I think it's cute that the Norwegian, Swedish, and Danish versions have some parts where they say the same thing. The "hele mitt liv" part

Actually at 3:47 the words are almost exactly the same.
Swedish: Du är den du själv har väntat på hela mitt liv
Danish: Du er det svar du har ventet på hele mit liv
Norwegian: Du er det svaret du ventet på hele mitt liv

Since Norwegian, Swedish, and Danish are the Scandinavia family of language
But Finnish is the Finno-Ugric family of language

I like how powerful and determined Elsa sounds in Finnish. I really like the others too but to me she just feels more like the fighter she is with Katja's voice.

Show Yourself hits different in Sami. It just has that hair-raising beauty that no other version has. It's just how it is, knowing that a song is in its native language.

So many calm parts with the Swedish version and when she finally got some lines with power, they were cut short. XD

But I actually like all of them in this song! Many say the singers got worse in the sequel but honestly I think they all improved with the exception of some versions.
    Beautiful multilanguage!

Why is everyone around me keep saying Frozen 2 was horrible I wanna kill them 😖 Seriously what did they expected ? Everything we needed is in this movie the storyline , songs , animation and everything is just perfect like this multilanguage ;)

    • @Balnazzardi
      @Balnazzardi 4 роки тому +7

Well I dont think it was horrible, the storyline and pacing of the movie just were not that great either....this and Into the Unknown were great songs, but the rest of them were honestly forgettable.
Overall despite strong moments like this, I was left rather bored by the movie and felt like much of it was missed opportunity. I mean lets take Arendelle for example. We are lead to believe that it has to go in order to save the "enchanted forest" and Elsa's mother's ppl but in the end Elsa saves the day with her powers....happy ending with no sacrifices had to be made.
Now take HTTYD 3 as another example where they actually had to abandon Berk and move to live elsewhere....Disney doesnt seem to have guts with some of their movies to go to the lenghs they once used to, not even remotely.
Anyhow this particular song was great and dubbing was great, no question about that

God, I can't make up my mind between Norwegian and Northern Sami, they're both amazing! And I'm so glad to see how much sense this mix makes in terms of lyrics. Maybe the only version that set apart from the original meaning just a little bit is the Italian one... yet I adore it, Serena Autieri is everything singing on Elsa 💖

Yeah, they are related. _Syntyä_ and _szül(etik)_ both come from Proto-Uralic _sentɜ-_ . _Uudelleen_ comes from _uusi_ which is related to Hungarian _új_ both of them derived from _wuďe_

  • @PhilipWester

Some of the translations are off. I can only understand Danish, Norwegian and Swedish, but translations for all 3 were slightly off several times. The general meaning behind the lyrics were correctly translated but with tiny mistakes that still changed them slightly.
For example, "I could never follow rules" became "I could never follow the rules". A lot of words that have homonyms also had the wrong meaning used, in my opinion. Sure, "släpp loss" can mean "release/let go of" as in releasing a prisoner, bit in context, the translation should definitely be "unleash".
    Here's how I would've translated the lines:
00:20 - "Somethings HERE seems to be familiar."
00:27 - "I can feel you when I follow in your path/tracks" - Not trail. They're homonyms, i.e. the word "spår" can mean many different things, but in this context, it means path/tracks. It could even be a contracted version of "footsteps".
01:12 - "Show yourself" is actually the proper translation.
    01:49 - "I could never follow rules."
    02:42 - "So I'll be whole"
    02:50 - "I want answers"
03:25 - "Remember the day, when you are ready"
03:34 - "Show yourself. Unleash your powers."
