Clean Their House" - ua-cam.com/video/13OTsseH1k0/v-deo.html
My daughter has dyslexia. We often call it the invisible disability. She looks and acts completely normal but you ask her to read or write and it's hard. The way she is treated by others (peers and adults) is a huge problem and she has depression and anxiety because of it. I would like to hear what advice you have for me as a parent and her as a teenager.
Paula, thanks for being here and for being a conscious and engaged parent. We've put up a lot of videos here on the channel and especially on the Positive Parenting playlist. As a teen, your daughter would probably benefit as well from some of what we have posted here in the Positive Personal Development playlist. Hope you find it helpful! DrPaul
Does ur wife have her own channel? I would love to hear more from her! My son is special needs and as a parent it is hard to get advice when you first dont know where to reach out for help or are stuck and need the advice. Thank you!
Elizabeth, Vicki just shot another four episodes with me yesterday, so stay tuned. I also have a specialist coming next month to talk specifically about kids on the autism spectrum. We have also just put together a new Parenting Power-up audio course. You can get on the pre-order list here: parentingpowerup.com - thanks for watching! DrPaul
Live On Purpose TV I'm so excited I'm glad your touching on this subject more because its definitely a silent power struggle with each other. My son is non verbal so its extra hard for him to Express how he feels at times. Thank u again for making more videos
Do you have suggestions for dealing with adult children with special needs who have act out in anger?
rita henson, I don't know what you have tried, but tell them that you will talk to them when they are talking like you are now and make sure that is calm.
You know I wish I had known you when I was a kid
Natasja Perry, glad we have met via UA-cam. Pretty neat if you think about it.
Im in a school with special needs classmates and children, i get angry easily so it’s practically a death wish for the school
Squish Productions, I hope you are getting help for it, you have a long life to live and want it to be meaningful for you and others.
Do you have a video just for special needs teenagers???
K S, I don't think we have done one for just special needs. Is there a specific area?
Yes please don’t just focus on the negs you see in us which I don’t think you’s would
Celebrate the wins and find the strengths! DrPaul
Please teach me on how to be a teacher to my child who is 18yrs now and has begun to be very cheecky and she has anger issues. She has not been to school and she cannot read or write. She speaks well and she becomes angry when i teach her maths or sums because my concern is how will she cope if she does not know how to count even change. Please help me i am desperate
Zingisa Balman, do you have a school system where you live? Are there others who have been through what you are going through, a support group where you can get ideas? Talk to others, teachers, someone in a governmental department over those with disabilities?
Thank you for getting back at me and my appologies for my spelling errors i was writing without glasses.
Yes there are special schools in my area but they are very few. They cannot accomodate the no of chikdren with special needs which means they can cater for a limited no of children. Mine has always been on their long waiting list forever.
There are no suport groups in my area since most of our community members are not working.
Unfortunarely our government is not doing anything about the shortage of schools and supplies. We are just in the unfortunate side of the world here where rich people tramp on poor peoples heads to become richer.
God bless you.
My son has seizures and has never know how to write all he can do is trace numbers and sounds.he is now 7yrs.how can I help
Maureen Kea, I appreciate you being at Live On Purpose TV. Your best resource is your child's pediatrician. Seizures are a medical condition, and therefore outside my professional realm. Ask the pediatrician for as many resources as possible. You can also contact Social Services and see if they can provide any services to your son. Best wishes.
Couples
Honored to be on your team.
This video was almost helpful.
Thank you.
